In this article the implementation of neural network architecture based on a dense U-Net network is proposed. It is noted that retinal blood vessels are the basis for clinical diagnosis of some diseases. A review of the convolutional networks use for classification tasks and generalizion retinal vessel segmentation algorithms is performed. The general process of the neural network is presented. The differences between the real and the obtained results were evaluated. Evaluation of the neural network is carried out on several parameters. Indicators of binary cross-entropy and learning time when using different tile sizes are presented, based on these data determined by the solution to the problem of minimax ML for binary cross-entropy and learning time. The figure with the recognized blood vessels as a result of the model is presented. © 2020 IEEE computer Society. All rights reserved.

The global prevalence of anxiety has seen a significant increase in the past few years. Anxiety, if left untreated, can lead to various detrimental effects, such as sleep disturbances, excessive fear, and even suicidal tendencies. Traditional face-to-face therapies have been employed to address this issue; however, their effectiveness is limited by time and space constraints, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, computer-based systems have emerged as a potential solution. However, most existing relaxation systems rely on a single method and have unnatural interactions, leading to a lack of variety and engagement. To overcome these limitations, this study proposes a virtual reality (VR) relaxation system that combines various relaxation techniques, a captivating storyline and natural interactions to enhance the user experience. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed system, a pilot study was conducted with 36 participants. The study utilized a between-subjects design, dividing the participants into three groups: a control group, a progressive muscular relaxation group, and a virtual reality relaxation group. The findings revealed that the virtual reality relaxation system significantly reduced anxiety levels among the participants. Importantly, this effect was observed to persist even after a period of time and was found to be more effective than using only one relaxation method in the long term. Moreover, the performance of our system is close to that of commercial systems.

In this paper we propose an advanced approach to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare: autonomous decision support. This approach allows the AI algorithm to act autonomously for a subset of patient cases whilst serving a supportive role in other subsets of patient cases based on defined delegation criteria. By leveraging the complementary strengths of both humans and AI, it aims to deliver greater overall performance than existing human-AI teaming models. It ensures safe handling of patient cases and potentially reduces clinician review time, whilst being mindful of AI tool limitations. After setting the approach within the context of current human-AI teaming models, we outline the delegation criteria and apply them to a specific AI-based tool used in histopathology. The potential impact of the approach and the regulatory requirements for its successful implementation are then discussed. © 2025, CC BY-NC-SA.

Hybrid harmony search algorithm for social network contact tracing of COVID-19

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and then moved to almost every country showing an unprecedented outbreak. The world health organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Since then, millions of people were infected, and millions have lost their lives all around the globe. By the end of 2020, effective vaccines that could prevent the fast spread of the disease started to loom on the horizon. Nevertheless, isolation, social distancing, face masks, and quarantine are the best-known measures, in the time being, to fight the pandemic. On the other hand, contact tracing is an effective procedure in tracking infections and saving others' lives. In this paper, we devise a new approach using a hybrid harmony search (HHS) algorithm that casts the problem of finding strongly connected components (SCCs) to contact tracing. This new approach is named as hybrid harmony search contact tracing (HHS-CT) algorithm. The hybridization is achieved by integrating the stochastic hill climbing into the operators' design of the harmony search algorithm. The HHS-CT algorithm is compared to other existing algorithms of finding SCCs in directed graphs, where it showed its superiority over these algorithms. The devised approach provides a 77.18% enhancement in terms of run time and an exceptional average error rate of 1.7% compared to the other existing algorithms of finding SCCs.

This paper investigates the long-term impact of CompSciConnect (CSC), a three-year computing program for middle school girls and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) learners. We use the educational debt theory to explore how CSC addresses structural and systemic barriers throughout the K-12 and post-secondary education pipeline. Findings reveal that CSC positively impacted all alumni. However, the isolating culture of post-secondary CS learning environments conflicted with these positive experiences. This study suggests that cultural, economic, and social issues within post-secondary CS education can counteract positive informal learning experiences and reinforce the debilitating effects of educational debt.

using the indirect near-boundary element method, an algorithm for recognizing the physical and geometric parameters of the inclusion in a piecewise homogeneous half-plane, whose components are in ideal contact, based on the potential field data measured at its boundary, is constructed. The direct and inverse two-dimensional problems of the potential theory in relation to electrical prospecting, in particular, the method of vertical electrical soundings, have been solved. A computational experiment was conducted in which initial approximations for the electrical conductivity of the inclusion, its center of mass, orientation, and dimensions were determined by the nature of the change in apparent resistivity. The inverse problem is solved using excess boundary conditions by a number of iterations while minimizing the functional.

With the development of image processing technology and the improvement of people's living standards, there is a wide demand for makeup services in society. In this paper, we focus on style transfer and its application in automatic makeup generation, and propose a facial feature fusion recovery technique that utilizes an adaptive spatial feature fusion attention mechanism to solve the problem of inconsistent clarity between the reference image and the source image. By using the moving least squares method to calculate similarity on each sample image, the reference image set achieving the optimal makeup transfer effect can be efficiently selected. At the same time, the latent vector can be manipulated to achieve on-demand hybrid makeup generation and de-makeup image generation. By assigning different weights, the proportion of makeup in specific reference image in the final makeup effect can be controlled, and a new mixed makeup style can be obtained. The experiment shows that the proposed model can achieve state-of-the-art makeup transfer effect, and can also generate suitable makeup effects for low resolution input images. © 2023 IEEE.

Various needs for specific professional knowledge manifest different levels of perseverance in students to complete the educational process from the start to its logical end. This process is a key feature of any learning format. These arguments determine the relevance to investigate the process of self-regulation in educational activity. The purpose of the work is to build the models that characterize self-regulation of the student’s cognitive activity and involvement in knowledge acquisition. To achieve the purpose, the following tasks are to be solved. 1. Review of scientific publications. 2. Building graphical and cognitive models of the problem under study. 3. Analysis of models using statistical and IT approach. 4. Formulation of conclusions. Statistical analysis shows that the level of self-regulation of behavior among the students in the city of Bishkek is higher than among the students in the city of Omsk. As for the level of self-regulation of educational activities, it is higher among the students in Omsk than among the students in Bishkek. As a result, it is found that the factors “motivation” of the student learning activity and the factor “flexibility” in actions are decisive for the investigation of the phenomenon. The results of q-connectivity show that the vertices of the graph of a cognitive model with highdimensional simplexes are these factors. The obtained results are recommended to specialists in the field of pedagogical science to manage the educational system as a whole.

The uniqueness of folk song expression forms and complex semantic relationships, and the existing models are not good at recognizing the emotion category of folk song lyrics, so an attention TIG-CNN-BiGRU based emotion classification model is proposed. That is, we first propose a text vector representation based on TF-IDF feature weighted pretrained Glove word embedding to extract important features by assigning different weights, and then combine CNN, BiGRU and attention mechanism to extract local features using multi-scale convolutional kernel CNN, BiGRU to capture semantic dependencies of long sequences and attention mechanism to assign high weights to key features to make the model have better lyrics recognition ability. Experiments comparing the model with various baseline methods on the lyrics dataset show that the model outperforms other lyrics sentiment classification models in terms of sentiment classification accuracy and various other metrics. © 2023 IEEE.

Increasing demand for experts capable of high-quality assessment of the impact of a particular planned activity on the environment involves a more effective use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the educational process of training ecology students. The authors present a methodology for students to study the educational material of the "Environmental Impact Assessment" course by using ICT. The methodology and algorithm for using the Padlet interactive whiteboard, Mindomo mind maps, Easel infographics, Google Drive and Google Docs in lectures and practical lessons are described. Particular attention is paid to the preparation of a group project using ICT. Tested in the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, the methodology allows to implement a number of tasks such as: promotion of intensification and effectiveness of teaching;acquisition of practical skills to quickly find the necessary information on various online resources for ecology students;simulation of the real procedure of environmental impact assessment in the classroom;development of the ability to professionally communicate with experts in other fields of knowledge or activity, etc. Examination of the results of using ICT to study the "Environmental Impact Assessment" course has shown a significant increase in informational literacy among ecology students and their individual professional growth. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.
