This paper presents a practical approach to cache eviction algorithm design, called Mobius, that optimizes the concurrent throughput of caches and reduces cache operation latency by utilizing lock-free data structures, while maintaining high cache hit ratios. Mobius includes two key designs. First, Mobius employs two lock-free FIFO queues to manage cache items, ensuring that all cache operations are executed efficiently in concurrency. Second, Mobius integrates a consecutive detection mechanism that merges multiple modifications during eviction into a single operation, thereby reducing data races. The implementation of Mobius in CacheLib and RocksDB highlights its high concurrency in both synthetic and real-world workloads.

Cross-modal image-text retrieval is a crucial task in the field of vision and language, aimed at retrieving the relevant samples from one modality as per the given user expressed in another modality. While most methods developed for this task have focused on English, recent advances expanded the scope of this task to the Multi-lingual domain. However, these methods face challenges due to the limited availability of annotated data in non-English languages. In this work, we propose a novel method that leverages an English pre-training model as a teacher to improve Multi-lingual image-text retrieval performance. Our method trains a student model that produces better Multi-lingual image-text similarity scores by learning from the English image-text similarity scores of the trained teacher. We introduce the contrastive loss to align the two different representations of the image and text, and the Contrastive Similarity Distillation loss to align the Multi-lingual image-text distribution of the student with that of the English teacher. We evaluate our method on two popular datasets, i.e., MS-COCO and Flickr-30K, and achieve state-of-the-art performance. Our approach shows significant improvement over existing methods and has potential for practical applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Federated learning (FL) is an emerging paradigm of distributed machine learning. However, when applied to wireless network scenarios, FL usually suffers from high communication cost because clients need to transmit their updated gradients to a server in every training round. Although many gradient compression techniques like sparsification and quantization are proposed, they compress clients' gradients independently, without considering the correlations among gradients. In this paper, we propose SVDFed, a collaborative gradient compression framework for FL. SVDFed utilizes Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) to find a few basis vectors, whose linear combination can well represent clients' gradients at a certain round. Due to the correlations among gradients, these basis vectors can still well approximate new gradients in many subsequent rounds. With the help of basis vectors, clients only need to upload the coefficients of the linear combination to the server, which greatly reduces communication cost. In addition, SVDFed leverages the classical PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) control to determine the proper time to update basis vectors to maintain their representation ability. Through experiments, we demonstrate that SVDFed outperforms existing gradient compression methods in FL. For example, compared to a popular gradient quantization method QSGD, SVDFed can reduce the communication overhead by 66 % and pending time by 99 %. © 2023 IEEE.

Effectively reconstructing 3D hyperspectral images (HSIs) from 2D measurements presents a significant challenge in Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) systems. While recent transformers exhibit potential in HSI reconstruction, they often suffer from inadequate exploration of multi-scale spatial-spectral self-similarity, leading to mean effects and information loss. Additionally, these methods struggle with insufficient modeling of the degradation inherent in the compressive imaging process. To address these issues, we propose a novel Mask-guided Multi-scale Spatial-Spectral Transformer (MMSST). Specifically, we introduce a Degradation Aware Mask Attention (DAMA) module to incorporate degradation information of the compressive imaging process. Furthermore, MMSST leverages Local-Regional SpAtial attention (LRSA) and Global-Regional SpEctral attention (GRSE) to effectively exploit multi-scale self-similarity across spatial and spectral dimensions. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our MMSST.

Location privacy protection in vehicular networks has been a primary priority to ensure because of its direct impact on human physical safety. Leakage and violation of road users' location privacy may be perilous beyond simple curiosity as it may scale to cyberstalking and tracking. This may lead to road users being subjected to mental and physical distress, from blackmailing to targeted advertising, and trap planning. The results of tracking may be fatal to road users. Over the past 17 years, researchers have been actively investigating location privacy protection mechanisms for vehicular networks. Numerous research results have been published that examined the use of pseudonym change strategies, which have been considered as the most appropriate solution that maintains the tradeoff between ease of application, good protection level, and the correct functionality of the network. We evaluate, classify, and analyze pseudonym change strategies aimed at location privacy preserving solutions for vehicular networks and discuss their performance. We also review the simulation tools used for evaluating pseudonym change techniques used in location privacy preserving solutions for the vehicular environment. The results of this survey will help researchers in this field to develop more robust, efficient, and cost-effective location privacy protection schemes in the future. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Several millions of people suffer from Parkinson’s disease ***’s affects about 1%of people over 60 and its symptoms increase with *** voice may be affected and patients experience abnormalities in speech that might not be noticed by listeners,but which could be analyzed using recorded speech *** the huge advancements of technology,the medical data has increased dramatically,and therefore,there is a need to apply data mining and machine learning methods to extract new knowledge from this *** classification methods were used to analyze medical data sets and diagnostic problems,such as Parkinson’s Disease(PD).In addition,to improve the performance of classification,feature selection methods have been extensively used in many *** paper aims to propose a comprehensive approach to enhance the prediction of PD using several machine learning methods with different feature selection methods such as filter-based and *** dataset includes 240 recodes with 46 acoustic features extracted from3 voice recording replications for 80 *** experimental results showed improvements when wrapper-based features selection method was used with K-NN classifier with accuracy of 88.33%.The best obtained results were compared with other studies and it was found that this study provides comparable and superior results.

In this paper, a novel dual-band MIMO monopole antenna for 5G applications is presented. The proposed MIMO antenna is made up of two rings that are T-shaped, generating two distinguished bands: the N77 band and the 6 GHz 5G band. A Tshaped ground branch with a bottom slit is integrated into the ground plane to mitigate the mutual coupling at lower and higher operating bands by redistributing the current, thus improving the isolation enhancement. A reversed T-shaped grounded parasitic element with extra grounded parasitic elements on the partial ground is inserted on top of the substrate, between the MIMO elements. The grounded process is introduced by inserting two metallic vias in each branch of the parasitic element. These parasitic elements effectively reduce the coupling between the MIMO antennas by restricting the current to the respective antenna, thus improving the isolation at the higher band. To verify the design principle of the suggested MIMO antenna, this latter is manufactured and tested. It exhibits excellent impedance matching and high isolation characteristics, and a compact footprint of 29 mm × 42.5 mm. Thus, it is attractive for 5G MIMO systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Programmable logic controllers(PLCs)play a critical role in many industrial control systems,yet face increasingly serious cyber *** this paper,we propose a novel PLC-compatible software-based defense mechanism,called Heterogeneous Redundant Proactive Defense Framework(HRPDF).We propose a heterogeneous PLC architecture in HRPDF,including multiple heterogeneous,equivalent,and synchronous runtimes,which can thwart multiple types of attacks against PLC without the need of external *** ensure the availability of PLC,we also design an inter-process communication algorithm that minimizes the overhead of *** implement a prototype system of HRPDF and test it in a real-world PLC and an OpenPLC-based device,*** results show that HRPDF can defend against multiple types of attacks with 10.22%additional CPU and 5.56%additional memory overhead,and about 0.6 ms additional time overhead.
