Intending to introduce a method for the topological analysis of fields, we present a pipeline that takes as an input a weighted and based chain complex, produces a factored chain complex, and encodes it as a barcode of tagged intervals (briefly, a tagged barcode). We show how to apply this pipeline to the weighted and based chain complex of a gradient-like Morse-Smale vector field on a compact Riemannian manifold in both the smooth and discrete settings. Interestingly for computations, it turns out that there is an isometry between factored chain complexes endowed with the interleaving distance and their tagged barcodes endowed with the bottleneck distance. Concerning stability, we show that the map taking a generic enough gradient-like vector field to its barcode of tagged intervals is continuous. Finally, we prove that the tagged barcode of any such vector field can be approximated by the tagged barcode of a combinatorial version of it with arbitrary *** Codes 55N31, 37B35, 57R25 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Peculiarities of the Formation of Students' Business Communication Skills within the Distance Learning

The article deals with the problems of the formation of students' business communications skills at higher educational institutions. The authors ground the hypothesis that the implementation of nonstandard ways and forms of teaching foreign language provides the increasing of effectiveness of formation of students' business communicative skills. The goal of research work deals with the theoretical justification and presentation of nonstandard interactive means and forms of educational activity oriented on the formation of business communication skills (BCS) of students within distance learning. Due to the applied qualitative and quantitative methods of research (conducted surveys, experimental research work, data analysis, etc.), it was proved the necessity of implementation of the interactive technologies into the educational process. The authors found out that modern society requires the new generation of specialists who must be educated, professional in their fields, and able to compete within the rapidly changing paradigms of the business systems. For the further implementation by teachers, they are given samples of nonstandard forms of educational activity, certain interactive technologies, instructions, and advice on ways of increasing the effectiveness of BCS. There are described prospects of the further research activity, which will be devoted to the problem of strengthening of BCS. © 2023 Irina Nagay et al.

Diffusion models have impressive image generation capability, but low-quality generations still exist, and their identification remains challenging due to the lack of a proper sample-wise metric. To address this, we propose BayesDiff, a pixel-wise uncertainty estimator for generations from diffusion models based on Bayesian inference. In particular, we derive a novel uncertainty iteration principle to characterize the uncertainty dynamics in diffusion, and leverage the last-layer Laplace approximation for efficient Bayesian inference. The estimated pixel-wise uncertainty can not only be aggregated into a sample-wise metric to filter out low-fidelity images but also aids in augmenting successful generations and rectifying artifacts in failed generations in text-to-image tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the efficacy of BayesDiff and its promise for practical applications. This paper presents an analysis of the safety aspects of a Remote Driving System (RDS) using the System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) methodology. The focus is on the human Remote Driver (RD) within the RDS, considering losses and system-level hazards associated with the human-in-the-loop scenario which focuses on the RD actions related to the change in Steering Wheel Angle (SWA). The STPA methodology is applied to identify Unsafe Control Actions (UCA) related to the change in SWA command, resulting in the identification of numerous Causal Factors (CF) that may lead to hazardous scenarios. Several UCAs and CFs are identified that provide information on potential hazards and risks associated with remote driving technology. Based on a selected UCA where the RD does not change the SWA when the road network requires lateral movement, 25 potential loss scenarios were identified and presented in this paper. The results of this work can contribute to the understanding of potential risks and the development of safety mitigation measures in the context of RDS which need to be validated in further research.

Online shopping has developed very rapidly with the rise of economy, but due to its open network environment, many security issues have also appeared. Among them, behavior risk has become a new security challenge in the online shopping process. Thus, this paper proposes a monitoring mechanism for the behavior risk of online shopping users. Once there is risky information in the user's session, it can be monitored and processed in time. In this paper, the modeling method based on Hierarchical Colored Petri Net (HCPN) is used to depict the monitoring mechanism, and the CPNTools is used to generate the state space diagram to validate the correctness of the model. This monitoring mechanism supplements the analysis theory of user behavior risk during online shopping processes. The proposed method can be used to protect consumers' legitimate interests in real-time. © 2021 IEEE

The adoption of e-learning pedagogy in educational institutions has become increasingly prevalent, and it has proffered solutions to notable deficiencies that existed in the traditional learning pedagogy. However, it has also opened up new sets of challenges. One such challenge is the management of the huge amounts of data generated by students in the course of their daily interaction with various e-learning subsystems. Furthermore, as these systems are mostly online assessment systems, In-depth evaluation of student’s interaction is mostly coarse, and a strategy for retrospective evaluation of students’ interaction data for improved knowledge acquisition is mostly lacking. In our own peculiar scenario, an understanding of the challenges experienced by students in their pursuit of Structured Query Language knowledge acquisition was necessary. A strategy we adopted to tackle the challenge of gaining retrospective insight into student’s learning engagements is the use of error codes, and a real-time analytics. Thus, we are able to understand the extent to which our teaching strategy is effective against reducing stress resulting in exercise task engagement, and other learning challenges that may affect knowledge acquisition by individual students in the course of their learning interactions. We show that the error code strategy is an effective indicator for tracking, and intervening on student’s Structured Query Language (SQL) based learning interactions. Our evaluation further showed that syntax errors are the most prevalent type of error encountered by students learning SQL.

Distributed averaging is among the most relevant cooperative control problems, with applications in sensor and robotic networks, distributed signal processing, data fusion, and load balancing. Consensus and gossip algorithms have been investigated and successfully deployed in multi-agent systems to perform distributed averaging in synchronous and asynchronous settings. This study proposes a heuristic approach to estimate the convergence rate of averaging algorithms in a distributed manner, relying on the computation and propagation of local graph metrics while entailing simple data elaboration and small message passing. The protocol enables nodes to predict the time (or the number of interactions) needed to estimate the global average with the desired accuracy. Consequently, nodes can make informed decisions on their use of measured and estimated data while gaining awareness of the global structure of the network, as well as their role in it. The study presents relevant applications to outliers identification and performance evaluation in switching topologies. © 2023, CC BY.

The study of the educational process of university students has revealed their need for more engagement in class. They seem unable to absorb material that does not require a certain level of mental tension, negatively affecting their academic performance and competence. Therefore, there is a need to develop pedagogical technology to optimize the educational process. We analyzed the educational process at the National University “Odesa Law Academy” in 2020-2023. We evaluated the effectiveness of ways and means of enhancing the academic and cognitive skills of 150 full-time IT students during their study of professional-oriented courses. We have improved students' educational and mental activities by optimizing the educational process through personalized problem-based learning, utilizing professionally oriented problem situations, and providing favorable motivational and emotional support. We confirmed the reliability of the research results using descriptive statistics.
