Uncovering the degradation mechanism induced by ion-diffusion kinetics in large-format lithium-ion pouch cells

Battery electrochemistry in an actual cell is a complicated behavior influenced by the current density,uniformity,and ion-diffusion distance,*** anisotropism of the lithiation/delithiation degree is usually inevitable,and even worse,due to a trend of big-size cell design,typically such as 4680 and blade cells,which accelerated a battery failure during repeat lithiation and delithiation of *** by that,two big-size pouch cells with big sizes,herein,are selected to reveal the ion-diffusion dependency of the cathodes at different ***,we find that the LiCoO_(2) pouch cell exhibits ~5 A h loss after 120 charge-discharge cycles,but a 15 A h loss is verified in a LiNixMnyCO_(1-x)-yO_(2)(NCM) ***-based imaging analysis indicates that higher ion-diffusion rates in the LiCoO_(2)than that in the LiNixMnyCO_(1-x)-yO_(2)is the determined factor for the anisotropic cathode fading,which is responsible for a severe mechanical issue of particle damage,such as cracks and even pulverization,in the cathode ***,we verify the different locations at the near-tab and bottom of the electrode make it worse due to the ion-diffusion kinetics and temperature,inducing a spatially uneven electrochemistry in the big-size pouch *** findings give an in-depth insight into pouch cell failure and make a guideline for high-energy cell design and development.

The exoskeleton is employed to assist humans in various domains including military missions,rehabilitation,industrial operation,and activities of daily living(ADLs).Walking is a fundamental ADL,and exoskeletons are capable of reducing the activation and metabolism of lower extremity muscles through active assistance during *** improve the performance of active assistance strategy,this article proposes a framework using an active hip ***,it correlates to an already established Bayesian-based human gait recognition algorithm,with a particular focus on linear and circular walking within industrial and ADL *** theorizing this strategy for exoskeletons,this study further reveals,in part,the activation characteristics of human hip muscles for the instruction and regulation of active assistance duration and onset *** proposed active assistance strategy provides new insights for enhancing the performance of assistive robots and facilitating human robot interaction within the context of ADLs.

Unraveling the role of NiSnPH@OOH/CC perovskite hydroxide for efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol to formate

The sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key tailback for hydrogen production from the water *** OER with thermodynamically auspicious methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)can significantly boost the H_(2) and value-added products ***,it is currently challenging to achieve a synergistic manipulation of product selectivity and performance for MOR ***,we report NiSnPH@OOH/CC(CC=carbon cloth)perovskite hydroxide nanosphere as an efficient MOR electrocatalyst with high activity,stability,and selectivity towards methanol oxidation to formate.A surface amorphous layer of defect rich NiOOH was generated in operando by selective Sn leaching with stable perovskite hydroxide bulk structure,which mitigates the oxidative power and optimizes the local coordination environment of the active NiOOH *** situ Raman combined with electrochemical studies further confirm the key active species,NiOOH,generated in operando enhance the MOR and blocking the over oxidation of methanol to CO_(2).As a result,NiSnPH@OOH/CC effectively masks the OER and attains>99%selectivity with 100%Faradic efficiency for *** results of this study show the advances of NiSnPH@OOH/CC as an efficient electrocatalyst for MOR and also suggest its potential applications for various small organic molecules oxidation.

High-performance bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts that simultaneously boost the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)need to be developed for advanced rechargeable Znair battery *** this work,a zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)-phase conversion associated with a subsequent thermal fixing strategy was developed to fabricate bimetallic CoFe single atoms/clusters embedded in N-doped carbon(denoted as CoFe-N-C)nanorods,which can serve as efficient bifunctional ORR/OER *** observation and X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis confirm the co-existence of highly active Co/Fe-N_(x) dual sites and CoFe alloy nanoclusters.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results prove that implanting secondary Fe atoms into Co-N-C matrix nanorods can induce electronic redistribution of atomic Co/Fe active sites and generate synergistic effects,which would optimize the adsorption energy of the reaction intermediates and thus enhance the bifunctional ORR/OER *** bimetallic CoFe-N-C nanorods exhibit significantly enhanced bifunctional ORR/OER activity and stability than the monometallic Co/Fe-N-C nanorods in alkaline electrolytes in terms of a very positive half-wave potential of 0.90 V(*** hydrogen electrode(RHE))for ORR,and an overpotential of 440 mV to reach current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2)for OER,yielding a small overpotential gap of 0.77 ***,the rechargeable Zn-air batteries using bimetallic CoFe-N-C nanorods as air-cathode catalyst demonstrates peak power density of200.7 mW·cm^(-2)and robust cycling stability of up to200 h,corresponding to 1200 discharge-charge cycles.

Thermoelectric modules fabricated by traditional welding fall short of achieving optimal conversion efficiencies, primarily due to performance degradation of materials at high temperatures, severe elemental diffusion, and residual thermal stress at the interface. Transient liquid phase bonding enables the realization of joints with high-melting-point compounds at low bonding temperatures, providing a promising solution for achieving "low-temperature bonding and high-temperature service." Owing to the low eutectic point of the solder and high melting points of compounds, we optimize the design of a germanium-telluride-based module at 533 K, which is successfully applied at the hot-side temperature of 773 K. Attributed to high-performance materials and reliable joints, the module realizes a high conversion efficiency of ∼15.1% and remains stable throughout 150 h of service. By adopting the same approach, the low- (Bi2Te3) and high-temperature (half-Heusler) modules are assembled. We provide a promising and general route for the assembly of full-temperature-range thermoelectric devices.

Facial beauty analysis is an important topic in human *** may be used as a guidance for face beautification applications such as cosmetic *** neural networks(DNNs)have recently been adopted for facial beauty analysis and have achieved remarkable ***,most existing DNN-based models regard facial beauty analysis as a normal classification *** ignore important prior knowledge in traditional machine learning models which illustrate the significant contribution of the geometric features in facial beauty *** be specific,landmarks of the whole face and facial organs are introduced to extract geometric features to make the *** by this,we introduce a novel dual-branch network for facial beauty analysis:one branch takes the Swin Transformer as the backbone to model the full face and global patterns,and another branch focuses on the masked facial organs with the residual network to model the local patterns of certain facial ***,the designed multi-scale feature fusion module can further facilitate our network to learn complementary semantic information between the two *** model optimisation,we propose a hybrid loss function,where especially geometric regulation is introduced by regressing the facial landmarks and it can force the extracted features to convey facial geometric *** performed on the SCUT-FBP5500 dataset and the SCUT-FBP dataset demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks models,which proves the effectiveness of the proposed geometric regularisation and dual-branch structure with the hybrid *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first study to introduce a Vision Transformer into the facial beauty analysis task.

This study introduces a data-driven approach for state and output feedback control addressing the constrained output regulation problem in unknown linear discrete-time systems. Our method ensures effective tracking performance while satisfying the state and input constraints, even when system matrices are not available. We first establish a sufficient condition necessary for the existence of a solution pair to the regulator equation and propose a data-based approach to obtain the feedforward and feedback control gains for state feedback control using linear programming. Furthermore, we design a refined Luenberger observer to accurately estimate the system state, while keeping the estimation error within a predefined set. By combining output regulation theory, we develop an output feedback control strategy. The stability of the closed-loop system is rigorously proved to be asymptotically stable by further leveraging the concept of λ-contractive sets.

Microservices are a new approach to software architecture design that enables complex monolithic applications to be constructed as a set of independent and loosely coupled chunks of services. A critical step in migrating monolithic architectures to microservices-based systems is the identification of the microservices contained in the target application. At this stage, most monolithic applications are highly cohesive and tightly coupled, which makes microservice decomposition difficult. Traditional microservice identification methods rely heavily on a priori knowledge or the intuitive experience of designers. Different identification methods require different data sources as a basis for extracting microservices, making it difficult to develop a uniform specification. This paper proposes a method to automatically identify microservices from a single system through the study of RESTful APIs, by introducing API topic semantic information similarity and response message information similarity as the criteria for microservice classification. The system consists of three parts: (1) Bert-whitening (Su et al., Whitening sentence representations for better semantics and faster retrieval, 2021) and Jaccard’s algorithm (Bennett et al., Proceedings of KDD cup and workshop, San Jose, CA, 2007) were used to calculate the overall similarity of the API, including the candidate topic similarity and the response message similarity. (2) constructing an API similarity graph with APIs as nodes and the overall similarity as the weight. (3) Spectral clustering algorithm is used to calculate scores and identify candidate microservices based on contour coefficients. A comparison with existing microservice classification methods proves the superiority of the method through experiments on six microservice open source projects and the results of the impact of hyperparameters on the quality of the experiments. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Study on the influence of temperature on the mechanical properties across multiple scales has been a focus on the research of Hastelloy-X(HX)alloys for the application in high-temperature structure *** this work,Molecular Dynamics(MD)and Crystal Plasticity(CP)are put together to solve it from atomic scale to mesoscopic *** research indicates that the deformation of HX alloy occurs in two stages at temperature below 300 K:initially,as stacking fault deforms,stacking fault can trans-form into twinning with increasing *** the temperature exceeds 300 K,deformation primarily forms a stacking *** twinning deformation path transforms from intrinsic stacking fault to extrin-sic stacking fault and then to twinning.A mesoscopic-scale CP model was developed using atomic-scale deformation mechanisms to bridge the gap between deformation mechanisms and experimental *** CP results indicate a functional relationship between the strength of HX alloy and *** relationship appears insensitive to crystal texture and grain *** grain morphology and texture into the model significantly impacts the strength response of calculating HX *** the ten-sile deformation of HX alloy at 300 and 1173 K,the atomic scale deformation results characterized by transmission electron microscopy are aligned with the MD simulation *** relationship between strength and temperature predicted by CP results has also been validated.A thorough investigation into the deformation behavior of HX alloys across different scales,employing MD and CP models,introduces a novel approach for predicting the mechanical properties of superalloys.
