Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

Speech Recognition focuses on developing advanced technologies that can recognize and translate spoken language into text. Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that captures human voice from a mi-crophone and analyzes it based on spoken words to comprehend natural language. In Ethiopia, ASR models have been developed for specific local languages such as Amharic, Tigrigna, Wolaytta, and Afaan Oromo, but there has been a lack of research on ASR models for the Hadiyyisa language, which is also spoken in Ethiopia. The research study designed and developed an ASR model for the Hadiyyisa language. The researchers collected data from native speakers of the Hadiyyisa language and used Python programming to design and develop the deep learning model for the Hadiyissa ASR model. Different methods and techniques were used in the study to achieve the research objectives and complete the entire research process. The proposed model utilized deep learning algorithms including RNN, LSTM, BiLSTM, and CNN, along with suitable feature extraction techniques such as Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC). The accuracy of the proposed ASR model was evaluated through experimentation, which demonstrated that the BiLSTM model outperformed the other deep learning models with an overall accuracy of 90.95 % Based on the experimental evidence, the proposed model was found to be better suited for ASR for the Hadiyyisa language. © 2023 IEEE.

Wind turbines are widely used across the globe as a primary means of renewable energy by using the power of wind, it converts kinetic energy into electrical energy, contributing to generating electricity. However, turbines are positioned far from control centers, operating in environments that continuously change and have uncontrollable factors and conditions lead to wind turbine failures. The proposed method using an Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm (ISSA) optimizer along with also used a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier helps to detect the faults in turbines. This method uses the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) dataset for wind turbine fault detection, the optimization using ISSA which is improved by Uniformity Diversity Orientation Strategy (UDOS) to optimize model's internal parameters. This helps to learn pattern during training period and helps to classify the normal and fault patterns. Then in the SVM classification process using the parameters this compares the obtained values with the current fitness value to classify patterns. The performance of the ISSA is analyzed by using accuracy, precision, f1-score, and recall. This shows that the proposed method outperforms existing methods such as K Nearest Neighbors (KNN), stacking classifier, and Feature Simplification Random Forest (FS-RF) in terms of accuracy 98.78%, precision 98.97%, recall 98.24%, and f1-score 98.00%. © 2024 IEEE.

Graph Transformers, which incorporate self-attention and positional encoding, have recently emerged as a powerful architecture for various graph learning tasks. Despite their impressive performance, the complex non-convex interactions across layers and the recursive graph structure have made it challenging to establish a theoretical foundation for learning and generalization. This study introduces the first theoretical investigation of a shallow Graph Transformer for semi-supervised node classification, comprising a self-attention layer with relative positional encoding and a two-layer perceptron. Focusing on a graph data model with discriminative nodes that determine node labels and non-discriminative nodes that are class-irrelevant, we characterize the sample complexity required to achieve a desirable generalization error by training with stochastic gradient descent (SGD). This paper provides the quantitative characterization of the sample complexity and number of iterations for convergence dependent on the fraction of discriminative nodes, the dominant patterns, and the initial model errors. Furthermore, we demonstrate that self-attention and positional encoding enhance generalization by making the attention map sparse and promoting the core neighborhood during training, which explains the superior feature representation of Graph Transformers. Our theoretical results are supported by empirical experiments on synthetic and real-world benchmarks. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

Nowadays, the way a user connects with computing devices is being analysed with the goal of extracting useful information for some interesting applications beyond user authentication. It enables the development of next-generation intelligent human-computer interaction, auto-profiling, and soft biometrics. In this paper, a bootstrapped-based homogeneous ensemble model has been proposed without wasting rare samples in each bootstrapped training set to overcome the uneven distribution of classes (common in keystroke dynamics) for predicting users’ traits, fine motor skills, and cognitive deficiency automatically using the user’s daily typing habit. This model is lightweight, faster, and could be implemented in low-configured devices like smartphones. The proposed model has been verified with a more realistic evaluation and several shared and authentic keystroke dynamics (KD) datasets and achieved 93.21% of accuracy in predicting age group, 65.35% in identifying gender, 87.14% for handedness, 77.14% in the case of hand(s) used determination, 91.25% in predicting qualification, 74.44% in recognising typing skill, 58.45% in observing lie, 84.12% in the determination of Parkinson’s disease (PD), and 99.14% in predicting emotional stress (ES). The proposed model might be used for a wide range of more interesting applications, including automatic user profiling in social networking, age-restricted access control to protect kids from Internet threats, age- and gender-specific product recommendations in e-commerce, medical diagnostics at-home environment for better treatment and therapy management, soft biometric traits in improving biometric models, learner’s cognitive deficiency in effective online teaching and learning, cognitive deficiency marker in a competitive examination, unbiased online feedback collection, and online inquiry correctness measurement, to mention a few. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Robust CNN for facial emotion recognition and real-time GUI

computer vision is witnessing a surge of interest in machines accurately recognizing and interpreting human emotions through facial expression analysis. However, variations in image properties such as brightness, contrast, and resolution make it harder for models to predict the underlying emotion accurately. Utilizing a robust architecture of a convolutional neural network (CNN), we designed an efficacious framework for facial emotion recognition that predicts emotions and assigns corresponding probabilities to each fundamental human emotion. Each image is processed with various pre-processing steps before inputting it to the CNN to enhance the visibility and clarity of facial features, enabling the CNN to learn more effectively from the data. As CNNs entail a large amount of data for training, we used a data augmentation technique that helps to enhance the model's generalization capabilities, enabling it to effectively handle previously unseen data. To train the model, we joined the datasets, namely JAFFE and KDEF. We allocated 90% of the data for training, reserving the remaining 10% for testing purposes. The results of the CCN framework demonstrated a peak accuracy of 78.1%, which was achieved with the joint dataset. This accuracy indicated the model's capability to recognize facial emotions with a promising level of performance. Additionally, we developed an application with a graphical user interface for real-time facial emotion classification. This application allows users to classify emotions from still images and live video feeds, making it practical and user-friendly. The real-time application further demonstrates the system's practicality and potential for various real-world applications involving facial emotion analysis. © 2024 the Author(s).

International efforts to avoid dangerous climate change have historically focused on reducing energy-related CO2emissions from countries with either the largest economies（*** EU and the USA）and/or the largest populations（*** and India）.However,in recent years,emissions have surged among a different and much less-examined group of countries,raising concerns that a next generation of high-emitting economies will obviate current mitigation ***,we analyse the trends and drivers of emissions in each of the 59 countries where emissions in 2010-2018 grew faster than the global average（excluding China and India）,project their emissions under a range of longer-term energy scenarios and estimate the costs of decarbonization *** emissions from these 'emerging emitters' reach as much as 7.5 GtCO2/year in the baseline 2.5° scenari—substantially greater than the emissions from these regions in previously published scenarios that would limit warming to 1.5℃ or even 2℃.Such unanticipated emissions would in turn require non-emitting energy deployment from all sectors within these emerging emitters,and faster and deeper reductions in emissions from other countries to meet international climate ***,the annual costs of keeping emissions at the low level are in many cases 0.2%-4.1% of countries' gross domestic production,pointing to potential trade-offs with poverty-reduction goals and/or the need for economic support and low-carbon technology transfer from historically high-emitting *** results thus highlight the critical importance of ramping up mitigation efforts in countries that to this point have been largely ignored.

Cloud computing is extremely popular model among enterprises. It provides more availability of cloud resources when needed with high scalability and extremely cost-effective model. Security is one of the least understood concepts to provide and access for OWASP applications in cloud computing. Many enterprises especially banking clients are risk-averse and have less cloud adoption rate. In this study, security research in the area of cloud security is reviewed and AWS (Amazon Web Service) is the top provider of cloud computing. Since, we have also demonstrated how it works in the security exploration. For evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithms (EMOAs), an external archive can be utilized for saving good solutions found throughout the evolutionary process. Recent studies showed that a solution set selected from an external archive is usually superior to the final population. That is, the incorporation of an external archive improves the performance of EMOAs. However, the computation time for maintaining an external archive is long, especially when the archive size is large. To solve this issue, a simple archiving strategy is to save all solutions generated in the last several generations. In this paper, we examine this archiving strategy for three representative EMOAs on artificial test problems (Minus-DTLZ and WFG) and real-world problems (RE). Our results show that archiving the last several generations clearly improves the performance of EMOAs without severely increasing the computation time. © 2024 IEEE.
