Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) is part of the transaction data set, which represents the digital cryptocurrency asset in transaction-based blockchain systems. The data management capability, storage method and occupied space of UTXOs will greatly affect the running efficiency and the verification performance of blockchain systems. Especially, with the popularity of blockchain technology, the relevant UTXO data sets have been growing, and all the stored data can no longer be almost completely stored in memory. How should the UTXO transaction data be stored and managed at this time, it is an urgent issue to be solved in bitcoin-like blockchain systems. This paper provides a blockchain transaction data management optimization mechanism based on multi-partitioning. First, we analyze the influencing factors of transactions through real blockchain data. The proposed method can evaluate the time interval and transaction frequency factors, and use the received information to realize the efficient transaction data storage. In our design, UTXOs with lower likelihood to be used in new transactions will be stored in the disk, and the other UTXOs with higher likelihood to be used in new generated transactions should be stored in the cache. This approach aims to minimize memory consumption for the transaction data sets, accelerate UTXO access time during block verification, and ultimately decrease the overall time required for verification, leading to efficient UTXO transaction data management. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed optimization mechanism is verified through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, and the UXTO access time has been reduced compared with state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of the distributed network and communication, the Internet of Things (IoT) systems have been applied to all walks of life. Blockchain technology is one of the most popular research fields recently, which can provide a reliable storage solution and solve information security issues for IoT systems. Transaction information is the most critical fundamental data in the blockchain systems, which needs to be verified to avoid being tempered with by malicious nodes in the process of transmission. With the exponential growth of the number of IoT devices, the limitations of the current storage structure put too much pressure on the system nodes. How to improve verification efficiency has become a key challenge. To alleviate this problem, this paper proposes a novel high-performance verification mechanism for data security protection in blockchain-based IoT systems. We design a new storage structure based on Huffman trunk tree (HTT), and conduct the quantitative analysis of transaction weights. Transactions are stored in full-featured devices in the form of Huffman Merkle tree (HMT), and only the content of HTT is saved in lightweight devices. Finally, the performance superiority of our mechanism is proved through theoretical analysis and experimental evaluation. In blockchain-based IoT systems, our mechanism significantly reduces the data transmission cost and computation overhead, effectively improving the efficiency of data verification. © 2023 IEEE.

As an indispensable key network service in blockchain systems, digital wallet service is crucial for promoting the widespread application of blockchain technology and the development of the digital economy. However, with the increasing popularity of blockchain technology, the scale of the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) dataset continues to increase. A significant number of low-value UTXOs occupied the main dataset space, leading to blockchain dataset expansion. This has affected the performance of digital wallet service and the overall system performance. To address this issue, this paper proposes a Space-Efficient Digital Wallet (SEDW) service in blockchain systems. This strategy employs a Multidimensional Space Simulated Annealing (MSA) algorithm to obtain transaction input UTXOs. MSA can be combined with the UTXO dynamic adjustment mechanism, achieving the rapid consumption of low-value UTXOs without increasing the transaction fees. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed SEDW strategy effectively optimized the selection of UTXOs in blockchain systems. It alleviated the expansion issue of the UTXO dataset, and controlled the generation of transaction fees, thereby achieving performance enhancement of digital wallet service. © 2023 IEEE.

Ensuring safety and security is paramount in today’s complex environment, and the effective detection of contraband items plays a pivotal role in achieving this objective. Contraband items, ranging from illegal substances to unauthorized goods, pose a threat to public safety, security, and the overall well-being of smart city inhabitants. Such items are currently detected by human operator reviewing the images from X-ray baggage scanners. However, manual detection of contraband items is inherently challenging and time-consuming resulting in significant delays at crowded places such as airports, train-stations, shopping malls etc. Moreover, there is a significant risk of overlooking certain items that could pose potential harm. To address these challenges, there is a growing demand for intelligent systems for contraband items detection that can efficiently and accurately detect items whilst minimizing false negatives. Automated deep learning solutions offer a sophisticated and technologically advanced approach to enhance the accuracy and speed of the detection process. In our pursuit to address this challenge comprehensively, we have obtained an X-ray Imaging Dataset specifically curated for this purpose. The dataset includes five types of objects including guns, knives, pliers, scissors, and wrenches that are typically banned to carry along. In this paper, we have proposed a deep learning-based approach to efficiently and accurately detect contraband items from X-ray images. The proposed approach is based on YOLO architectures that has been shown to perform better for object detection in variety of domains both in terms of accuracy and real-time performance. We have evaluated different versions of YOLO to select the version that works best for contraband item detection from X-ray images. E-Voting systems play a vital role in various communities, aiming to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and citizen engagement in elections. However, as technology advances, ensuring the security and reliability of e-voting systems becomes profound. While researchers have explored the integration of blockchain technology to improve e-voting systems, there still are technical challenges, particularly regarding voters' privacy, ballots' confidentiality, and system performance. To address these challenges, we propose SvaVoting, an innovative blockchain-based e-voting scheme. SvaVoting utilizes the Borda counting method and the identity-based ring signature based on symmetric primitives to anonymously verify the validity of the voter's identity and ballot format. In addition, we introduce secret sharing and a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) to conduct the final counting while preserving the privacy of the ballots. All users in the system can verify the results of CSP calculations, thereby meeting security goals such as correctness, unforgeability, anonymity and verifiability. The identity-based ring signature in our scheme provides 128-bit security, and even it can work in a quantum computing environment. Experimental results demonstrate that our solution significantly enhances the security and performance of e-voting systems, offering a practical path forward for future e-voting systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Early detection and assessment of polyps play a crucial role in the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC). Polyp segmentation provides an effective solution to assist clinicians in accurately locating and segmenting polyp regions. In the past, people often relied on manually extracted lower-level features such as color, texture, and shape, which often had problems capturing global context and lacked robustness to complex scenarios. With the advent of deep learning, more and more medical image segmentation algorithms based on deep learning networks have emerged, making significant progress in the field. This paper provides a comprehensive review of polyp segmentation algorithms. We first review some traditional algorithms based on manually extracted features and deep segmentation algorithms, and then describe benchmark datasets related to the topic. Specifically, we carry out a comprehensive evaluation of recent deep learning models and results based on polyp size, taking into account the focus of research topics and differences in network structures. Finally, we discuss the challenges of polyp segmentation and future trends in the field. © The Author(s) 2025.

Generating photo-realistic images from a text description is a challenging problem in computer *** works have shown promising performance to generate synthetic images conditional on text by Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs).In this paper,we focus on the category-consistent and relativistic diverse constraints to optimize the diversity of synthetic *** on those constraints,a category-consistent and relativistic diverse conditional GAN(CRD-CGAN)is proposed to synthesize K photo-realistic images *** use the attention loss and diversity loss to improve the sensitivity of the GAN to word attention and ***,we employ the relativistic conditional loss to estimate the probability of relatively real or fake for synthetic images,which can improve the performance of basic conditional ***,we introduce a category-consistent loss to alleviate the over-category issues between K synthetic *** evaluate our approach using the Caltech-UCSD Birds-200-2011,Oxford 102 flower and MS COCO 2014 datasets,and the extensive experiments demonstrate superiority of the proposed method in comparison with state-of-the-art methods in terms of photorealistic and diversity of the generated synthetic images.

Towards imbalanced motion:part-decoupling network for video portrait segmentation

Video portrait segmentation(VPS), aiming at segmenting prominent foreground portraits from video frames, has received much attention in recent years. However, the simplicity of existing VPS datasets leads to a limitation on extensive research of the task. In this work, we propose a new intricate large-scale multi-scene video portrait segmentation dataset MVPS consisting of 101 video clips in 7 scenario categories,in which 10843 sampled frames are finely annotated at the pixel level. The dataset has diverse scenes and complicated background environments, which is the most complex dataset in VPS to our best *** the observation of a large number of videos with portraits during dataset construction, we find that due to the joint structure of the human body, the motion of portraits is part-associated, which leads to the different parts being relatively independent in motion. That is, the motion of different parts of the portraits is imbalanced. Towards this imbalance, an intuitive and reasonable idea is that different motion states in portraits can be better exploited by decoupling the portraits into parts. To achieve this, we propose a part-decoupling network(PDNet) for VPS. Specifically, an inter-frame part-discriminated attention(IPDA)module is proposed which unsupervisedly segments portrait into parts and utilizes different attentiveness on discriminative features specified to each different part. In this way, appropriate attention can be imposed on portrait parts with imbalanced motion to extract part-discriminated correlations, so that the portraits can be segmented more accurately. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves leading performance with the comparison to state-of-the-art methods.

A low-fabrication-temperature, high-gain chip-scale waveguide amplifier

The increasing prevalence of integrated on-chip optoelectronic devices has identified serious issues regarding inter-device transmission and coupling losses, highlighting an urgent need for on-chip waveguide amplifiers to compensate for these losses. Compared with other Er-based optical materials, erbium silicate is ideally suited to high-efficiency on-chip amplifiers and lasers because of its extremely high Er3+concentration(1022cm-3). Nevertheless, erbium silicate must be annealed above 1000℃ to crystallize and activate the Er3+, which damages other on-chip optoelectronic components and is not conducive to device ***, we report a low-fabrication-temperature, high-luminescence-efficiency gain material by adding Bi2O3to an erbium-ytterbium silicate mixed film. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed film crystallizes at 600℃ while the activation of Er3+is also achieved, which is the lowest activation temperature of on-chip waveguide amplifier to our knowledge. This material forms the basis for a new chip-scale waveguide amplifier design, with a theoretical multi-energy-level model of Bi-Er-Yb in the mixed thin films used to analyze its signal enhancement properties. We achieve a peak on-chip gain of 23 dB in a 3.3-mm-long waveguide under the pump and signal powers of 300 mW and 1 μW, respectively. These results highlight the potential of the proposed material for realizing on-chip amplifiers and lasers for large-scale nanophotonic integrated circuits.

Multi-Task Learning (MTL) for Vision Transformer aims at enhancing the model capability by tackling multiple tasks simultaneously. Most recent works have predominantly focused on designing Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) structures and integrating Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) to efficiently perform multi-task learning. However, their rigid combination hampers both the optimization of MoE and the effectiveness of reparameterization of LoRA, leading to sub-optimal performance and low inference speed. In this work, we propose a novel approach dubbed Efficient Multi-Task Learning (EMTAL) by transforming a pre-trained Vision Transformer into an efficient multi-task learner during training, and reparameterizing the learned structure for efficient inference. Specifically, we firstly develop the MoEfied LoRA structure, which decomposes the pre-trained Transformer into a low-rank MoE structure and employ LoRA to fine-tune the parameters. Subsequently, we take into account the intrinsic asynchronous nature of multi-task learning and devise a learning Quality Retaining (QR) optimization mechanism, by leveraging the historical high-quality class logits to prevent a well-trained task from performance degradation. Finally, we design a router fading strategy to integrate the learned parameters into the original Transformer, archiving efficient inference. Extensive experiments on public benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of our method, compared to the state-of-the-art multi-task learning approaches.
