The article determines the influence of threats on economic security of enterprises. It offers the directions of counteraction to the threats to economic security of enterprises, which involve the expansion in international markets, diversification of production, development of innovation activity by strengthening of scientific and technical interaction, which will promote a more efficient use of enterprises' potential. The article presents the proposals on improving the process of making managerial decisions for boosting the effectiveness of counteraction to the threats. It proves the necessity of using the indicator of bankruptcy probability diagnosis in the system of assessing the state of economic security of enterprises for a more complete study of the threats to economic security. The article suggests the improved mechanism of counteraction to the threats to economic security, based on the concept that takes into account the use of the opportunities provided by external and internal environments, perspective directions of development, strengthening of integration links of functional systems of the enterprise with the aim of effective counteraction to the threats to economic security and ensuring economic growth of subject of management. The article substantiates the criteria of selection of suppliers of enterprises and defines the conceptual bases of a choice of perspective for markets of the enterprises. The study also determines the necessity of adherence to the principles of complexity, professionalism, and activity with the purpose of effective work of the mechanism of counteraction to the threats to economic security. © 2019 IEEE.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to advance, it demonstrates capabilities comparable to human intelligence, having significant potential to revolutionize education and workforce development. To assess the state-of-art AI capacity, this study provides a comprehensive evaluation of OpenAI o1-preview’s ability to perform higher-order cognitive tasks across 14 distinct dimensions, including critical thinking, systems thinking, computational thinking, design thinking metacognition, data literacy, creative thinking, abstract reasoning, quantitative reasoning, logical reasoning, analogical reasoning, and scientific reasoning. In each dimension, we adopt existing instruments with high reliability and validity, such as the Ennis-Weir Critical Thinking Essay Test and the Biological Systems Thinking Test to systematically assess o1-preview’s higher-order thinking in comparison to human performance. We found overall outperformance of o1-preview for most of the categories: • o1-preview achieved significantly outperform (150%) as compared to humans for systematic thinking, computational thinking, data literacy, creative thinking, scientific reasoning, and abstract reasoning. • For logical reasoning, critical thinking, and quantitative reasoning, o1-preview slightly under-performed by 25% than human such as for logical reasoning. • For analogical reasoning, we found that both human and o1-preview achieve perfect scores for each given task. Nevertheless, we identify o1-preview’s limited capacity in thinking such as abstract reasoning, where humans (i.e., psychology students) perform better than o1-preview, indicating that human oversight remains crucial for tasks requiring high-level abstraction. The findings have broad implications for education, advocating a shift in educational paradigms to emphasize the development of complementary human skills, such as creativity, abstract reasoning, and critical thinking. Deceptive reviews of products influence customer’s decision and damage the reputation of the product. Most of the existing methods for detecting fraudulent comments use feature design, which is difficult to learn the potential semantics of comments. We propose a neural network based on clustering and attention mechanism to learn the semantic representation of reviews. Specifically, we use DBSCAN to discover the semantic groups in the word embedding space, and then construct the semantics of different semantic groups through the attention mechanism. The model computes the representations of the semantic units and combine them into the sentence representation. In feature selection, we perform feature combination to improve performance. Then we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model through Amazon dataset experiments. 5G communication systems provide an end-to-end wireless connection to billions of users and devices across the globe. The quality of signals received during radio communication is notably influenced by the behavior of the radio propagation channel. A major parameter used in characterizing this channel is the Path Loss Exponent (PLE). Several works that have estimated and analyzed the PLE mostly considered the effect of distance and carrier frequency. However, the effect of base station antenna height and channel bandwidth on the PLE for 5G networks have not been adequately considered. To address this, the impact of antenna height of base station and channel bandwidth on the PLE within the 5G Frequency Range 1 (FR1) frequencies was investigated in this study, specifically at 800, 3500, and 5900 MHz. The licensed EDX Signal Pro software® with Cirrus high resolution global terrain and clutter data base was utilized to model, simulate and analyze the PLE for Kano City, Nigeria. Results showed that for the tested frequencies, an increase in either base station height or channel bandwidth leads to a significant reduction in the PLE. This study can be utilized by network planning engineers and the wireless research community to further improve network implementation and optimization toward understanding the behavior of signal propagation in 5G networks and beyond.

A satisfaction and fairness based matching approach for mutual selection problem

In colleges and universities, bidirectional selection of students and supervisors is very common to determine the supervisor-student pairs. However, the most bidirectional selection methods only focus on the maximization of the number of matching pairs, while not considering the specific satisfaction and fairness of each person. To deal with such issue, in this paper, we introduce two novel metrics of satisfaction and fairness for each person, and then formulate the bidirectional selection problem to an integer linear programming problem with the predefined relative fairness. Due to the NP-hardness of the problem, we propose three heuristic algorithms, respectively named by the Satisfaction-based Greedy (SG) algorithm, the Weight-based Greedy (WG) algorithm and the Satisfaction-based Dynamic Programming (SDP) algorithm. We evaluate the performance of the three algorithms in terms of total satisfaction, average satisfaction and matching ratio. The experimental results show that the SDP can achieve the maximized satisfaction and a higher matching ratio.

ESCAPED: Efficient secure and private dot product framework for kernel-based machine learning algorithms with applications in healthcare

To train sophisticated machine learning models one usually needs many training samples. Especially in healthcare settings these samples can be very expensive, meaning that one institution alone usually does not have enough on its own. Merging privacy-sensitive data from different sources is usually restricted by data security and data protection measures. This can lead to approaches that reduce data quality by putting noise onto the variables (e.g., in ϵ differential privacy) or omitting certain values (e.g., for k-anonymity). Other measures based on cryptographic methods can lead to very time-consuming computations, which is especially problematic for larger multi-omics data. We address this problem by introducing ESCAPED, which stands for Efficient SeCure And PrivatE Dot product framework, enabling the computation of the dot product of vectors from multiple sources on a third-party, which later trains kernel-based machine learning algorithms, while neither sacrificing privacy nor adding noise. We evaluated our framework on drug resistance prediction for HIV-infected people and multi-omics dimensionality reduction and clustering problems in precision medicine. In terms of execution time, our framework significantly outperforms the best-fitting existing approaches without sacrificing the performance of the algorithm. Even though we only show the benefit for kernel-based algorithms, our framework can open up new research opportunities for further machine learning models that require the dot product of vectors from multiple sources. © 2020, CC BY.

The classical attribute reduction algorithms based on attribute dependence in rough set theory only select attributes which have a larger degree of dependence on decision attribute and don't consider attribute redundancy. This paper points out that only selecting condition attributes with a large degree of dependence on decision attribute is not enough, the redundancy between condition attributes should also be taken into account. In allusion to this matter, an algorithm based on the maximum dependency and minimum redundancy of attribute is presented. The results of experiments which are carried out on the UCI data sets suggest that the presented algorithm has gained favorable results. © 2018 IEEE.

The aim of the research is to develop an interdisciplinary course of extracurricular activities integrating knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics for students to develop their scientific and technological skills. 52 students from secondary schools of Engels, Yoshkar-Ola (Russia), Sholom-Aleichem Priamursky State University (Birobidzhan, Russia), Osh State University College (Osh, Kyrgyz Republic) took part in the educational experiment. The theme-based course Basic Concepts of Arduino Systems Engineering is developed based on the proprietary technology of simple projects of practical relevance. The projects render the general concept from knowledge to competence. The course consists of four modules: Start, Big Workshop/Hands-on Training, Go Ahead/Step forward, Group Design. Arduino applied in design modeling allows students to create electrical devices that would be productive in one or another area of life at a low cost. The course program is aimed at engaging students in innovative design technologies, computer programming and using robotic devices. The findings of the study were observed as part of an interview with students, educational achievement, subsequent STEM literacy test activities and the performance of game summarizing projects. The recommended method has shown the efficiency in mastering the required core set of skills of circuit design and computer programming.
