In recent years, the country has released a large number of standard documents related to prefabricated concrete components. Due to the dispersion and complexity of these standards, it is difficult for industry managers to implement them. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a knowledge graph in the field of quality standards for precast concrete components to achieve knowledge management. The construction of knowledge graph first requires named entity recognition, but due to the specificity of the construction industry, entity recognition of the text in this field still suffers from the problems of low recognition accuracy and high resource consumption. Aiming at the low recognition accuracy and high resource consumption in named entity recognition due to the specificity of the industry, this paper proposes a named entity recognition model ALBERT-BiLSTM-SA-CRF for the field of precast concrete component quality standard, which can capture the full text and local feature information more effectively through the combination of BiLSTM and self-attention mechanism, and accurately recognize entities in the standard. Meanwhile, using ALBERT as the word embedding layer can play the role of reducing resource consumption and improving processing efficiency. © 2025 The Authors.

Point cloud data in the form of LiDAR is often utilized for its spatial qualities, especially in smart city projects for tasks involving vehicles and pedestrians. However, the process in which LiDAR data is acquired can be cumbersome to setup and automate. In this paper, we introduce a streaming and an on-demand pipeline for capturing LiDAR data from Velodyne Ultra Pucks placed along northern Nevada intersections known as the Living Lab as part of a smart city project for the city of Reno. The data coming from these intersections consist of the following formats: ROS 2 bag file, PCD, LAZ, Google Draco, and PCAP. A streaming point cloud service with PCD, LAZ, and Draco was implemented to stream any of these formats, as well as to allow the user to capture the current monitored point cloud. Additionally, two on-demand web services were implemented for both the PCAP and ROS 2 bag file to enable a user to start and stop the acquisition of LiDAR data in these formats. Through our analysis, it was discovered that Draco provided the best processing time and had a wider range of options that affected the quality of the point cloud. To evaluate this pipeline, the features of existing software were compared and a discussion was provided with an analysis of the point cloud formats. © 2024 IEEE.

Regular monitoring of the maintenance manhole system is imperative to uphold the city's health and cleanliness standards. Our study offers an intelligent manhole that monitors the manhole's condition, water level, and gases. We tested the status, gas, and water levels of our revolutionary, innovative manhole in several places. Our system's Blink app position tracking of our smart manhole is critical. This capability improves monitoring efficiency and speeds up issue resolution. Our work revolutionizes municipal utility maintenance and safety by optimizing manhole performance. Integrating a Node MCU, GPS module, gas sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and Android Blynk software creates a complete real-time monitoring and data-collecting system. Combining these technologies, our Manhole Monitoring system improves safety and streamlines maintenance, making municipal infrastructure more robust and efficient. This paper highlights the promising features of IoT and shows how it may be used to improve the smart manhole. In the future, this creative method may result in a more durable and better intelligent city. © 2024 IEEE.

Imitation learning that mimics experts' skills from their demonstrations has shown great success in discovering dynamic treatment regimes, i.e., the optimal decision rules to treat an individual patient based on related evolving treatment and covariate history. Existing imitation learning methods, however, still lack the capability to interpret the underlying rationales of the learned policy in a faithful way. Moreover, since dynamic treatment regimes for patients often exhibit varying patterns, i.e., symptoms that transit from one to another, the flat policy learned by a vanilla imitation learning method is typically undesired. To this end, we propose an Interpretable Skill Learning (ISL) framework to resolve the aforementioned challenges for dynamic treatment regimes through imitation. The key idea is to model each segment of experts' demonstrations with a prototype layer and integrate it with the imitation learning layer to enhance the interpretation capability. On one hand, the ISL framework is able to provide interpretable explanations by matching the prototype to exemplar segments during the inference stage, which enables doctors to perform reasoning of the learned demonstrations based on human-understandable patient symptoms and lab results. On the other hand, the obtained skill embedding consisting of prototypes serves as conditional information to the imitation learning layer, which implicitly guides the policy network to provide a more accurate demonstration when the patients' state switches from one stage to another. Thoroughly empirical studies demonstrate that our proposed ISL technique can achieve better performance than state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, the proposed ISL framework also exhibits good interpretability which cannot be observed in existing methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Identifying a picture's content based on its attributes is a fundamental task in computer vision known as image classification. In this article, we provide a study on the use of machine learning algorithms to categorize images of paintings and photographs. We investigate the performance of different models, such as decision trees, convolutional neural networks, and support vector machines, on this problem. We also look into how data preprocessing methods and hyperparameter tuning affect how well the models perform. According to the results of our experiments, CNNs classify artworks and photographs with an accuracy of 98%, which is the highest. © 2023 IEEE.

Traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR) is a crucial technology to realize vehicle autonomous driving and maintain road safety. Misdetection or misclassification of traffic signs can lead to serious traffic accidents. Therefore, it is essential to ensure the correctness of traffic sign detection and recognition systems. However, most existing methods use labeled data, but it isn't easy to obtain labeled data. The metamorphic testing can reduce the dependence on the labeled data, but the current metamorphic relations do not consider the domain characteristics of traffic signs, so it is difficult to effectively detect traffic sign detection and recognition systems faults. To solve the above problems, this paper introduces metamorphic testing to verify traffic sign detection and recognition systems and designs and implements a tool, MTSDR, which provides a series of metamorphic relations in the traffic domain. It can generate many follow-up test images based on these metamorphic relations and automatically performs tests for evaluation, focusing on practical failure situations. The experimental evaluation was carried out on four advanced traffic sign detection and recognition models on open datasets. The results show that MTSDR can generate natural images and find thousands of traffic sign detection and recognition faults. Compared with the previous methods, our method has a higher fault detection capability, and the highest fault detection rate reaches more than 40%. In addition, it finds that retraining the traffic sign detection and recognition models using the images that found the fault can improve the model's performance, reduce its fault, and reduce the fault rate by 11.77% on average. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new information technology sector in which each device may receive and distribute data across a network. Industrial IoT (IIoT) and related areas, such as Industrial Wireless Networks (IWNs), big data, and cloud computing, have made significant strides recently. Using IIoT requires a reliable and effective data collection system, such as a spanning tree. Many previous spanning tree algorithms ignore failure and mobility. In such cases, the spanning tree is broken, making data delivery to the base station difficult. This study proposes an algorithm to construct an optimal spanning tree by combining an artificial bee colony, genetic operators, and density correlation degree to make suitable trees. The trees’ fitness is measured using hop count distances of the devices from the base station, residual energy of the devices, and their mobility probabilities in this technique. The simulation outcomes highlight the enhanced data collection reliability achieved by the suggested algorithm when compared to established methods like the Reliable Spanning Tree (RST) construction algorithm in IIoT and the Hop Count Distance (HCD) based construction algorithm. This proposed algorithm shows improved reliability across diverse node numbers, considering key parameters including reliability, energy consumption, displacement probability, and distance. © The Author(s) 2024.

Improving Arabic Text Classification Using P-Stemmer

Introduction: Stemming is an important preprocessing step in text classification, and could contribute to increasing text classification accuracy. Although many works have proposed stemmers for the English language, few stemmers have been proposed for Arabic text. Arabic language has gained increasing attention in the previous decades and the need to further improve Arabic text classification. Methods: This work combined the use of the recently proposed P-stemmer with various classifiers to find the optimal classifier for the P-stemmer in terms of Arabic text classification. As part of this work, a synthesized dataset was collected. Results: The previous experiments show that the use of P-stemmer has a positive effect on classification. The degree of improvement is classifier-dependent, which is reasonable as classifiers vary in their methodologies. Moreover, the experiments show that the best classifier with the P-Stemmer is NB. This is an interesting result as this classifier is well-known for its fast learning and classification time. Discussion: First, the continuous improvement of the P-stemmer by more optimization steps is necessary to further improve the Arabic text categorization. This can be made by combining more classifiers with the stemmer, by optimizing the other natural language processing steps, and by improving the set of stemming rules. Second, the lack of sufficient Arabic datasets, especially large ones, is still an issue. Conclusion: In this work, an improved P-stemmer was proposed by combining its use with various classifiers. In order to evaluate its performance, and due to the lack of Arabic datasets, a novel Arabic dataset was synthesized from various online news pages. Next, the P-stemmer was combined with Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, Support Vector Machines, K-Nearest Neighbor, and K-Star. © 2022 Bentham science Publishers.

Efficient Remote Memory Paging for Disaggregated Memory systems 1

Memory disaggregation has attracted increasing attention in recent years because it is a cost-efficient approach to scale memory capacity for applications in a data center. However, the latency of remote memory access is a major concern in disaggregated memory systems. This paper presents VANDI, a virtual memory paging mechanism that allows applications to use remote memory pools transparently. VANDI enables effective data caching and prefetching mechanisms to address the problem of high access latency in disaggregated memory systems. VANDI exploits a low-complexity cache replacement strategy to optimize the asynchronous staging queue so that the remote write latency can be significantly reduced. VANDI can also prefetch data in multi-granularity from a remote memory pool in an adaptive manner, and thus further improves the hit rate of the local cache to reduce the read latency of remote memory. Our extensive experiments using micro-benchmarks show that VANDI can improve the performance of typical remote paging system–Infiniswap by up to 15 × –102 ×. VANDI can also improve the performance of state-of-the-art disaggregated memory system–Valet by 1.2 × –2.7 ×. For typical machine learning workloads, VANDI can achieve 20% to 80% performance improvement compared with the state-of-the-art Valet. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
