In B5G networks, accurate symbol timing estimate and estimation of the carrier frequency offset are both absolutely necessary. Particularly in highly mobile and interference-ridden settings, these factors are of paramount importance for sustaining high-throughput, dependable wireless communication. Estimating symbol timing and carrier frequency offset in OTFS can be difficult due to factors including the time-varying nature of Doppler shifts and interference from surrounding cells as well as the non-stationary nature of wireless channels. In such changing settings, traditional algorithms often fail to produce reliable estimations. To account for frequency changes caused by things like Doppler effects and drift, this research uses Machine Learning-Based Carrier Frequency Prediction Analysis (ML-CFPA) to implement a dynamic carrier frequency offset estimation and correction system. To preserve signal coherence and lower interference in B5G settings, carrier frequency offset adjustment is essential. Communication solutions with high performance are required for these applications to ensure they can function normally despite the complexity and changeability of their contexts. The outcomes demonstrate the higher performance of the algorithm in contrast to conventional approaches, highlighting its applicability to B5G networks. Its potential as a crucial enabling technology for the B5G future has been solidified by these simulations, which verify its capacity to maintain reliable communication under a variety of real-world conditions.

PALoc: Advancing SLAM Benchmarking with Prior-Assisted 6-DoF Trajectory Generation and Uncertainty Estimation

Accurately generating ground truth (GT) trajectories is essential for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) evaluation, particularly under varying environmental conditions. This study presents PALoc, a systematic approach that leverages a prior map-assisted framework for the first-time generation of dense six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) GT poses, significantly enhancing the fidelity of SLAM benchmarks across both indoor and outdoor environments. Our method excels in handling degenerate and stationary conditions frequently encountered in SLAM datasets, thereby increasing robustness and precision. A critical feature of PALoc is the detailed derivation of covariance within the factor graph, enabling an in-depth analysis of pose uncertainty propagation. This analysis plays a pivotal role in illustrating specific pose uncertainty and in elevating trajectory reliability from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Additionally, we provide an opensource toolbox1 for the criteria of map evaluation, facilitating the indirect assessment of overall trajectory precision. Experimental results show at least a 30% improvement in map accuracy and a 20% increase in direct trajectory accuracy compared to the Iterative Closest Point (ICP) [1] algorithm across diverse environments, with substantially enhanced robustness. Our publicly available solution, PALoc2, extensively applied in the FusionPortable [2] dataset, is geared towards SLAM benchmark augmentation and represents a significant advancement in SLAM evaluation. Aspect based sentiment analysis (ABSA) is regards as the most demanding area of research in the field of text mining and natural language processing. In the last decade, people tend to be more interested in consulting online media outlets to make decisions concerning products or events. However, the existing ABSA approaches alone are not sufficient in providing comprehensive information required to make an informed decision. Most of the early studies focused on the binary classification of 'positive' and 'negative' to predict an overall sentiment of a review, which reduced the effectiveness in decision making towards the entities. Even though earlier studies on SA are centered on aspect extraction, there are limited works that effectively combine aspect extraction with emotional affects such as surprise, sadness and happiness, which consequently leads to incomplete meaning of a content. In this paper, we investigate a problem involving aspects in relation to emotional affects. To propose a novel supervised approach for the aspect extraction with their associated emotion classes in sentiment analysis (SA), we conducted an analysis of some prominent ABSA approaches. This research work will lead to a more accurate results of SA and could assist both novice and prominent researchers in comprehending the relationship between aspects and emotions in SA considering its sematic role in business intelligence. © 2021 IEEE.

In bathrooms, a fall can lead to severe injuries or even drowning. While taking preventive measures against such accidents is crucial, it's equally important to swiftly detect and request rescue when they occur. In such scenarios, knowing the exact location of the person in the bathroom becomes critical. However, concerns related to privacy and costs make the use of cameras and lidar impractical. To address these issues, we propose a method for estimating the 3D location of a person within the bathroom using ultrasound correlation values as input for a deep neural network. To validate our approach, we conduct experiments using two sensors in this study. The results are promising, as we achieved a mean square error of just 10.48 cm.

Independent mobility is an important feature of an individual's normal life and with the elderly population continually growing, assistive devices such as walkers and canes provide help and guidance to users. Freezing of Gait (FoG) is an episodic phenomenon that is a common symptom of an age-related disease known as Parkinson Disease (PD). This paper is headed toward implementing a detection, diagnosis and correction system for FoG episodes. The proposed cane will generate visual, auditory and tactile cues to help patients overcome this problem, therefore reducing fall risks. In addition, a vibrating calf cuff will be attached to the calf for muscle stimulation. A compatible android phone application is designed to display heart rate measurements of the patient as well as his exact location in case of fall detection. The system is considered to be an electrically safe, portable, comfortable and a low-cost device. The performance of this system is analyzed thoroughly and the accuracy of all methodologies is considered carefully and evaluated. The results have shown no faulty errors and good accuracy and detection percentages. © 2021 IEEE.

The research herein proposes a position control system, designed for a single-port surgical robot, based on the lockup table method. The programmable logic controller (PLC) was implemented to move the single- port surgical robot and handle laparoscope and surgical instruments with feedback control. The output responses of the desired angle were investigated under several conditions. The rotating angle allows movement of the laparoscope in the range of -10o to +10o. The error of the desired position of the designed system was less than approximately ± 0.1o. Moreover, the output data from several experiments may be employed to improve the open-loop control systems. This system is also capable of providing computer vision task implementation, enabling semi- automatic or automatic surgery in the future. © 2022 IEEE.

The integration of the Metaverse into the educational sector heralds a transformative era in teaching and learning paradigms, with the ASEAN region at its forefront. This manuscript examines the Metaverse's potential to transcend traditional educational barriers such as resource limitations, geographic isolation, and the lack of personalized learning. Active case studies from Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University (NPRU), Thailand, the University of Central Punjab (UCP), Pakistan, the National Electronics and computer Technology Center, Thailand, and Chuo University, Japan, are presented to offer a comprehensive overview of the Metaverse's current applications. These case studies showcase the Metaverse's role in creating inclusive, immersive, and engaging educational experiences. The paper identifies critical research gaps in technological feasibility, pedagogical adaptation, and equitable access that need bridging to harness the Metaverse's full potential. It underscores the necessity for robust technological infrastructure, innovative teaching methodologies for 3D learning environments, and inclusivity strategies for diverse socioeconomic and physical ability spectra. The inclusion of Chuo University's advancements extends the discourse beyond ASEAN, indicating the global momentum of Metaverse adoption in education. The paper posits that ASEAN's venture into this digital frontier, alongside international collaborations, prepares the ground for a more interconnected and technologically advanced future. This investigation into the ASEAN region and its collaboration with Japanese innovation underscores a unique global position, suggesting that the convergence of technology and education is key to resolving deep-rooted disparities in educational access and quality.

Feature selection is one part of preprocessing which aims to reduce data dimensions. This study aims to produce optimal performance of the best feature selection method implemented on low- and high-dimensional data. The feature selection methods used are Sequential Forward Selection (SFwS) and Sequential Backward Selection (SBwS) algorithms. Meanwhile, to test the results of the best feature selection algorithm using the classification algorithm Logistic Regression, Linear Regression, k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN). The low dimensional data test results show that the SFS algorithm with the kNN classifier and the Regression group has the best average score. The SFwS algorithm with Logistic Regression has the best average score in the high dimensional data set. The minimal number of feature selections resulted from the SFwS algorithm rather than the SBwF algorithm. Although it should have the same accuracy or number of selected features, in this study, the results were different except for SFS-Linear Regression. The highest average accuracy score for low dimensional data is the Wine dataset of 0.994 (SFS-kNN), and for high dimensional data is the Parkinson’s disease dataset of 1 (SFS-LGR). The least number of feature selections obtained from the SFwS-Logistic Regression algorithm is one feature with an accuracy score of 0.8083. The Sequential Backward Selection algorithm generally has a longer running time than the Sequential Forward Selection.

PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) are a type of small non-coding RNAs which bind with the PIWI proteins to exert biological effects in various regulatory mechanisms. A growing amount of evidence reveals that exosomal piRNAs are potential biomarkers for diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases. Effective methods for the prediction of exosomal piRNAs are the foundation of piRNA functional research. In this study, we propose an end-to-end deep network for identifying exosomal piRNAs based on features learned from natural language processing (NLP) models for sequence embedding with attention mechanism. First, a benchmark dataset is constructed by processing piRNA subcellular localization annotated data and sequence data. Moreover, bagging positive unlabeled learning is applied to get the reliable negative set. Finally, we treat a piRNA sequence as a sentence and its k-mer subsequence as a token. Sequence embedding models with self-attention mechanism is designed to extract features from exosome piRNA sequences, which are used for the prediction task. Compared with three competing methods, our model achieves the best performance and reveals the key factors of exosomal piRNA sequences by the attention mechanism. Our model characterizes exosomal piRNAs and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate exosomal piRNAs' functions. © 2022 IEEE.
