Dispatcher: Resource-aware Nakamoto Blockchain via Hierarchical Topology and Adaptive Incentives

Mainstream blockchain systems such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are revolutionizing the financial industry by adopting the Nakamoto consensus protocol, i.e., Proof-of-Work (PoW). Only nodes with sufficient computing resources can work out the PoW difficulties, thereby increasing the mining cost of malicious attackers and ensuring the security of blockchain systems. Such an assumption of having abundant resources leads to drawbacks of low throughput and risk of centralization. In this article, we present Dispatcher, a novel distributed consensus protocol that takes resource heterogeneity into account to ensure resource-aware PoW with high efficiency. Dispatcher introduces a hierarchical topology to offer flexible PoW difficulties tailored for different nodes’ resources. In particular, it utilizes the limited resource of each node to jointly maximize the performance by concurrent mining. Moreover, we design an adaptive incentive mechanism to fit the available resource of blockchain nodes to rewards. Our experiments show that Dispatcher enjoys a substantial performance margin over the state-of-the-art. We can achieve a 50% throughput improvement compared with OHIE.

Document retrieval plays an essential role in many real-world applications especially when the data storage is outsourced. Due to the great advantages offered by cloud computing, clients tend to outsource their personal data to remote servers maintained by external service providers. This raises serious privacy concerns about outsourced data because such providers are usually considered untrusted entities. The majority of previous schemes of document similarity search share the same limitation: they focus mainly on static collections. Dynamic searchable schemes (DSE) allow adding or removing documents at the expense of more leakage than static schemes. To thwart certain attacks, DSE schemes should support forward privacy property, which ensures that newly added documents cannot be related to previously issued search queries. We design and implement dynamic secure similarity search schemes with forward privacy for textual documents utilizing simhash method for hamming similarity. Our scheme provides an efficient search time and a sufficient level of privacy. To show the practicality of our proposed scheme, we performed excremental results with large document collections. © 2023 IEEE.

Phase and polarization selection facilitated by the self-healing properties of Airy beams

Airy beams, known for their self-healing properties, present significant challenges in selecting and modulating phase and polarization singularities inherent to the beam itself. Through theoretical and experimental analyses, this paper compares the self-healing behaviors of phase vortex Airy beams (VoABs) and polarization vector vortex Airy beams (VVABs) from fracture to reconstruction during free space propagation. Experimental results demonstrate that while the degree of main lobe fracture is similar for both beams at the same order, they have different self-healing processes, enabling selective modulation of both phase and polarization attributes during self-healing. The self-healing phenomenon of VVABs was revealed via the transverse Poynting vector, which demonstrated that lateral energy converges toward the direction of the main lobe’s rupture, with the cessation of energy flow convergence marking the completion of the self-healing process. Furthermore, the polarization-selective properties of VVABs were observed, revealing significant differences between 1- and 2-order VVABs, which enabled polarization selection for both the main lobe and sidelobe energy. Experimental results align closely with numerical simulations. This study will provide new, to the best of our knowledge, insights and methodological guidance for the self-healing modulation of Airy vortex beams, with potential applications in fields such as optical communications, optical tweezers, microscopy, and particle manipulation.

We investigate the equilibrium stability and robustness in a class of moving target defense problems, in which players have both incomplete information and asymmetric cognition. We first establish a Bayesian Stackelberg game model for incomplete information and then employ a hypergame reformulation to address asymmetric cognition. With the core concept of the hyper Bayesian Nash equilibrium (HBNE), a condition for achieving both the strategic and cognitive stability in equilibria can be realized by solving linear equations. Moreover, to deal with players' underlying perturbed knowledge, we study the equilibrium robustness by presenting a condition of robust HBNE under the given configuration. Experiments evaluate our theoretical results. © 2024 IEEE.

There are some defects on the surface of steel that are difficult to detect, so we propose an improved algorithm based on YOLOv8 for detecting defects that are difficult to be detected. This improvement includes the introduction of an SPD module to minimize the problem of information loss due to downsampling;the addition of a small object detection head combined with EMA attention to further enhance the detection capabilities for small targets;the use of BiFPN to replace the original PANet, applying different weights to different features to strengthen feature fusion. Experiments were conducted on the NEU-DET dataset, and the algorithm improved mAP to 80.2%, an improvement of 3.9% over the baseline model. © 2024 IEEE.

With the introduction of IIoT systems, industry breakthroughs and linked smart objects revolutionize the world. The enemies are finding a lot of room to launch a number of devastating cyber assaults thanks to all this connection and dependability. However, implementing IDS systems may be tough due to the absence of dataset for training as well as testing. This makes it difficult to detect likely cyberattacks with the required accuracy. The method of detection might not be able to learn perfectly and detect cyberattacks significantly higher precision if there aren't enough records related to every threat category in the dataset. In addition, the detection of breaches procedure is becoming more complicated due to unbalanced datasets. In this light, our research suggests a more effective GAN-based IDS model for creating simulated data samples that can fool and evade security systems before directing the real-life network assault. To be more specific, it creates fictitious datasets and trains IDS on these in conjunction with the actual data in order to boost the system's efficiency. The specifics of the Improved Generative Adversarial Network-based Intrusion Detection system (IGAN-IDS) model that is suggested in this study are described in this section. With an accuracy of 99.6 percent, the suggested IGAN-IDS model surpasses all of its competitors, including BSA-IDS, GAN, MLP-GAN, Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE), and ADASYN. This proves that it outperforms all other approaches when it comes to classification.

In addressing issues like an excessive number of network parameters and the loss of fine texture details in image super-resolution reconstruction approaches based on diffusion models, this passage introduces a novel image super-resolution model (FELSDiff). This model relies on the fusion of diffusion models, feature extraction, and latent space. FELSDiff utilizes a Pre-trained CNN for initial super-resolution to extract the primary low-band features and part high-band features of the image. The preliminary super-resolved image is then concatenated as a condition to this model. We introduce a cross-attention mechanism guided by the high-band features of the preliminary super-resolved image to enhance the network's feature extraction capability and obtain more effective features. In the U-Net structure, we incorporate a latent space strategy, enabling the model's training and inference processes to be conducted in the latent space, thereby reducing the number of network parameters. Experimental results on multiple standard datasets indicate that this method outperforms other advanced methods overall. © 2024 IEEE.

This Genetic disorder is considered as one of the major challenges faced by Medical sciences as it is inherited by humans from one generation to another. With an increasing number of natives of the World at a higher rate, it causes a major impact on information society socially and economically during their lifetime. The citizens of Pakistan and Indian sub continents are facing genomic disease in probably high frequency as compared to other continents. Occurrence of congenital diseases in Pakistan results in higher percentages of unusual genetic diseases especially in children. After analyzing all the current scenarios, some goals and objectives were settled in order to facilitate and give general awareness to people. The objectives of systematic review are evaluation of diagnostic accuracy of AI for the identification of genome contributions to the pathogenesis of Huntington's disease through facial probe AI to accurately identify genetic disorders. The narrative review is performed in Ned University. In this proceeding sequence, 30 cases of both Normal and Genetically affected Patients were documented in which some certain sorts of tests were performed by using facial recognition. For this FR test, at first a combo list of information of all six emotions of a human being i.e. (Happy, Sorrow, Amazed, Fear, Anger, Revulsion) is gathered in the form of mutated images, which was then later be arranged into a pseudo-random order. Now with the help of Vision Technology we have applied some CV Techniques for the extraction of large pattern sets of features. Lastly the purpose of ML and DL techniques is to receive and compare those morphed image data from the Facial Database in order to identify each of six different emotions of HDNormal Person. This whole procedure is conducted in real time. Hence in this way we may recognize the HD genetic disorder among the people in an efficient way. Investing and researchers alike have long been fascinated by the volatile and dynamic nature of financial markets. For the prediction and analysis of stock market movements, we present a hybrid approach that combines Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD). Leveraging the power of deep learning and technical analysis, this hybrid model offers a comprehensive solution for forecasting and understanding market trends. The LSTM component, a type of recurrent neural network, provides the model with the ability to capture and learn intricate patterns in historical stock price data, thus enabling accurate short and long-term predictions. The MACD indicator, a widely used tool in technical analysis, supplements the LSTM by identifying potential reversal points and providing valuable insights into market momentum. A hybrid approach will provide a stronger and more reliable forecasting framework by combining both LSTM and MACD. To validate the model's efficacy, we apply it to historical stock market data and conduct a thorough analysis of its predictive performance. Our findings suggest that the Hybrid LSTM-MACD approach outperforms traditional methods and offers a promising solution for investors, traders, and financial analysts seeking to navigate the complex world of stock market trading.
