The Radio frequency identification (RFID) system is a new technology which uses the open air to transmit information. RFID technology is one of the most promising technologies in the field of ubiquitous computing which is revolutionizing the supply chain. It has already been applied by many major retail chains such as Target, Wal-Mart, etc. The networked RFID system such as supply chain has very unique and special business needs which lead to special sets of RFID security requirements and security models. However, very little work has been done to analyze RFID security parameters in relation to networked RFID systems business needs. This paper presents a critical analysis of the networked application's security requirements in relation to their business needs. It then presents a comparative study of existing literature and the ability of various models to protect the security of the supply chain in a RFID deployment.

In addition to performance considerations, designing VLSI circuits at nanometer-scale process technology nodes demands considerations related to manufacturability and cost. Regular layout patterns are known to enhance resilience to random as well as certain types of systematic variations. In this contribution we assess the implications of this layout regularity using design automation for Critical Feature Analysis (CFA) and raw metrics, such as via count. Using the ISCAS'89 benchmark suite, for each benchmark circuit we compare place-and-route implementations that are based on semi-regular and ultra-regular cell layouts. While the CFA counter-intuitively suggests that implementations using ultra-regular layouts have lower Design for Manufacturability (DFM) scores than those using semi-regular layouts, we find that ultra-regular layouts yield implementations with an average of 22% fewer vias at the cost of a small wire length increase.

The FlexCore processor is the resulting implementation of an exposed datapath approach conceptualized in the FlexSoC programme. By way of a crossbar switch interconnect, all execution units in a FlexCore datapath can potentially communicate, allowing the inherent hardware parallelism to be utilized. This interconnect enables configuration of a datapath to match an application domain, for example, by way of datapath accelerators. The baseline FlexCore is a general-purpose processor (GPP) and since all FlexCore configurations are extensions to the baseline, they offer GPP functionality as complement to the domain-specific functionality. This paper gives an overview of the implementation of complete FlexCore processors, accompanied with discussions on datapath interconnects, datapath extensions and instruction decompression.

In this paper, we demonstrate our Img2UML system tool. This system tool eliminates the gap between pixel-based diagram and engineering model, that it supports the extraction of the UML class model from images and produces an XMI file of the UML model. In addition to this, Img2UML offers a repository of UML class models of images that have been collected from the Internet. This project has both industrial and academic aims: for industry, this tool proposals a method that enables the updating of software design documentation (that typically contains UML images). For academia, this system unlocks a corpus of UML models that are publicly available, but not easily analyzable for scientific studies.

System- and acceptance-testing are primarily performed with manual practices in current software industry. However, these practices have several issues, e.g. they are tedious, error prone and time consuming with costs up towards 40 percent of the total development cost. Automated test techniques have been proposed as a solution to mitigate these issues, but they generally approach testing from a lower level of system abstraction, leaving a gap for a flexible, high system-level test automation technique/tool. In this paper we present JAutomate, a Visual GUI Testing (VGT) tool that fills this gap by combining image recognition with record and replay functionality for high system-level test automation performed through the system under test's graphical user interface. We present the tool, its benefits compared to other similar techniques and manual testing. In addition, we compare JAutomate with two other VGT tools based on their static properties. Finally, we present the results from a survey with industrial practitioners that identifies test-related problems that industry is currently facing and discuss how JAutomate can solve or mitigate these problems.

In this paper, we discuss scalable content-oriented routing that enables storing, sharing and searching data totally within the VANET. We introduce a proactive content discovery scheme, Hierarchical Bloom-Filter Routing (HBFR), to tackle mobility, large population and rich content challenges of VANETs. HBFR is compared to the popular ICN reactive content discovery scheme in practical VANET scenarios. The results show that HBFR suits non-sharable data services, while reactive ICN inspired content discovery works well with popular sharable data. We suggest a hybrid approach that adaptively utilizes proactive and reactive schemes for time-sensitive data in ICN VANET.

Even hardware-focused industries today develop products where software is both a large and important component. Engineers tasked with developing and integrating these products do not always have a software engineering background. To ensure quality, tools are needed that automate and support software testing while allowing these domain specialists to leverage their knowledge and experience. Search-based testing could be a key aspect in creating an automated tool for supporting testing activities. However, domain specific quality criteria and trade-offs make it difficult to develop a general fitness function a priori, so interaction between domain specialists and such a tool would be critical to its success. In this paper we present a system for interactive search-based software testing and investigate a way for domain specialists to guide the search by dynamically re-weighting quality goals. Our empirical investigation shows that objective re-weighting can help a human domain specialist interactively guide the search, without requiring specialized knowledge of the system and without sacrificing population diversity.

This paper addresses the problem of leader election in virtual traffic lights. A virtual traffic light (VTL) is a self-organizing traffic control system that allows road vehicles equipped with vehicle-to-vehicle communication facilities to implement the function of a traffic light without the support of a roadside installation. Previous research has shown that it is impossible to construct a leader election protocol that guarantees agreement among the participating vehicles in the presence of massive communication failures. The paper addresses the problem of calculating the probability of disagreement in situations where a large number of protocol messages are lost due to communication interference, so-called communication grey-outs. To this end, we present a probabilistic analysis of a family of simple round-based consensus algorithms that solve the 1-of-n selection problem. We propose to use these algorithms for the core logic of a VTL leader election protocol (LEP). Our analysis shows that the probability of disagreement depends on: i) the number of vehicles involved in the leader election, ii) the number of rounds of message exchange, iii) the probability of message loss, and iv) the decision criterion used by the LEP. We propose an optimistic and a pessimistic decision criterion for the proposed 1-of-n selection algorithms. The analysis encompasses two probabilistic failure models, one for symmetric communication failures and one for asymmetric communication failures.

Heterogeneous systems are becoming increasingly popular for data processing. They improve performance of simple kernels applied to large amounts of data. However, sequential data loads may have negative impact. Data parallel solutions such as Polymorphic Register Files (PRFs) can potentially accelerate applications by facilitating high speed, parallel access to performance-critical data. Furthermore, by PRF customization, specific data path features are exposed to the programmer in a very convenient way. PRFs allow additional control over the registers dimensions, and the number of elements which can be simultaneously accessed by computational units. This paper shows how PRFs can be integrated in dataflow computational platforms. In particular, starting from an annotated source code, we present a compiler-based methodology that automatically generates the customized PRFs and the enhanced computational kernels that efficiently exploit them.

Due to the excess of human resource and not paying enough attention to layout and how to implement them, operations cost a lot and energy is wasted in big organizations. Thus, to improve layout, an imperialist competitive algorithm has been used in this research paper to achieve an acceptable and suitable answer for individuals' layout. In this paper, a new approach is introduced which is based on the imperialist competitive algorithm, named IL-ICA, which is an improvement of L-ICA. Buildings' information such as floors' physical characteristics, rooms, the distances between them and also the relationships between individuals and also physical characteristics of individuals such as age, disability and etc have been considered in this approach. Those individuals whose jobs are related shall be placed in the same room or if they are in different rooms, they shall be placed at the same floor and if they are at different floors, they shall be placed in floors next to each other. The proposed algorithm was compared with a similar sample by an implemented genetic algorithm and the results show that the proposed algorithm works better than the similar sample implemented by a genetic algorithm.
