This study proposed a lightweight and secure audio steganography system for hiding text messages during transmission over the Internet to address the computational cost exaggeration, and Insufficient levels of security in earlier studies. The paper proposes a two-phase functioning mechanism. Text characters are transformed into ASCII code and then stored in a vector, which is then divided into three sub-vectors. The sub-vectors are scrambled using a two low complexity operation, namely a forwardbackward reading technique and an odd-even index. Two scrambling circuits can be performed: the first on tiny sub-vectors and another on the vector as a whole. In the hiding phase, the speech signal samples were divided into 256 blocks using only 200 values per block, and low complexity Quadratic and the Hénon maps to hide the speech signal in a random manner. This method utilizes the conditional LSB as low complexity algorithm to identify hidden bits and a special hyperchaotic map algorithm for randomly choosing locations. The proposed approach provides good security for a scrambled text message with high SNR and PSNR, small MSE error and PESQ, SSIM near one, BER close to zero, and MOS near five as well as the lowest computational hiding cost. © 2023, The Authors. Histopathological examination of tissue slides is considered the gold standard for clinical cancer diagnosis. However, it heavily relies on pathologists' subjective judgment and involves substantial workload. Existing convolutional neural network (CNN)-based whole slide image (WSI) diagnostic methods suffer from high annotation costs and complex data acquisition processes. Therefore, this study proposes a weakly supervised multiple instance learning method based on self-supervised contrastive learning (CL-MIL) for WSI classification. By integrating self-supervised contrastive learning strategies, leveraging data augmentation through H&E stain separation, and introducing causal intervention via backdoor adjustment to mitigate dataset bias, our approach significantly enhances feature representation and classification performance in pathological images. Experimental results on the Camelyon16 and TCGA lung cancer datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms other comparable WSI classification models across various evaluation metrics, achieving higher diagnostic efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, our method exhibits good interpretability, enabling precise localization of pathological regions and providing robust technical support for clinical applications.

Link prediction analysis becomes vital to acquire a deeper understanding of events underlying social networks interactions and connections especially in current evolving and large-scale social networks. Traditional link prediction approaches underperformed for most large-scale social networks in terms of its scalability and efficiency. Spark is a distributed open-source framework that facilitate scalable link prediction efficiency in large-scale social networks. The framework provides numerous tunable properties for users to manually configure the parameters for the applications. However, manual configurations open to performance issue when the applications start scaling tremendously, which is hard to set up and expose to human errors. This paper introduced a novel Self-Configured Framework (SCF) to provide an autonomous feature in Spark that predicts and sets the best configuration instantly before the application execution using XGBoost classifier. SCF is evaluated on the Twitter social network using three link prediction applications: Graph Clustering (GC), Overlapping Community Detection (OCD), and Redundant Graph Clustering (RGD) to assess the impact of shifting data sizes on different applications in Twitter. The result demonstrates a 40% reduction in prediction time as well as a balanced resource consumption that makes full use of resources, especially for limited number and size of clusters. © 2022, CC BY.

Enhancing Acute Kidney Injury Prediction through Integration of Drug Features in Intensive Care Units

The relationship between acute kidney injury (AKI) prediction and nephrotoxic drugs, or drugs that adversely affect kidney function, is one that has yet to be explored in the critical care setting. One contributing factor to this gap in research is the limited investigation of drug modalities in the intensive care unit (ICU) context, due to the challenges of processing prescription data into the corresponding drug representations and a lack in the comprehensive understanding of these drug representations. This study addresses this gap by proposing a novel approach that leverages patient prescription data as a modality to improve existing models for AKI prediction. We base our research on Electronic Health Record (EHR) data, extracting the relevant patient prescription information and converting it into the selected drug representation for our research, the extended-connectivity fingerprint (ECFP). Furthermore, we adopt a unique multimodal approach, developing machine learning models and 1D Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) applied to clinical drug representations, establishing a procedure which has not been used by any previous studies predicting AKI. The findings showcase a notable improvement in AKI prediction through the integration of drug embeddings and other patient cohort features. By using drug features represented as ECFP molecular fingerprints along with common cohort features such as demographics and lab test values, we achieved a considerable improvement in model performance for the AKI prediction task over the baseline model which does not include the drug representations as features, indicating that our distinct approach enhances existing baseline techniques and highlights the relevance of drug data in predicting AKI in the ICU setting. Deep learning-based real time detection for cardiac objects with fetal ultrasound video

Fetal cardiac anatomical structure interpretation by ultrasound (US) is a key part of prenatal assessment. Unfortunately, the numerous speckles in US video, the small size of fetal cardiac structures, and unfixed fetal positions make manual detection processes difficult. To alleviate such problems, a deep learning model was developed to fully automate the processing of fetal echocardiographs with 2-dimensional cross-sectional images. The weakness of such an approach is that a physician immediately interprets US video with 3-dimensional objects to diagnose patients in clinical practice. To improve fetal cardiac anatomical structure interpretation via US for accurate and real time diagnosis, this paper proposes a real-time fetal cardiac substructure detection using US video with the You Only Look Once (YOLO) framework. In YOLO, an end-to-end neural network makes predictions for cardiac substructure objects, boxes, and class probabilities simultaneously. To achieve reliable performance, 40 fetal echocardiography videos were trained with the new YOLOv7 architecture and fine-tuned to work optimally and run efficiently. We conducted with nine fetal cardiac substructure objects such as the left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle, tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve, mitral valve, aortic valve, and aorta. The results yielded the highest mean average precision of 82.10%, reaching 17 frames per second (FPS) for nine cardiac substructure objects in 0.3 ms. The main finding of our study is that with even a limited number of US videos, YOLOv7 can detect fetal cardiac substructure objects in real-time. Such a network can work efficiently to detect small fetal cardiac objects automatically in a rapid phase with the help of proper fine-tuning. This work mainly assists medical experts in the fetal cardiac anatomy diagnostic process. © 2022 The Authors

A Dimensional Structure based Knowledge Distillation Method for Cross-Modal Learning

Due to limitations in data quality, some essential visual tasks are difficult to perform independently. Introducing previously unavailable information to transfer informative dark knowledge has been a common way to solve such hard tasks. However, research on why transferred knowledge works has not been extensively explored. To address this issue, in this paper, we discover the correlation between feature discriminability and dimensional structure (DS) by analyzing and observing features extracted from simple and hard tasks. On this basis, we express DS using deep channel-wise correlation and intermediate spatial distribution, and propose a novel cross-modal knowledge distillation (CMKD) method for better supervised cross-modal learning (CML) performance. The proposed method enforces output features to be channel-wise independent and intermediate ones to be uniformly distributed, thereby learning semantically irrelevant features from the hard task to boost its accuracy. This is especially useful in specific applications where the performance gap between dual modalities is relatively large. Furthermore, we collect a real-world CML dataset to promote community development. The dataset contains more than 10, 000 paired optical and radar images and is continuously being updated. Because of its high incidence and high mortality rate, breast cancer requires reliable means of early detection and diagnosis to improve survival rates for its patients. With advantages including increased accuracy and efficiency, deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) methods are quickly becoming indispensable in the fight against breast cancer. However, there is a need for additional study because existing approaches have scalability and performance constraints. Utilizing a pre-trained ResNet50V2 and ensemble-based ML approaches, we offer a hybrid approach to reliable breast cancer diagnosis in this study. Learning and extracting latent trends from complex breast-cancer(BC) images is made possible by DL's incorporation, with ML strategies contributing interpretability and generalizability. We performed wide experiments utilizing a openly accessible Invasive-Ductal-Carcinoma(IDC) dataset based on breast histopathology images of varying sample sizes. The resilience and great performance of our hybrid model are supported by the results of our extensive experiments. When compared to state-of-the-art models, our 95% accuracy rate, 94.5 precision, 94.2 recall, and 94.6 F1 score are all improvements. We also found that the best ML model to use with the ResNet50V2 architecture is the Light Boosting Classifier (LGB). This study's findings provide substantial contributions to the field of breast cancer diagnosis thanks to its novel approach, in-depth performance analysis, and trustworthy evaluation. In addition, it may help doctors make better decisions, provide better care, and boost results for people with breast cancer.

With the arrival of new technologies, the farm business is always changing. It is one of the most important in the world. The Internet of Things (loT) is one of the most exciting new technologies of the past few years. It could completely change the way we farm. We look at the literature about loT in agriculture over the last five years in this study. According to our findings, the use of loT in agriculture has been steadily increasing over the previous five years. This research provides a bibliometric evaluation of academic papers covering the years 2018–2022, with an emphasis on the Internet of Things (loT) in the agricultural sector. The analysis is performed using data obtained from the Scopus database. 120 documents were chosen and evaluated to acquire insights on the present state of research in this topic. Co-citation analysis identified wearable technology, farmers, loT devices, food, and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) as prominent research subjects in the agricultural industry's use of the Internet of Things (loT). The findings can provide valuable insights for scholars, practitioners, funding agencies, and policymakers in comprehending the patterns and focal points in this domain. The authors and institutes highlighted in this analysis are useful resources for collaborating and staying updated on the newest advances in the loT for Agriculture Industry.

This study addresses a distributed controller design problem for discrete-time systems using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Sparsity constraints on control gains of distributed controllers result in conservatism via the convexification of the existing methods such as the extended LMI method. In order to mitigate the conservatism, we introduce a novel LMI formulation for this problem, utilizing the clique-wise decomposition method from our previous work on continuous-time systems. By reformulating the sparsity constraint on the gain matrix within cliques, this method achieves a broader solution set. Gaussian Splatting SLAMs have made significant advancements in improving the efficiency and fidelity of real-time reconstructions. However, these systems often encounter incomplete reconstructions in complex indoor environments, characterized by substantial holes due to unobserved geometry caused by obstacles or limited view angles. To address this challenge, we present Manhattan Gaussian SLAM, an RGB-D system that leverages the Manhattan World hypothesis to enhance geometric accuracy and completeness. By seamlessly integrating fused line segments derived from structured scenes, our method ensures robust tracking in textureless indoor areas. Moreover, The extracted lines and planar surface assumption allow strategic interpolation of new Gaussians in regions of missing geometry, enabling efficient scene completion. Extensive experiments conducted on both synthetic and real-world scenes demonstrate that these advancements enable our method to achieve state-of-the-art performance, marking a substantial improvement in the capabilities of Gaussian SLAM systems. © 2024, CC BY.
