Blockchain technology to build safe, decentralized systems for managing individual health records has become increasingly prevalent. As the number of personal health records (PHRs) increases, concerns about data privacy, security, and interoperability emerge, highlighting the need for standardized data integration with secured record linkage, privacy preservation, and quality control in research and analytical platforms. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Blockchain-based Patient Record Linkage system (BlockPRLS) for Big Data Analytics, leveraging confidentiality, integrity, and availability with a secured shared mechanism of PHRs. Moreover, the proposed solution significantly mitigates data gaps among operational health information systems (HIS) and clinical research infrastructure in low- and mid-income countries; where the international data standardization methods (e.g., LOINC, SONMED CT, OMOP Common Data Model) are not followed. Our extended framework presents a detailed architecture of a blockchain platform connecting with a mobile app- B2MAppH that connects patients, doctors, telehealth, and HIS, potentially able to transfer anonymous health records into the Central Data Repository (CDR) of a big data infrastructure. B2MappH is integrated with CDR, maintaining the privacy of the patient. It has been implemented in a private blockchain environment. Therefore, it provides an efficient solution for storing, linking, and sharing patient data, enabling better care coordination, big data research, and outcomes. Experimental evaluation shows the effectiveness of the system for both personal healthcare and big data analytics support.

Information is one of the critical assets in every organization. Maintaining these assets and ensuring their security is a challenge, since it is a responsibility for every organization member. One of these challenges is employee, faculty, and student lack of security awareness that could affect the organization's assets. Therefore, this research paper investigates and examines the information security policy awareness in Taibah University's committee and their overall understanding of security. A qualitatively method is used to gain in depth data about TU committee's awareness. An online survey was conducted to measure students', faculty, and other employees' awareness of three topics including, Taibah University security policies, information security crimes, and basic security actions. The findings of the survey shown a lack of security awareness and mostly between bachelor's degree students. Therefore, TU institute should improve security education and provide training courses, workshops, and online libraries to raise students' awareness of security. A list of recommendations are proposed to enhance this awareness. This survey will help practitioners understand security awareness challenges and explore new and promising research opportunities in this field. To the best of our knowledge, this paper constitutes the first survey focusing on security policies awareness in TU. © 2021 IEEE.

Extreme events jeopardize power network operations, causing beyond-design failures and massive supply interruptions. Existing market designs fail to internalize and systematically assess the risk of extreme and rare events. Efficiently maintaining the reliability of renewable-dominant power systems during extreme weather events requires co-optimizing system resources, while differentiating between large/rare and small/frequent deviations from forecast conditions. To address this gap in both research and practice, we propose managing the uncertainties associated with extreme weather events through an additional reserve service, termed extreme reserve. The procurement of extreme reserve is co-optimized with energy and regular reserve using a large deviation theory chance-constrained (LDT-CC) model, where LDT offers a mathematical framework to quantify the increased uncertainty during extreme events. To mitigate the high additional costs associated with reserve scheduling under the LDT-CC model, we also propose an LDT model based on weighted chance constraints (LDT-WCC). This model prepares the power system for extreme events at a lower cost, making it a less conservative alternative to the LDTCC model. The proposed market design leads to a competitive equilibrium while ensuring cost recovery. Numerical experiments on an illustrative system and a modified 8-zone ISO New England system highlight the advantages of the proposed market design. © 2024 IEEE.

With the growing technological advancements in the Internet and advanced functionalities in vehicular networks, it becomes crucial to execute tasks quickly and efficiently. However, the limited onboard computational capacity and vehicle mobility make it challenging to accomplish latency-sensitive tasks efficiently. Task offloading provides a promising solution to overcome these challenges. Cloud data centers provide efficient solutions, but returning the results to the vehicles takes longer due to the large physical distance. Leveraging edge servers to execute latency-sensitive tasks provides a fast, interactive response and less transmission cost. However, in a dynamic network, vehicles will be in constant motion with varying speeds, resulting in frequent handoffs from one base station to another. Our proposed work aims to select the optimal nodes to perform binary offloading with minimum cost using the collaborative vehicular network. We use a greedy-based offloading approach to address these challenges and achieve better quality-of-service and quality-of-experience in a dynamic environment to minimize costs, delay reduction ratio, and satisfaction ratio. The proposed work outperforms the baseline by 60.44%, 53.43% in reducing total system cost, delay reduction ratio, and 36% improvement in the satisfaction ratio compared to baseline algorithms.

Recently, the Transformer-based models have achieved leading results in many research areas such as natural language processing and computer vision. However, since Transformer-based models have a huge computational complexities, optimization for Transformer is the focus of current research. the core of Transformer models is the attention module, and in this paper we propose a software and hardware co-designed attention module, which reduces the computational units of the multi-head attention module by balancing the The inference time of the attention module is reduced by balancing the computational units of multiple attention modules. At the same time, we design the corresponding structure on FPGA, which accelerate 14.6x inference time in comparison with the original attention module implementation on GPU. We applied this attention module to multiple visual Transformer models and tested the accuracy difference between the balanced multi-head attention module-based model and the original model on CIFAR-10, and obtained a result of 80.46%, which lower from the original version by 0.18%. © 2022 IEEE.

This study explores Blockchain technology in the global financial industry using trends analysis, bibliometric analysis, and a literature appraisal using Elsevier Scopus data from 2016 to 2023. The Blockchain in Finance (BCF) study produced 185 publications: 53.5% papers, 45.4% conference proceedings, and 1.1% reviews. Analysis of the subject area revealed three important computer science, engineering, and Decision sciences articles. However, source title analysis showed that ACM International Conference Proceeding Series, Sustainability Switzerland, and E3S Web of Conferences publish BCF research most often. According to the stakeholders study, Jon M. Truby and Qatar University (Qatar) are the top BCFin researchers and affiliations with 4% and % publications, respectively. China produces the most research on the topic. Due to active support from funding sources like the Chinese National Natural science Foundation (NNSF), 18 publications have been funded. Co-occurrence of keywords The investigation indicated that BCFin’s top keywords include Blockchain, Finance, and Supply Chain Finance. Three clusters with 4–8 keywords, 132 linkages, and 866 TLS were found via cluster analysis. Keywords classify the clusters as Integrated Business Solutions (Cluster 1), Digital Commerce Infrastructure (Cluster 2), and Decentralized Financial Network (Cluster 3). The findings indicate that BCFin is a dynamic and influential multidisciplinary study field. BCFin has transformed the global financial sector by improving trust, transaction security, and communication. Environmental awareness has recently emerged as one of the most crucial topics. As a result, various groups advocate for these technologies and research ways to promote their usage in various contexts. This study examines the factors influencing the intention and use of green technology among academics. This study integrates Price Value (PV) and Consideration of future consequence (CFC) to Theory Planned Behavior (TPB) as a theoretical basis. Two hundred five valid replies were gathered and processed through statistical analysis. The results of this study partly support the developed hypotheses. Four hypotheses developed from TPB have presented significant relationships. However, PV and CFC were not. The findings indicate that individuals in this study did not consider CFC or PV of green IT products as critical factors in their decision-making process. Findings also suggest that for implementation success, competent parties must consider the campaign to increase individual awareness and provide financial support regarding environmental policy. © 2023 IEEE.

A variety of information with high research value is produced as an educational asset as a result of the use of various emerging technologies in education. Traditional methods of handling educational resources have emerged. Considering the shortcomings of conventional system centralization methods, people are starting to use decentralized blockchain technology for innovation. The research objective of blockchain 3.0 technology is to support the architecture of the educational digital asset management system also suggested in this article, which also uses bitcoin. Apart from performing essential blockchain validation and storage, it transforms the disparate data that students generate across their classroom and extracurricular learning activities into educational digital assets. For several years, traffic congestion has been a major problem in big cities where the number of cars and different means of transportation has been increasing significantly. The problem of congestion is becoming more and more critical, and if not treated smartly this issue will negatively affect drivers by wasting time and fuel gas while waiting for hours in lanes. This paper presents a new and smart way to mitigate this issue in an affordable cost, minimum processing power, and low power consumption. This concept takes into consideration the majority of the cases that may cause congestion and presents a smart and accurate outputs to ease traffic flow leading to the prediction of the peak hours of traffic congestion for smarter control. A model is designed to study the case of a four lanes crossroad with two traffic lights and two LCD monitors. The strategy in reading data is divided into two parts: real data from sensors and pre collected data from google maps to create a kind of a predicted pattern over a certain time interval. The responsiveness of the system is analyzed thoroughly, and the accuracy of all possible cases is carefully considered and evaluated. Each part of the system was tested alone, and the overall system is still in an ongoing testing phase. The results have shown minimum faulty errors and accepted outputs that can lead to safe traffic control decisions. Finally, integrating more IoT devices and sensors between V2V, V2P, V2I with the help of artificial intelligence will definitely optimize this system with higher accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless rechargeable sensor networks (WRSNs), supported by recent advancements in wireless power transfer (WPT) technology, hold significant potential for extending network lifetime. However, traditional approaches often prioritize scheduling algorithms and network optimization, overlooking the security risks associated with the charging process, which exposes the network to potential attacks. This paper addresses this gap by integrating Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Digital Twin technologies for the intelligent detection of Denial of Charging (DoC) attacks in WRSNs. First, it leverages the flexibility and intelligent control of SDN, in combination with Digital Twin, to enhance real-time detection and mitigation of DoC attacks. Second, it employs four key metrics to detect such attacks including charging request patterns, energy consumption, behavioral and reputation scores, and charging behavior and efficiency. The numerical results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed protocol in terms of energy usage efficiency, survival rate, detection rate, and travel distance. © 2025, CC BY.
