This paper is based on elastic wave propagation and six component seismic detection methods to detect underwater targets, which makes up for the shortcomings of traditional underwater acoustic passive detection methods that cannot effectively detect targets in near shallow water. The implementation of this article requires four steps: firstly, using a self-developed six component seismometer to collect seismic signals excited by the target;Secondly, screen out abnormal six component seismic signals;Step 3: Data preprocessing such as denoising and azimuth correction;Finally, the target direction finding is achieved by comprehensively utilizing rotational and translational seismic signals. Through multiple experiments, it can be concluded that: (1) using a six component seismic sensor can detect the six component seismic signal excited by the target, and the lower the detection frequency band, the easier it is to detect the low-frequency signal excited by the target;(2) It can be clearly observed in the time-frequency domain that moving targets have a close far passing characteristic;(3) The energy of the six component seismic signal has a certain proportional relationship with the target distance. The closer the target distance is, the greater the energy of the excited six component seismic signal;(4) Six component seismic signals can be used to achieve target detection and positioning. Compared to traditional seismic detection, six component seismic detection has a higher ability and is an important supplement to traditional underwater acoustic detection methods. This article first discovered that underwater moving targets not only generate seismic translational signals, but also contain low-frequency rotational seismic signals. In this work, a network of Morris–Lecar neurons with electromagnetic induction is imposed with nonlinear magnetic flux diffusion. We study wave propagation in a network of Morris–Lecar (ML) neurons with magnetic flux diffusion, connected to the local nodes of the nearest neighbors in a $$110 \times 110$$ lattice of neurons with periodic boundary conditions. First, we explore the effect of various initial conditions on the modified ML neuron network without imposing external stimuli. Subsequently, we apply external stimuli at different positions and study wave propagation by changing the amplitude and frequency of the stimuli. The effects of varying Nernst potential of potassium ions, coupling strengths, and flux constants are also analyzed. The resulting collective dynamics of the considered neuronal network are provided in snapshots with different model parameters. This study offers a novel perspective on wave propagation in networks of biological neurons.

Human activity recognition is crucial for tactile internet, virtual reality, and digital-twin applications. Previous works have analyzed machine learning for this purpose but often need to pay more attention to typical challenges when deploying these machine learning models in production. First, data must be transmitted to the network node on which the machine-learning model is running. However, scaling human activity recognition by the number of devices and users puts additional constraints on the available transmission channel. While transmitting less data saves bandwidth, removing redundant information from the data can also benefit machine learning. This paper addresses the problem of transmitting wearable sensor data for human activity recognition. To this end, we analyze the extent to which wearable sensor data can be compressed via sparse coding without sacrificing loss in recognition performance. We empirically illustrate, on various datasets, that only a fraction of sensor information is relevant for human activity recognition.

The article describes the use of a neural network implementation of BCH codes encoding and decoding devices for error correction in on-the-fly data compression systems. The user payload vector is encoded in the BCH code with additional redundancy, which provides linear data separability and better convergence when training the autoencoder. On the receiving side, the decoding device operates in the error correction mode, which makes it possible not to impose strict requirements on the accuracy of data recovery when training the autoencoder. Examples of such devices are described in the article. © 2022 IEEE.

The Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) paradigm enables services that have strict network requirements like a maximum tolerable latency or a minimum bandwidth requirement. This consequently leads to a tight coupling of networks and computing, since the service can only function correctly if its communication requirements are met. Numerous existing strategies for MEC service deployment or resource selection put the characteristics of computing demands correlated with the free capacity of nodes or inter-service dependencies in their focus. In contrast, our work is a complementary attempt to enable especially the consideration of the strict communication needs of MEC services. It shows how edge features, i.e., knowledge of edge network conditions and service requirements, can be used to support resource selection and orchestration strategies. We consider and discuss how our model meQ can be applied in real communication systems as well as in heterogeneous networks, where clients may have multiple uplink connections. To enable communication-optimized selection strategies, meQ consists of two major components. A sharable, graph-based network representation and online searches to determine resources. The model benefits from existing work and limits the search space with the use of edge features. A performed simulation study demonstrates the benefits of meQ. The results show that it is possible to significantly reduce the search space, leading to lower search efforts also in large network graphs. An additional system-level simulation proves integration and applicability under realistic conditions.

Introduction: Automated Machine Learning or AutoML is a set of approaches and processes to make machine learning accessible for non-experts. AutoML can exhibit optimized enhancement of an existing model or suggest the best models for precise datasets. In the field of computerized Artificial Intelligence (AI), medical experts better utilize AI models with available encrypted information science ability. Methods: This paper aims to characterize and summarize the stage-wise design of Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) analysis e-healthcare platform starting from the sensing layer and transmission to the cloud using IoT (Internet of Things). To support the AutoML concept, the Auto Weka2.0 package, which serves as the open-source software platform, holds the predominant priority for experimental analysis to generate statistical reports. Results: To validate the entire framework, a case study on Glaucoma diagnosis using the AutoML concept is carried out, and its identification of best-fit model configuration rates is also presented. The Auto-ML built-in model possesses a higher influence factor to generate population-level statistics from the available individual patient histories. Conclusion: Further, AutoML is integrated with the Closed-loop Healthcare Feature Store (CHFS) to support data analysts with an automated end-to-end ML pipeline to help clinical experts provide better medical examination through automated mode. © 2024 The Author(s). The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to provide cellular communication in rural areas, disaster-hit regions, or during temporary events is gaining increasing attention due to its flexible deployment and energy efficiency compared to fixed terrestrial infrastructures. However, UAVs experience significant challenges such as the limited wireless connectivity provided by Ka-band frequency, and their flying time is constrained by the energy consumed during the data transmission and the complexity of the Baseband Unit (BBU) implementation. Using different lower layer functional split options (e.g., 7-1, 7-2, 7-2x, and 7-3), this paper provides a theoretical and simulation analysis of the 5G New Radio (NR) physical layer specifications to achieve a fronthaul bandwidth that can be supported by the Ka-band. These functional split options are then compared in terms of fronthaul bandwidth, theoretical throughput, connection density, number of functions deployed at the UAV, and the energy consumption of the fronthaul transmission to determine which functional split option is better suited for a multi-layered Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN). © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

The tapered asymmetric directional coupler has the potential to realize high fabrication tolerance and high transmission efficiency on-chip mode multiplexer. However, the geometry parameter selection of tapered structure remains empirical. In this paper, we propose a design method for the tapered structure based on genetic algorithm. Combined with the adjusted coupling equations and interpolation method, lowtime-cost optimization can be realized. Three mode multiplexers(TE0&TE1, TE0&TE2 and TE0&TE5)are designed by our method. According to simulation results, the insertion loss of the designed devices is lower than 1.8 dB and the crosstalk is lower than-15 dB when the fabrication error is within required range(±10 nm for TE0&TE2 and TE0&TE5, and ±20 nm for TE0&TE1) in the bandwidth of 1.5–1.6 μm. In addition, the entire optimization process takes only 2 h for each device, which is around the time cost of a single 3 D simulation.
