Sensing and retrieving data from ocean to land are challenging and expensive tasks, while the Internet of Sea (IoS) concept can help to monitor ocean environment in a low-cost way. In this paper, an Electrically Small (ES) dual-band monopole antenna is proposed for the IoS application. Dual-band operation (GSM-900, LoRa, and BLE bands) and vertical polarization are maintained in a very compact size. The proposed antenna operates as a folded monopole antenna at 900MHz, and as a simple monopole antenna at 2.4 GHz, by combining the top-loaded folded monopole antenna and the 2-layer monopole feeding structure. The proposed antenna has ka of 0.45 at the LB, with a decent polarization purity and radiation efficiency of 54%. The proposed antenna is designed with a low-cost additive manufacturing material system. © 2021 IEEE.

Rhinosinusitis Mucus is mucus produced by mucus glands found in the nose in the paranasal sinus area which indicates inflammation. Segmentation of rhinosinusitis mucus is very difficult to do because of the many characteristics of different objects in the image of the paranasal Sinus CT-Scan in separating the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. The purpose of this study was to accurately identify and measure the mucus area of rhinosinusitis from CT-scan images of rhinosinusitis patients. The test data used in this study is secondary data from CT-Scan of paranasal sinus sagittal view in radiology RSUP M. Djamil Padang, Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia, using the Philips Ingenuity CT CT-Scan model type MRC880 numbered Tube series 163889. The segmentation process is carried out to obtain the optimal multi threshold value from each slice of the test image using the Improved Adaptive Multi Threshold (IAMT) segmentation method which produces a binary image to separate the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. Furthermore, the results of IAMT are applied to the identification and extraction model automatically to obtain the area of the rhinosinusitis mucus object. The extraction results were used for 2D to 3D image reconstruction in calculating the volume of rhinosinusitis mucus objects. The test results showed that the smallest area of rhinosinusitis mucus was 0.516 cm 2 and the largest was 1.807 cm 2 , and the average volume was 0.95 cm 3 with Accuracy is 96,5%. The identified areas and volumes indicate inflammation in the area of the paranasal sinuses and require treatment. Thus, this study can help doctors in making the right decision to take further medical action.

This article proposes StrawberryTalk, an Internet of Things (IoT) platform for image-based strawberry disease detection. StrawberryTalk reuses the wall-mounted monitoring cameras without extra hardware cost. The contributions of StrawberryTalk are the utilization of IoT for automatic photo shoot and the wind detection mechanism to eliminate the obscure photos due to the wind effects. Also, the data preprocessing and the infection detection models are manipulated as IoT devices to simplify the implementation of the multicascade artificial intelligence (AI) models. We derive the relationship between the camera zoom factor and the distance between the camera and the strawberries for optimal disease detection. Accuracy of detection may be affected by obscure photos. In terms of eliminating obscure photos due to wind effect, we analytically derive the relationship between the wind alert delay and the number of obscure photos that must be retaken. For the greenhouses in the Bao Mountain, we only need to retake one photo. Based on the experiments, the mean average precision (mAP) of StrawberryTalk (to detect exact spots in a leaf) can be up to 92.37%, which is better than the previous approaches. To detect if a pot has infected leaves, the accuracy of StrawberryTalk can be up to 97.92% at the zoom factor 30×. In commercial operation, it is important to detect all infected strawberry pots. StrawberryTalk is able to detect all infected pots (i.e., recall is 100%) with a camera of zoom factor of 12× . The accuracy is 96.88%. © 2014 IEEE.

Local Sequential MCMC for Data Assimilation with Applications in Geoscience

This paper presents a new data assimilation (DA) scheme based on a sequential Markov Chain Monte Carlo (SMCMC) DA technique [36] which is provably convergent and has been recently used for filtering, particularly for high-dimensional non-linear, and potentially, non-Gaussian state-space models. Unlike particle filters, which can be considered exact methods and can be used for filtering non-linear, non-Gaussian models, SMCMC does not assign weights to the samples/particles, and therefore, the method does not suffer from the issue of weight-degeneracy when a relatively small number of samples is used. We design a localization approach within the SMCMC framework that focuses on regions where observations are located and restricts the transition densities included in the filtering distribution of the state to these regions. This results in immensely reducing the effective degrees of freedom and thus improving the efficiency. We test the new technique on high-dimensional (d ∼ 104 − 105) linear Gaussian model and non-linear shallow water models with Gaussian noise with real and synthetic observations. For two of the numerical examples, the observations mimic the data generated by the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission led by NASA, which is a swath of ocean height observations that changes location at every assimilation time step. We also use a set of ocean drifters' real observations in which the drifters are moving according the ocean kinematics and assumed to have uncertain locations at the time of assimilation. Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned. © 2022 IEEE.

Today globally people designed different systems based on Internet of Things (IoT) principles and made human with smart living. In this article, an important application is proposed for our daily usage and is named as Smart Garbage Monitoring and Disposal Support System (SGMDSS). Since the advent of mobile communication and the spread of the Internet anywhere and anytime, there is a lot of scopes to control the devices from remote places. Solid garbage is one of the prior concerns today globally because improper execution of garbage removal from the villages, towns, and cities affects the people living there and it is the ultimate cause for new diseases. So, proper garbage management by using technology is a major concern of the hour. In the traditional existing system, the monitoring and disposal of garbage are done by humans and it is cumbersome, therefore supporting the traditional system with the flavor of IoT, then monitoring of garbage bins will be easy. This helps the people who are involved in the traditional garbage collection system and it will be the best feasible solution. The SGMDSS is a very innovative information management control system that helps the metros, cities, and villages hygiene and clean with a better garbage disposal. This system uses an advanced approach in which waste monitoring and disposal support are automated. SGMDSS monitors the garbage bins located at different locations and notifies about the level of garbage accumulated in the garbage bins through an android mobile application to the cleaning personnel for disposal and provides the shortest path to the garbage bin location that is almost filled. This information is also sent to the webpage and the entire data is stored and accessed through the cloud. Also, an alert message is sent to the worker. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of an RC polyphase filter (RCPF) and circuitry for measuring its frequency characteristics. The integrated circuit is fabricated on a 0.6 µm CMOS process and its supply voltage is 5 V. The integrated circuit includes a filter under test (FUT), a four-phase square wave generator, several analog switches and differential amplifiers to amplify the high-impedance signals of the RCPF. This FUT is a third-order complex RCPF whose passband is 8 − 40 MHz. This paper describes the design of these circuits in detail. This integrated circuit can select two measurement methods by means of external control signals. The first method uses a four-phase square wave. The frequency characteristics are measured by using an on-chip four-phase square wave generator driven by an external clock generator and by a spectrum analyzer tuned to the fundamental frequency. The second method uses an external network analyzer. Furthermore, this integrated circuit is equipped with a calibration circuit to measure the frequency characteristics of the circuitry except FUT by passing through the input / output signals of the FUT. As a result, the frequency characteristics of the FUT itself can be accurately measured. The effectiveness is confirmed through evaluation of the fabricated integrated circuit. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

The purpose of this study was to develop a computer assisted instruction about problem solving with equations to enhance critical thinking skills of the fifth grade students. Two phases were undertaken in the study. The first phase aimed to develop and monitor the quality of the CAI in which five experts on design and CAI were the main group to evaluate it. The second was to test and evaluate the CAI in which 30 fifth grade students within Bankotabaru School in Yala province were the main participants. The data collected within the first academic term of 2017 in Thailand were analysed using descriptive statistics, such as percentages, means, standard deviations, and t-test. The results were that the CAI aiming to enhance critical thinking skills of the students were divided into 3 parts;1) an introduction;2) teaching processes;and 3) an evaluation. There was a higher percentage of critical thinking skills of the participants in association with before and after the use of the CAI at 52.18 and 80.41 with the difference value of 28.23 and the statistical significance of 0.05 level. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Industrial and distribution service problems that belong to combinatorial optimization include vehicle routing with Vehicle Routing Problem. This research builds a framework and implements it in a multi-class optimization model to reduce overfitting and misclassification results caused by unbalanced multiclassification in the influence of the number of ‘nodes’ on vehicle routes with machine learning. The problem of imbalance in vehicle route classification has been a challenge in the classification process and attracted the attention of a number of researchers. The purpose of the model in general is to gain an understanding of the mechanism in the problem so as to classify the imbalanced vehicle route data based on JNE delivery routes. The solution method that will be used by applying k-nearest neighbor to determine the amount of carrying capacity of the goods will then determine the delivery location point with the vehicle routing problem. So that this model can be a model in determining vehicle routes based on the capacity limit of the number of shipments of goods.
