XiangShan, a rising star of RISC-V-based processors proposed by Chinese Academy of science, is famous for its high performance and agile methodology. At present, the second-generation Yanqi Lake architecture of XiangShan has already reached the frequency of 2GHz at the 14nm process node, which ranks the first in the field of open-source RISC-V-based processors. One of the key approaches that contribute to its high performance is prefetch. A timely and accurate prefetcher can effectively eliminate cache misses and thus hide memory access latency. Aiming at the specific environment of XiangShan, out-of-order and parallel, a stride-based prefetcher for the L1DCache is achieved on the Yanqi Lake structure of XiangShan. Serious benchmarks from SPEC2006 were run on XiangShan, the result of which demonstrates that our prefetcher improves the performance of XiangShan by an average of 2.5% and up to 13.3%. © 2022 IEEE.

Poverty is a multidimensional concept that, besides the economic status and financial resources, should consider the lack of access to resources enabling a minimum standard of living and participation in society. In particular, elderly people are likely to require help with some or everyday activities and the total costs of this help can be very high and absorb a significant amount of their income, especially when they are alone and not in good health. This work proposes a strategy based on Bayesian Network to identify the risk of poverty in elderly people, relying on multidimensional indicators learned from heterogeneous sources of information, including the difficulty of accessing services, social exclusion and health status. Data cleaning and integration that include socio-demographic indicators are proposed here, and an overall framework of analysis that can be exportable to several other categories of the population at risk of poverty is presented. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors. The global health products supply chain is negatively influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the risks in the pharmaceutical supply chain (PSC) have increased. Assessment and mitigation risks in PSC are essential issues to control and counter these risks. In this study, a 2-Tuple ARAS-BWM approach, which combines ARAS and BWM methods under linguistic 2-Tuple environment, is proposed to evaluate and address various risks to the best mitigation strategies in the pharmaceutical industry in Tunisia during COVID-19. Noted that the main risk identified in the PSC is related to supply and suppliers and its best mitigation strategy is reducing risk.

In this paper, we present the importance of data pre-processing in predicting students' success. We implemented Principal Component Analysis for dimensionality reduction to achieve better model performance. Data re-sampling technique was also utilized to handle the imbalanced class problem that is one of the significant issues in effective classification in Educational Data Mining due to the nature of the data from educational settings. We also performed a comparative analysis on the impacts of Random Under-Sampling (RUS), Random Over-Sampling (ROS), and Synthetic Minority Over-Sampling Technique (SMOTE) to an imbalanced dataset used in this study. SMOTE and PCA techniques application offer better performance compared to RUS and ROS with PCA. Support Vector Machine had the best accuracy value of 0.94 after the application of SMOTE and PCA. The application of PCA on the imbalanced data also positively affected the accuracy of the models used in this study. We used other performance metrics to evaluate our models: Kappa, Area Under Curve, and Precision-Recall curve. Our finding shows that the predictive models can predict student success with the proper application of PCA and data re-samnling techniques. © 2021 IEEE.

Student success is important to institutions of learning. Learning institutions offer academic support to their students to ensure success. Knowledge Tracing (KT), the task of modelling student knowledge based on their learning history is a significant topic in the field of Educational Data Mining and has numerous applications in the development of interactive and adaptive learning technology. KT can be used to understand each student's unique learning behaviour, individual needs, and skill-levels. Machine learning classification models were implemented to trace the knowledge state of students. The Support Vector Machine outperformed all other models in this article, with Random Forest performing the worst, with accuracy of 76.8% and 70.76%, respectively. One important goal of KT is to personalise study materials in order to assist student's understand learning concepts more efficiently. © 2021 IEEE.

Despite the successful development of vaccines, coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to present unprecedented challenges. Besides the ongoing vaccination activities, many countries still rely on measures including social distancing, contact tracing, mandatory face masking among others. Several digital technologies such as smart devices, social distancing tools, smart applications have been adopted to enhance public adherence to reduce secondary transmission. Such technologies use health data, symptoms monitoring, mobility, location and proximity data for contact tracing, self-isolation and quarantine compliance. The use of digital technologies has been debatable and contentious because of the potential violation of ethical values such as security and privacy, data format and management, synchronization, over-tracking, over-surveillance and lack of proper development and implementation guidelines which subsequently impact their efficacy and adoption. Also, the aggressive and mandatory use of large-scale digital technologies is not easy to implement, adhere to and subsequently difficult to practice which ultimately lead to imperfect public compliance. To alleviate these impediments, we analysed the available literature and propose an ethical framework for the use of digital technologies centred on ethical practices. The proposed framework highlights the trade-offs, potential roles and coordination of different stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of digital technologies, from various social and political contexts in Zimbabwe. We suggest that transparency, regular engagement and participation of potential users are likely to boost public trust. However, the potential violation of ethical values, poor communication, hasty implementation of digital technologies will likely undermine public trust, and as such, risk their adoption and efficacy. © 2021

This research proposes the assessment of banking and financial services using AI to monitor how banks apply AI approaches and the feedback they receive from customers. In order to better track, anticipate, and react to customer behavior, the financial information generated by the growing utilization of digital pay and banking can be mined by banks and other financial institutions. Based on research, secondary sources are reviewed to ascertain the data used in banking and financial services. A methodical survey is designed to gather the main information clients have regarding AI applications. The study is that private banks and other financial institutions use a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) services to better serve their clients and ensure that they are happy with their financial services, as some clients are not happy with banking services. Additionally, the results indicated that clients would be more committed to banking and financial services representatives by providing creative preparation for the advancement of AI practices in the workplace. © The Author(s).

This paper aims to improve the average response time for naval accidents in the North and Baltic Sea. To do this we optimize the strategic distribution of the vessel fleet used by the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (German Maritime Search and Rescue Service) (DGzRS) across several home stations. Based on these locations, in case of an incoming distress call the vessel with the lowest response time is dispatched. A particularity of the region considered is the fact that due to low tide, at predictable times some vessels and stations are not operational. In our work, we build a corresponding mathematical model for the allocation of rescue crafts to multiple stations. Thereafter, we show that the problem is NP-hard. Next, we provide an Integer Programming (IP) formulation. Finally, we propose several methods of simplifying the model and do a case study to compare their effectiveness. Chaos is not only a unique chapter in the theory of dynamical systems but also a useful one with many applications in the field of communications. In this work a cyclometric modification of the well-known example of chaotic systems, the modified differential equations describing the behavior of the Chua-circuit is investigated. The results obtained can be applied in the encryption methods of the implementation of different communication channels like machine-machine or cognitive one. © 2023 IEEE.

This research addresses the global prevalence of people with hearing disabilities, recognizing the increasing numbers within this demographic. The communication challenges encountered by these individuals drive the development and evaluation of a language translation model. The primary goal is to design a model specifically tailored for translating sign language sentences into English, considering the unique word order in sign language. The study involves comparing eight models that utilize various techniques. Evaluation will be conducted through the bleu score, with 100 randomly selected sentences in each of the 10 rounds. Consistent inputs will be used across rounds to calculate the bleu score, offering a comprehensive assessment of model performance.
