Towards improving detection performance for malware with a correntropy-based deep learning method

With the rapid development of Internet of Things(IoT)technologies,the detection and analysis of malware have become a matter of concern in the industrial application of Cyber-Physical system(CPS)that provides various services using the IoT ***,many advanced machine learning methods such as deep learning are popular in the research of malware detection and analysis,and some achievements have been made so ***,there are also some *** example,considering the noise and outliers in the existing datasets of malware,some methods are not robust ***,the accuracy of malware classification still needs to be *** at this issue,we propose a novel method that combines the correntropy and the deep learning *** our proposed method for malware detection and analysis,given the success of the mixture correntropy as an effective similarity measure in addressing complex datasets with noise,it is therefore incorporated into a popular deep learning model,i.e.,Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),to reconstruct its loss function,with the purpose of further detecting the features of *** present the detailed design process of our ***,the proposed method is tested both on a real-world malware dataset and a popular benchmark dataset to verify its learning performance.

Streaming graph processing needs to timely evaluate continuous queries. Prior systems suffer from massive redundant computations due to the irregular order of processing vertices influenced by updates. To address this issue, we propose ACGraph, a novel streaming graph processing approach for monotonic graph algorithms. It maintains dependence trees during runtime, and makes affected vertices processed in a top-to-bottom order in the hierarchy of the dependence trees, thus normalizing the state propagation order and coalescing of multiple propagation to the same vertices. Experimental results show that ACGraph reduces the number of updates by 50% on average, and achieves the speedup of 1.75~7.43× over state-of-the-art systems.

The development of autonomous systems in military drone operations signifies a paradigm shift in modern warfare strategies, and modern warfare emphasizes the crucial role of military drones to the extent that it is called drone war. Despite the importance of these military drones, the efficiency of such operations hinges on the swarm military drones’ ability to operate cooperatively in complex battlefield environments where the target changes dynamically. The proposed algorithm for robust and reliable military drones needs to consider a total of three objectives, i.e., (i) cooperative swarm flight maintenance, (ii) target bombing zone maximization, and (iii) energy efficiency optimization. For this objective, multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MARL) is utilized for the cooperation of military drones to achieve these objectives optimally. Lastly, this paper considers ‘Shahed-136’ which is one of well-known military drones for realistic battlefield evaluation. Additionally, the military drones employing the proposed algorithm are evaluated in a large-scale battlefield environment spanning 4×104 km3. This paper assesses the efficacy of the proposed approach through simulations that evaluate the swarm flight, success rate of bombing, and energy efficiency of drones, particularly under dynamic target conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Otitis media represents inflammation or infection of the middle ear, often stemming from colds, sore throats, or respiratory infections. To address diagnostic challenges, this study introduces the EARnet-AR method, a novel advanced approach for automatically classifying otoscope tympanic membrane images. We employed 1100 otoscopic augmented images were utilized to conduct this research. To enhance the clarity and accuracy of otoscopic images, our research incorporated median filtering, an effective noise reduction technique, and gamma correction to adjust the image's luminance, ensuring a more consistent visual representation. In our initial evaluations, we tested the capabilities of five renowned pre-trained models using a comprehensive set of evaluation metrics, including accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, f1-score, FPR, and FNR. The confusion matrices also detailed the model's capabilities in classifying each specific ear condition. Moreover, our proposed novel model EARnet-AR, enriched with Attention and RNN features, surpasses the other models, achieving training, testing and validation accuracies of 97.5%, 96.0%, and 96.5%, respectively. With such precise diagnostic tools, medical professionals can potentially achieve more timely and accurate treatments, enhancing patient care and outcomes in otitis media cases.

The rapid advancement of new technologies has significantly impacted the solar energy industry. This study explores how innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced materials affect the performance and adoption of solar panels. Using data from global solar panel manufacturers and adoption rates from 2010 to 2023, we aim to show how these technologies improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive widespread adoption. Our findings indicate that integrating AI and IoT into solar panel systems significantly boosts efficiency by optimizing energy output and predictive maintenance. Advanced materials, especially in photovoltaic cells, have greatly improved energy conversion rates. These advancements lower production and maintenance costs and enhance the reliability and lifespan of solar panels, making them more attractive to consumers and investors. Regions with supportive regulations and financial incentives see higher adoption rates and better performance improvements. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers, highlighting the importance of technological innovation in achieving sustainable energy goals. By addressing key factors that influence solar panel performance and adoption, this study contributes to the broader discussion on renewable energy development and the transition to a low carbon economy. Future research should focus on long-term studies to assess the lasting impacts of these technologies on the solar energy market.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) is an origination of Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET), where road vehicles will distribute messages and provide safety alerts to notice hazardous circumstances to the drivers. One of its greatest challenges is ensuring Quality of Service (QoS) owing to channel sharing, high traffic and topology changes in VANETs. These challenges cause of degradation of network performance. Congestion control should be properly considered to improve the network performance and transmission message over VANETs. However, there seem significant limitations to most of the other current congestion control mechanisms. In this paper, an enhanced congestion control model based on prioritization and scheduling-based strategy is proposed. This strategy assigns priorities of the safety messages and non-safety messages based of the message type and network condition. Further, safety message can be classified into event-driven messages and beacon messages. At that point, all messages transmit into the appropriate queue based on their priority and schedule all messages in each queue. However, when new message enqueue, reschedule in each queue may cause additional unwanted delay to be processed cause of inefficient scheduling technique. Thus, an improved dynamic scheduling algorithm also proposed to schedule the messages in this circumstance. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Container based microservices have been widely applied to promote the cloud elasticity. The mainstream Docker containers are structured in layers, which are organized in stack with bottom-up dependency. To start a microservice, the required layers are pulled from a remote registry and stored on its host server, following the layer dependency order. This incurs long microservice startup time and hinders the performance efficiency. In this paper, we discover that, for the first time, the layer pulling order can be adjusted to accelerate the microservice startup. Specifically, we address the problem on microservice layer pulling orchestration for startup time minimization and prove it as NP-hard. We propose a Longest-chain based Out-of-order layer Pulling Orchestration (LOPO) strategy with low computational complexity and guaranteed approximation ratio. Through extensive real-world trace driven experiments, we verify the efficiency of our LOPO and demonstrate that it reduces the microservice startup time by 22.71% on average in comparison with state-of-the-art solutions.

Tailoring energy barriers of Bloch-point-mediated transitions between topological spin textures

Magnetic skyrmions are nanoscale spin textures whose thermal stability originates from the nontrivial topology in nature. Recently, a plethora of topological spin textures have been theoretically predicted or experimentally observed, enriching the diversity of the skyrmionic family. In this work, we theoretically demonstrate the stabilities of various topological spin textures against homochiral states in chiral magnets, including chiral bobbers, dipole strings, and skyrmion tubes. They can be effectively classified by the associated topological Hall signals. Multiple transition paths are found among these textures, mediated by Bloch-point singularities, and the topological protection property here can be manifested by a finite energy barrier with the saddle point corresponding to the Bloch-point creation/destruction. By carefully modulating the local property of a surface, such as interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction induced by breaking the structural symmetry, the energy landscape of a magnetic system can be tailored decisively. Significantly, the proposed scenario also enables the manipulation of stabilities and transition barriers of these textures, even accompanied by the discovery of ground-state chiral bobbers. This study may raise great expectations on the coexistence of topological spin textures as spintronics-based information carriers for future applications.
