Engagement has been shown to contribute to students' success. We used an NSSE-like survey and interviews to examine engagement of students registered in software engineering and information system engineering at Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). The survey showed BGU students had gener-ally lower engagement in comparison to US students except for in collaborative learning. BGU students lean towards perceiving their studies as a means for professional success rather than for traditional academic success. We attribute the differ-ences between the students and their US counterparts to dif-ferences in culture and the age of digital media that allows for multiple ways of learning beyond the university.

Digital libraries are a product of digital information aimed at satisfying users’ information needs, through collections of documents to which value added services are provided. To ensure the correct functioning of digital libraries and the services they provide it is essential to adequately include an understanding of the needs of users and their behavior in the design and creation processes. The evaluation of digital libraries has benefited from an effort to establish theoretical frameworks. The model that is proposed is based on techniques centered on the user. The focus is on defining the structure of the analysis, establishing evaluation levels and criteria, and verifying these through an evaluation process, carried out by a group of end users. The user activity identified, and which was the subject of the study, is the process of creating, enriching and configuring a collection for a digital library. A basic evaluation instrument was designed, which combined closed and guided questionnaires with the collection and study of individual opinions of users in the test groups. The results obtained made it possible to confirm that the instrument has produced valid results. The weaknesses and problems inherent in the tool, and the tool's deficiencies which must be corrected, were identified.

Accidental falling is one of the health hazards for seniors. A well falling detection mechanism can help the caregivers to save the elders in time. Falling detection technique becomes a critical factor to improve the quality of home care. Generally, the acceleration of a human's waist is smooth. Only the unstable state will generate acute acceleration. Therefore, in this paper, we installed the G-sensor on waist. We used the returned values of two installed G-sensors and the slopes of their signal measure vector to detect whether the tested man is falling or not in the sitting on the chair and standing cases. Our experimental results show that the falling can be detected when the slope of the signal measure vector rises steeply.
