The load frequency control (LFC) system is the primary subject of this investigation because of the critical role it plays in regulating both the generation and demand of electrical power. It is becoming increasingly important to ensure that the LFC system is implemented with precision as the level of uncertainty surrounding renewable energy sources and altering demand patterns continues to increase. An investigation into the dynamics of low-frequency converters (LFC) in a hybrid power system that functions in two domains and is comprised of a photovoltaic (PV) system and a reheat thermal system is the focus of this scientific study. The implementation of a tilt-integral-derivative (TID) controller is done in order to improve the performance of the system. In addition, the paper provides a description of the process by which the controller settings were adjusted by employing a one-of-a-kind optimization technique known as the Prairie dog optimizer (PDO). There has been no investigation into the use of this approach in LFC designs. It is an integral of time-multiplied absolute error (ITAE) that serves as the objective function of the optimization approach. A comparison is made between the performance of the PDO-tuned TID controller and other established strategies that have been published in recent literature. A decrease in overshoot values and an improvement in damping durations for both system frequency and tie-line power fluctuations are two of the evidences that demonstrate that the suggested strategy is superior to the methodologies that are currently in use. The results reveal that the proposed strategy is superior.

Within the scope of prostate cancer diagnostic imaging, distinguishing lesions is challenging due to their subtle appearance and the prostate gland's complexity. This study employed the nnU-Net, a state-of-the-art medical image segmentation model, on a dataset of 301 patients from 2 openly available datasets to identify whether lesion sizes are affecting the model's performance. By applying t-SNE dimensionality reduction algorithm among dice score and respective lesion sizes, we found that nnU-Net behaves differently for lesions smaller than 9mm compared to lesions larger than 15mm. These insights can inform specialized training approaches for future deep learning models in prostate lesion *** Relevance: The main contributions of this study is, to investigate whether lesion sizes affects nnU-Net's deficiency leading to the development of more specialized models in respect to these factors. © 2023 IEEE.

Using medical data to improve diagnosis accuracy has recently become common practice in hospitals. A modern computing environment has enabled real-time diagnosis of medical data using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To extract and evaluate skin melanoma recorded with digital dermatoscopy images (DDI), we developed a CNN segmentation framework. In this proposal, four phases are proposed: (i) DDI collection and resizing, (ii) DDI enhancement using pre-processing techniques, (iii) CNN segmentation for lesion extraction, (v) Comparing the extracted sections to the ground truth images, and (v) Verifying whether the framework is valid. Using DDI pre-processed with (i) Traditional procedures, (ii) Otsu's thresholding, (iii) Kapur's thresholding, and (iv) Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding, this proposal examines the different CNN segmentation schemes presented in the literature. For mining skin lesions, the Moth-Flame Algorithm (MFA) combined with tri-level thresholding achieves an optimal threshold for the DDI. With Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding images, the VGG-UNet performs better than the alternatives. This framework helps to achieve better values of Jaccard (88.47±2.13%), Dice (93.08±1.17%), and Accuracy (98.64±0.71%) on the chosen DDI database. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

computerized disease detection systems (CDDs) have proven effective for automatic screening in recent years. Among the standard procedures in hospitals for faster and more accurate diagnosis is medical imaging-based disease screening. We aim to develop a CDD that detects COVID-19 using chest X-rays pre-trained vision transformers (PVTs). This scheme includes the following steps: (1) collecting images and resizing them, (2) implementing PVT for feature extraction, and (3) binary classifying the results and validating the proposed schemes. To prove the merit of the developed scheme, 4800 images (2400 normal and 2400 COVID-19) are analyzed. MLP classifiers verify the PVT performance using patch sizes of 6, 12, and 24. A patch size 24 results in 97.5% accuracy for the proposed CDD system. When patch sizes are increased to 12, accuracy increases to over 98%. For this specific task, smaller patch sizes are more effective. These high-accuracy results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed scheme for detecting COVID-19 in chest X-rays. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

computerized medical image examination (CMIE) plays a significant role in modern hospitals to achieve the necessary tasks, like segmentation and classification. By segmenting an image, we can extract a particular section for examination. A two-dimensional computed tomography (CT) slice was used for liver-vessel examination (LiVE). A simple automatic technique for supporting LiVE is being developed in this research. A CT slice is collected, a 3D to 2D conversion is done, (ii) Kapur's tri-level thresholding and Hummingbird-Optimizer is used to enhance the CT slice, (iii) the watershed algorithm (WA) is used to extract the vessel, and (iv) the WA is compared and verified against the segmentation methods chosen. WA provides better segmentation results than other methods because it is an automatic approach. Using the chosen image database, the proposed technique achieves an overall segmentation accuracy of >97%. Other segmentation problems can be used in the future to verify the merit of this scheme. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

With the substantial increase in Cybercrime, the pressing need for effective solutions in the light of the rising amount of corporate financial losses, is a concern f or many researchers. The widespread adoption of ecommerce and diverse online payment methods has contributed to the surge in a major form of cybercrime - online payment fraud. This further highlights the critical need to control and reduce the widespread danger of fraudulent behaviour on the internet. However, predicting online payment fraud is difficult as fraudsters are constantly changing their tactics, transactions happen quickly and in large volumes, transactions involve different regions and countries, stolen data is often used and other factors. Our goal is to improve the accuracy and usability of online payment fraud prediction through the use of machine learning. A well-established and widely recognized dataset specifically designed for studying online payment fraud was used. The six proposed algorithms trained and tested were (SVM), Decision Tree, Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, (KNN) and Logistic Regression. After rigorous testing, Decision Tree presented the highest accuracy in performance of 98.58%. However, as ten-fold cross validation was implemented on the dataset, Decision Tree suffered a loss while Random Forest had an increase in accuracy making it the best model with accuracy of 98.47%. As shown in this paper, machine learning has proven to be a reliable and ever-evolving approach for the prediction of Online Payment Fraud and results can be further improved in collaboration with financial and cybercrime specialists. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel hybrid optimization method to solve the resource allocation problem for multi-target multi-sensor tracking of drones. This hybrid approach, the Improved Prairie Dog Optimization Algorithm (IPDOA) with the Genetic Algorithm (GA), utilizes the strengths of both algorithms to improve the overall optimization performance. The goal is to select a set of sensors based on norms of weighted distances cost function. The norms are the Euclidean distance and the Mahalanobis distance between the drone location and the sensors. The second one depends on the predicted covariance of the tracker. The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is used for state estimation with proper clutter and detection models. Since we use Multi-objects to track, the Joint Probability Distribution Function (JPDA) estimates the best measurement values with a preset gating threshold. The goal is to find a sensor or minimum set of sensors that would be enough to generate high-quality tracking based on optimum resource allocation. In the experimentation simulated with Stone Soup, one radar among five radars is selected at every time step of 50-time steps for 200 tracks distributed over 20 different ground truths. The proposed IPDOA provided optimum solutions for this complex problem. The obtained solution is an optimum offline solution that is used to select one or more sensors for any future flights within the vicinity of the 5 radars. Environment and conditions are assumed to be similar in future drone flights within the radars’ defined zone. The IPDOA performance was compared with the other 8 metaheuristic optimization algorithms and the testing showed its superiority over those techniques for solving this complex problem. The proposed simulated model can find the most relevant sensor(s) capable of generating the best quality tracks based on weighted distance criteria (Euclidean and Mahalanobis). Crab: A Unified Audio-Visual Scene Understanding Model with Explicit Cooperation

In recent years, numerous tasks have been proposed to encourage model to develop specified capability in understanding audio-visual scene, primarily categorized into temporal localization, spatial localization, spatio-temporal reasoning, and pixel-level understanding. Instead, human possesses a unified understanding ability for diversified tasks. Therefore, designing an audio-visual model with general capability to unify these tasks is of great value. However, simply joint training for all tasks can lead to interference due to the heterogeneity of audiovisual data and complex relationship among tasks. We argue that this problem can be solved through explicit cooperation among tasks. To achieve this goal, we propose a unified learning method which achieves explicit inter-task cooperation from both the perspectives of data and model thoroughly. Specifically, considering the labels of existing datasets are simple words, we carefully refine these datasets and construct an Audio-Visual Unified Instruction-tuning dataset with Explicit reasoning process (AV-UIE), which clarifies the cooperative relationship among tasks. Subsequently, to facilitate concrete cooperation in learning stage, an interaction-aware LoRA structure with multiple LoRA heads is designed to learn different aspects of audiovisual data interaction. By unifying the explicit cooperation across the data and model aspect, our method not only surpasses existing unified audio-visual model on multiple tasks, but also outperforms most specialized models for certain tasks. Furthermore, we also visualize the process of explicit cooperation and surprisingly find that each LoRA head has certain audio-visual understanding ability. A Web Platform Based on the NIST CSF for Assessing and Monitoring the Cybersecurity of SMEs and Critical Infrastructures

The NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF) serves as a voluntary guideline aimed at helping organizations, tiny and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and critical infrastructure operators, effectively manage cyber risks. Although comprehensive, the complexity of the NIST CSF can be overwhelming, especially for those lacking extensive cybersecurity resources. Current implementation tools often cater to larger companies, neglecting the specific needs of SMEs, which can be vulnerable to cyber threats. To address this gap, our research proposes a user-friendly, open-source web platform designed to simplify the implementation of the NIST CSF. This platform enables organizations to assess their risk exposure and continuously monitor their cybersecurity maturity through tailored recommendations based on their unique profiles. Our methodology includes a literature review of existing tools and standards, followed by a description of the platform’s design and architecture. Initial tests with SMEs in Burkina Faso reveal a concerning cybersecurity maturity level, indicating the urgent need for improved strategies based on our findings. By offering an intuitive interface and cross-platform accessibility, this solution aims to empower organizations to enhance their cybersecurity resilience in an evolving threat landscape. The article concludes with discussions on the practical implications and future enhancements of the tool.
