Modern city construction focuses on developing smart transportation, but the recognition of the large number of non-motorised vehicles in the city is still not sufficient. Compared to fixed recognition equipment, drones have advantages in image acquisition due to their flexibility and maneuverability. On the basis of dataset collected from aerial images taken by drones, this study designs a non-motorised vehicle recognition system that combines with YOLOv8 algorithm and Pyside6, providing data support to recognize non-motorised vehicles and promoting further research on non-motorised vehicle recognition. In order to enable neural networks to fit better network models, this article collected data and constructed a non-motorised vehicle dataset, enhanced the dataset based on the characteristics of images captured by drones, and then trained the model to obtain the best training weights, achieving a recognition accuracy of 99.5%. To design the recognition system, this study uses Pyside6 to complete interface design and functional implementation. Group box controls are used to place various functional modules, while horizontal sliders and precise selection modules are designed for confidence adjustment. Meanwhile, multi-Thread class is used to connect the signal to a specified slot function to achieve user interaction functionality. This function enables users to select files, models, and the degree of confidence so that users can directly know the number of non-motorised vehicles driving in the current image, providing data support for road management. In summary, this article constructed a non-motorised vehicle recognition system based on the YOLOv8 and Pyside6. This system has a high recognition accuracy of 99.5% for non-motorised vehicles, and users can monitor non-motorised vehicles driving in specific road sections through a simple and easy understand user interface, filling the gap of fixed monitoring equipment.
