Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed various aspects of education, with large language models (LLMs) driving advancements in automated tutoring, assessment, and content generation. However, conventional LLMs are constrained by their reliance on static training data, limited adaptability, and lack of reasoning. To address these limitations and foster more sustainable technological practices, AI agents have emerged as a promising new avenue for educational innovation. In this review, we examine agentic workflows in education according to four major paradigms: reflection, planning, tool use, and multi-agent collaboration. We critically analyze the role of AI agents in education through these key design paradigms, exploring their advantages, applications, and challenges. To illustrate the practical potential of agentic systems, we present a proof-of-concept application: a multi-agent framework for automated essay scoring. Preliminary results suggest this agentic approach may offer improved consistency compared to stand-alone LLMs. Our findings highlight the transformative potential of AI agents in educational settings while underscoring the need for further research into their interpretability, trustworthiness, and sustainable impact on pedagogical impact. In this work we present the application of design based research (DBR) methodology to conduct a systematic iterative study of the design and implementation of a teaching-learning sequence (TLS) on emf (electromotive force). This work is the final part of a broader study that started with the analysis of students’ difficulties with emf in the contexts of transitory current, direct current, and electromagnetic induction. We complete our research by investigating to what extent students see emf as a cross-cutting concept. We establish the design parameters based on an epistemological analysis and the empirical data, and describe how we devised and implemented the first version of the TLS that takes 4.5 h of classroom time. We analyze the data obtained in the first implementation and describe the redesign process that resulted in a second version of the TLS that takes 1.5 h of classroom time. We conclude that both versions of the TLS effect a similar boost in student attainment of learning objectives compared to the control group.

In this paper, we combine ideas from two different scientific traditions: 1) graph transformation systems (GTSs) stemming from the theory of formal languages and concurrency, and 2) mean field approximations (MFAs), a collection of approximation techniques ubiquitous in the study of complex dynamics. Using existing tools from algebraic graph rewriting, as well as new ones, we build a framework which generates rate equations for stochastic GTSs and from which one can derive MFAs of any order (no longer limited to the humanly computable). The procedure for deriving rate equations and their approximations can be automated. An implementation and example models are available online at https://***/fragger. Detection of Coffee Bean Damage in The Roasting Process Based on Shape Features Analysis

Many studies raise the issue of analysis on the quality of coffee beans (green beans). Green beans are the term used to indicate coffee beans before roasting. The importance of analyzing the quality of coffee beans not only in coffee beans but also in rice seeds. Rice seeds are used as a mixture in the roasting process of coffee. Analysis of the quality of roasted coffee is very important. In roasted coffee beans can be damaged and changes to the coffee beans. Some types of damage to coffee beans include, blackened seeds, partially blackened seeds, browned seeds, broken seeds, perforated seeds, epidermis seeds, horned skin seeds, too young seeds, spotted seeds, and dirty seeds. This study focuses on one of the damage factors, namely broken coffee beans after broken beans. In this study, analysis of roasted coffee quality was determined by shape analysis. The shape analysis uses elongation values. there are two categories of classification, the first class of coffee is of good quality, and the second is coffee with poor grade. Classification is good if the elongation value is more than 0.85, for other conditions it is classified as bad. The results of this study have the following accuracy values, at coffee with a classification of good accuracy of 93.4%, while those at coffee with a bad classification of accuracy are 78.5%.

Entity resolution (ER) is the process of identifying which tuples/records in a dataset refer to the same real-world entity. In this paper, we primarily focus on the deduplication task for n-dimensional datasets that contain real vectors with the dimensionality 2 ≤ n ≤ 784. By presenting an algorithm with complete and disjoint space partitioning, the ER-Index with a region-tree and sorted lists will be created by a sample set of a (dirty) dataset. We utilize primary horizontal fragmentation to partition a dataset into a set of fragments, and then resolve the fragments one by one applying the ER-Index and algorithms. Extensive experiments are conducted to demonstrate the performances of our proposed approaches. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A New Constraint on the Nuclear Equation of State from Statistical Distributions of Compact Remnants of Supernovae

Understanding how matter behaves at the highest densities and temperatures is a major open problem in both nuclear physics and relativistic astrophysics. Our understanding of such behavior is often encapsulated in the so-called high-temperature nuclear equation of state, which influences compact binary mergers, core-collapse supernovae, and other phenomena. Our focus is on the type (either black hole or neutron star) and mass of the remnant of the core collapse of a massive star. For each of six candidate equations of state, we use a very large suite of spherically symmetric supernova models to generate a sample of synthetic populations of such remnants. We then compare these synthetic populations to the observed remnant population. Our study provides a novel constraint on the high-temperature nuclear equation of state and describes which EOS candidates are more or less favored by an information-theoretic metric. Water contamination by industrial dyes has become one of the major environmental challenges in recent decades. In this study, the adsorption of auramine O (Au-O) and safranin O (Sa-O) from aqueous solutions using nickel copper ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (NiCuFe 2 O 4 NPs) were investigated. These nanoparticles were synthesized via the sol-gel method and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), point of zero charge (pH pzc ), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques. Key operational parameters, including pH, ultrasonic duration, adsorbent dosage, and analyte concentration, were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) based on the Box-Behnken design. A second-order polynomial model was selected for prediction and validated through analysis of variance (ANOVA). The optimal conditions for adsorption were determined to be pH of 7, NiCuFe 2 O 4 dosage of 0.021 g, analyte concentration of 32 mg L −1 , and an ultrasound duration of 11 min. Under these conditions, the maximum removal efficiency for Au-O and Sa-O was 98.24 % and 95.77 %, respectively. The reusability tests indicated that NiCuFe 2 O 4 NPs retained their adsorption performance over four consecutive cycles without significant efficiency loss. Moreover, the adsorbent demonstrated high efficiency in treating real water samples, with removal percentages ranging from 87.35 % to 98.06 %. Therefore, NiCuFe 2 O 4 NPs can be considered a promising, cost-effective, stable, and reusable adsorbent for the treatment of industrial effluents and contaminated water resources.

Do studies show that physical and online students’ social networks support education? Analyzing interactions between students in schools and universities can provide a wealth of information. Studies on students’ social networks can help us understand their behavioral dynamics, the correlation between their friendships and academic performance, community and group formation, information diffusion, and so on. Educational goals and holistic development of students with various academic abilities and backgrounds can be achieved by incorporating the findings attained by the studies in terms of knowledge propagation in classroom and spread of delinquent behaviors. Moreover, we use Social Network Analysis (SNA) to identify isolated students, ascertain the group study culture, analyze the spreading of various habits like smoking, drinking, and so on. In this paper, we present a review of the research showing how analysis of students’ social networks can help us identify how improved educational methods can be used to make learning more inclusive at both school and university levels and achieve holistic development of students through expansion of their social networks, as well as control the spread of delinquent behaviors. Identification of the football teams assessment model using the COMET method

Many people, organizations and managers try to assess the performance of the football teams and seek new improved approaches. Rankings are an unavoidable part of the football world, where high competitiveness and efficiency is a natural factor. One of the techniques to deal with such problems is the use of multi-criteria decision-analysis methods (MCDA), offering an effective approach to not only ranking but also assessing, selecting and sorting given alternatives. In this paper, the Characteristic Objects METhod (COMET) is used in order to create a performance ranking of the top-tier football clubs. The assessment model is identified and compared with the existing benchmark ranking by the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.

Influence of various normalization methods in PROMETHEE II: an empirical study on the selection of the airport location

Multi-criteria decision-analysis (MCDA) is a popular field of study with implementations in various areas, such as supply chain management, logistics, engineering, health, sustainable development, to name a few. The normalization of the data considered in such challenges (decision matrix) is an essential step of many MCDA methods. Different normalization techniques can influence the results obtained, and hence, generate different final rankings. In this paper, the investigation of normalization effects is conducted in the PROMETHEE II method. Five different normalization methods were used and additionally, the case without normalization was examined. In order to compare the influence of various normalization methods, an empirical study on the selection of the location of the airport was analyzed, with ten alternatives and seven criteria. The outcomes of investigation of normalization effects in regard to the PROMETHEE II method prove that they do have an impact on the final rankings.
