This paper introduces SARA, a semantic-assisted reinforced active learning framework for enhancing entity alignment (EA) under limited supervision scenarios. SARA addresses the challenges of EA in real-world scenarios, including knowledge graph heterogeneity and limited training ground truth. SARA effectively selects valuable entity pairs with limited labeled data by combining reinforced active learning and semantic information. It utilizes a pair-wise language model based on Sentence-BERT to learn informative name embeddings that capture entity name semantics. These embeddings are combined with structural embeddings and trained using a novel semantic-assisted alignment loss. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets and a real-world dataset demonstrate the superiority of SARA over existing approaches, particularly in limited labeled data scenarios. The paper also provides insights into fine-tuning strategies, presents ablation studies, and conducts sensitivity analyses to validate the effectiveness of SARA.

In this paper, the authors investigate the current state of the lighting design and control sector in Thailand’s creative industry. The government aims to promote the creative industry as a key source of income, but there needs more skilled professionals in the industry. The authors have found that successful cases have used the Internet for remote controlling in the creative industry in other countries. Therefore, the paper will explore the potential of using technology to improve professional efficiency and assess the feasibility of implementing remote lighting control systems via the Internet with Thai lighting designers and lighting console operators. Data will be collected through qualitative in-depth interviews and quantitative surveys. The results have shown a promising acceptance rate of wireless devices for lighting control due to their mobility, flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and positive attitudes toward adopting Internet technology. The authors have also proposed a concept design for an internet-based control system tailored to Thai users, focusing on simplicity, ease of connection, and user-friendliness to accommodate those with limited network configuration knowledge. The proposed system aims to reduce professionals, save time, and increase convenience, leveraging Thailand’s extensive wireless internet coverage. These systems could significantly benefit Thailand’s creative industry by addressing the shortage of skilled professionals and improving efficiency.

This article proposes StrawberryTalk, an Internet of Things (IoT) platform for image-based strawberry disease detection. StrawberryTalk reuses the wall-mounted monitoring cameras without extra hardware cost. The contributions of StrawberryTalk are the utilization of IoT for automatic photo shoot and the wind detection mechanism to eliminate the obscure photos due to the wind effects. Also, the data preprocessing and the infection detection models are manipulated as IoT devices to simplify the implementation of the multicascade artificial intelligence (AI) models. We derive the relationship between the camera zoom factor and the distance between the camera and the strawberries for optimal disease detection. Accuracy of detection may be affected by obscure photos. In terms of eliminating obscure photos due to wind effect, we analytically derive the relationship between the wind alert delay and the number of obscure photos that must be retaken. For the greenhouses in the Bao Mountain, we only need to retake one photo. Based on the experiments, the mean average precision (mAP) of StrawberryTalk (to detect exact spots in a leaf) can be up to 92.37%, which is better than the previous approaches. To detect if a pot has infected leaves, the accuracy of StrawberryTalk can be up to 97.92% at the zoom factor 30×. In commercial operation, it is important to detect all infected strawberry pots. StrawberryTalk is able to detect all infected pots (i.e., recall is 100%) with a camera of zoom factor of 12× . The accuracy is 96.88%. © 2014 IEEE.

Neuropeptides configure the feeding network of Aplysia. For example, egestive activity is promoted by small cardioactive peptide (SCP), and ingestive activity is promoted by a combination of feeding circuit activating peptide (FCAP) and cerebral peptide 2 (CP-2). In addition, SCP and FCAP/CP-2 have a common network effect that does not contribute to motor program specification. They increase the excitability of an interneuron, B63. In this report, we further characterized the effects of peptides on B63. We performed voltage-clamp experiments and used a step protocol to look at steady-state currents. We found that SCP and FCAP/CP-2 both induced an inward current that was virtually absent in low-sodium saline. Previous work has established that B63 is unusual in the feeding circuit in that subthreshold depolarizations are autonomously generated that can trigger motor programs. Here, we show that this autonomous activity is more frequent in the presence of peptides. Previous studies have also shown that activity of the feeding central pattern generator (CPG) can be initiated by neurons that excite B63, e.g., by cerebral buccal interneuron 2 (CBI-2), a projection neuron that triggers biting-like motor programs. Here, we show that the latency of CBI-2-induced activity is decreased by stimulation of the esophageal nerve (EN) (which releases endogenous SCP). These results, taken together with previous results, indicate that peptides that act divergently to configure network activity additionally act convergently to promote motor program induction. We present data that suggest that this arrangement facilitates brief switches between ingestive and egestive motor activity. © 2025 The Authors.

At present, the most common and low-cost method to control the drone is to use a mobile phone with an APP. The operator takes his mobile phone screen as a human-machine interface, and at the same time controls and receives the images returned by the drone. The control mode can be divided into two symmetry modes according to how the operator views and knows the location of the drone: exocentric viewing and egocentric viewing mode. In the exocentric viewing mode, the operator directly visually confirms the position of the drone, while in the egocentric viewing mode, the drone is equipped with a camera and transmits the flight image to the operator in real-time. Since the drone cannot be far away from the operator in the exocentric viewing mode, the relative egocentric mode allows the operator to feel immersed in the environment to control the drone more accurately. Therefore, by adapting the egocentric viewing and using human motion recognition, an unmanned vehicle remote-control system is designed. The low-speed, small-scaled, nature-stability UAVs are ideally suited for the proposed system. The system was designed with a PID controller to improve the UAV's handling. The experimental results verified the feasibility of the UVA control system and it could stabilize the posture of the drone. © 2022 IEEE.

The number of Android malicious applications keeps growing as time passes, even paving their way to official app markets. In recent years, a promising malware detection approach makes use of the compiled app source codes (dex), through convolutional neural networks (CNN) as an image classification task. Unfortunately, current proposals often rely on unrealistic datasets, focusing their detection on the mal-ware families, while neglecting the detection of malware apps in the first place. In this paper, we propose a reliable and hierarchical Android malware detection through an image-based CNN scheme, implemented twofold. First, Android malware classification is performed in a hierarchically-structured local manner, initially identifying malware apps, then, their related family. Second, to ensure reliability and improve classification accuracy, only highly confident classified apps are reported, in a classification with reject option rationale. Experiments performed in a new dataset with over 26 thousand Android apps, divided into 29 malware families, compounding over 13 GB of app dex images, have shown that current image-based CNN for malware detection is unable to provide high detection accuracies. In contrast, our proposed model is able to reliably detect malware apps, improving the true-negative rates by up to 5.5%, and the average true-positive rate of the malware families of accepted apps by up to 12.7%, while rejecting only 10% of Android apps.

The digital transformation process has significantly boosted the widespread adoption of telemedicine and the utilization of wearable devices for monitoring vital signs. However, implementing a system for continuous monitoring of the population's vital signs, with data being streamed from various locations within a smart city context, faces significant challenges. These challenges are related to bandwidth, latency, and storage capacity due to the large volume of data. To overcome these challenges, a common practice consists in modeling an edge-fog-cloud layered architecture. The literature lacks software solutions capable of managing the simultaneous transmission of various vital signs data, coming from individuals geographically distributed, while maintaining the ability to promptly issue alerts and generate health notifications. In this context, we propose the VSAC (Vital Sign Adaptive Compressor) model, which combines lossy and lossless data compression algorithms in a layered architecture to support healthcare demands in a smart city. The main contribution is how we blend both strategies: we first use lossy compression to collect only valuable vital sign data for each individual, applying lossless algorithms afterwards to reduce the number of bytes before sending it to higher layers. We provide a protocol that facilitates the collection of heterogeneous data distributed across different city regions, providing real-time processing. A prototype was developed to evaluate the model and its performance in various load scenarios. The results indicate that orchestrating two data compression algorithms is more efficient than conventional data reduction methods, showing gains up to 46\% when measuring the compression rate metric. © 2024, The Authors. This study presents a hybrid model, STL-ARIMA-ES-LSTM, developed to improve the accuracy of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) forecasts in the Amazon region. The model integrates seasonal and trend decomposition using Loess (STL) with statistical methods (ARIMA and Exponential Smoothing-ES) and a machine learning technique (Long Short-Term Memory - LSTM). Applied to GPP data from the PE-QFR site, the hybrid model achieved significantly better error metrics, with RMSE of 1.69 gC/m2/day, MAE of 1.35 gC/m2/day, and MAPE of 0.20%, compared to the standalone LSTM (RMSE of 2.16 gC/m2/day, MAE of 1.78 gC/m2/day, and MAPE of 0.27%). Furthermore, the hybrid model showed stronger agreement with the observed data, with correlation coefficient r =0.62 and R2 =0.39 , whereas the LSTM alone yielded r =0.26 and R2 = –0.002. The STL decomposition allowed effective separation of trend, seasonality, and residual components, enabling tailored modeling of each, which contributed to the improved predictive performance. These results demonstrate the advantage of hybrid approaches in capturing the nonlinear and seasonal patterns of GPP, supporting enhanced environmental monitoring and more informed climate change mitigation strategies in the Amazon. © 2013 IEEE.

The ICTs are powerful tools for effective Knowledge sharing (KS) and facilitate data accessibility of rural communities. Even so, the direction of development and application of the ICTs in the context of ASEAN is still unclear. Hence, this study aims to specify such direction and tendency by employing the bibliometric analysis with a dataset of 81 studies extracted from Scopus database and summative content analysis, reaching conclusion regarding crucial factors and sustainable agricultural development. The outcome of this study could help reveal the precise direction of development and application of the ICTs in Rural agricultural community (RAC) as well as shed some light on necessary determinants for system enhancement and constraints which are useful for future studies on rural agricultural community development. © 2022 IEEE.

To model the periodicity of beats, state-of-the-art beat tracking systems use 'post-processing trackers' (PPTs) that rely on several empirically determined global assumptions for tempo transition, which work well for music with a steady tempo. For expressive classical music, however, these assumptions can be too rigid. With two large datasets of Western classical piano music, namely the Aligned Scores and Performances (ASAP) dataset and a dataset of Chopin's Mazurkas (Maz-5), we report on experiments showing the failure of existing PPTs to cope with local tempo changes, thus calling for new methods. In this paper, we propose a new local periodicity-based PPT, called predominant local pulse-based dynamic programming (PLPDP) tracking, that allows for more flexible tempo transitions. Specifically, the new PPT incorporates a method called 'predominant local pulses' (PLP) in combination with a dynamic programming (DP) component to jointly consider the locally detected periodicity and beat activation strength at each time instant. Accordingly, PLPDP accounts for the local periodicity, rather than relying on a global tempo assumption. Compared to existing PPTs, PLPDP particularly enhances the recall values at the cost of a lower precision, resulting in an overall improvement of F1-score for beat tracking in ASAP (from 0.473 to 0.493) and Maz-5 (from 0.595 to 0.838). © 2014 IEEE.
