While the development of fully autonomous vehicles is one of the major research fields in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) domain, the upcoming long-term transition period - the hybrid vehicular traffic - is often neglected. However, within the next decades, automotive systems with heterogeneous autonomy levels will share the same road network, resulting in new problems for traffic management systems and communication network infrastructure providers. In this paper, we identify key challenges of the upcoming hybrid traffic scenario and present a system-of-systems model, which brings together approaches and methods from traffic modeling, data science, and communication engineering in order to allow data-driven traffic flow optimization. The proposed model consists of data acquisition, data transfer, data analysis, and data exploitation and exploits real world sensor data as well as simulative optimization methods. Based on the results of multiple case studies, which focus on individual challenges (e.g., resource-efficient data transfer and dynamic routing of vehicles), we point out approaches for using the existing infrastructure with a higher grade of efficiency. This paper analyzes the existing multiconstrained QoS routing methods, builds a mathematical model that satisfies multiconstrained QoS routing, and converts multiple constraints into a fitness function through a penalty function. On this basis, a new multiconstrained routing algorithm PSPSO-FWA in DAG is proposed. The algorithm first prunes the network topology map, deletes the path that does not satisfy the multiple constraints, and reduces the search space. Then use particle swarm optimization (PSO) to search, to solve the problem of falling into local optimum and speed up local search, the fireworks algorithm (FWA) is introduced for optimization. The simulation shows the success rate of PSPSO-FWA algorithm is increased by 2.47% compared with the current PSO algorithm, and the problem is about 1.95% higher than the PSO-ACO algorithm. The average cost of the last search is about 2.27% higher than that of the PSO algorithm, which is about 1.46% higher than the PSO-ACO algorithm. © 2018 IEEE.

The emerging fifth-generation wireless networks aim at ensuring that various low latency wireless services can be timely and satisfactorily served in any time, any location, and any way. However, even with well-developed infrastructure-based wireless networks, it is still challenged to realize the goal of communicating in low latency for emerging medical services or entertainments such as virtual reality and augmented reality. In this paper, an enhanced computing architecture is proposed to handle the wireless big data applications by integrating the wireless body area networks (WBANs) and mobile edge computing (MEC). Specifically, access points in WBANs are located next to the remote radio heads, which are designed to handle the delay sensitive computation tasks, while MEC is assigned to execute tasks with high computation. UEs are divided into local execution and reschedule sets, according to the energy consumption, delay and channel condition requirements. Moreover, a task offloading request algorithm is proposed, tasks are offloaded to AP or MEC based on the latency requirements. Consider the limited computation resources of AP, a task arrangement algorithm is given, tasks with lower priority will be offloaded to MEC to execute. The results demonstrate that UEs with higher computation capacity achieve lower average service time and higher number of successfully executed tasks at the cost of the network lifetime.

High throughput and low cost LDPC reconciliation for quantum key distribution

Reconciliation is a crucial procedure in post-processing of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which is used for correcting the error bits in sifted key strings. Although most studies about reconciliation of QKD focus on how to improve the efficiency, throughput optimizations have become the highlight in high-speed QKD systems. Many researchers adpot high cost GPU implementations to improve the throughput. In this paper, an alternative high throughput and efficiency solution implemented in low cost CPU is proposed. The main contribution of the research is the design of a quantized LDPC decoder including improved RCBP-based check node processing and saturation-oriented variable node processing. Experiment results show that the throughput up to 60Mbps is achieved using the bi-directional approach with reconciliation efficiency approaching to 1.1, which is the optimal combination of throughput and efficiency in Discrete-Variable QKD (DV-QKD). Meanwhile, the performance remains stable when Quantum Bit Error Rate (QBER) varies from 1% to 8%. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Tropical disease grows fast and requires detection. One source of data for detections is social media Twitter. However, social media data has data with diverse data structures primarily from unstructured user syntax and grammar. Therefore the twitter message (tweet) must be purified by a preprocessing method involving part of speech (POS) rule. This paper proposes a preprocessing model for twitter data to obtain a clean dataset. There are some steps. Firstly, we use Out-of-Vocabulary (OOV) word to analyse the tweets from Indonesian texts. Secondly, in stemming step, we use Sastrawi library. We also compare the result of tokenization and combining with Out-of-vocabulary (OOV) Word, Stemming N-Gram, and Stop Word Removal Sastrawi library into a well preprocessing approach. From the experimental result, we can get the result of Preprocessing task related to tweet data characteristic in Indonesia language. We can conclude that our form get more valuable result in terms of meaningful word occurrence comparing to the result obtained by just running common preprocessing tasks.

By combining multiple sensing and wireless access technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT) shall exhibit features with large-scale, massive, and heterogeneous sensors and data. To integrate diverse radio access technologies, we present the architecture of heterogeneous IoT system for smart industrial parks and build an IoT experimental platform. Various sensors are installed on the IoT devices deployed on the experimental platform. To efficiently process the raw sensor data and realize edge artificial intelligence (AI), we describe four statistical features of the raw sensor data that can be effectively extracted and processed at the network edge in real time. The statistical features are calculated and fed into a back-propagation neural network (BPNN) for sensor data classification. By comparing to the k-nearest neighbor classification algorithm, we examine the BPNN-based classification method with a great amount of raw data gathered from various sensors. We evaluate the system performance according to the classification accuracy of BPNN and the performance indicators of the cloud server, which shows that the proposed approach can effectively enable the edge-AI-based heterogeneous IoT system to process the sensor data at the network edge in real time while reducing the demand for computing and network resources of the cloud.

A wealth of evidence shows that real-world networks are endowed with the small-world property, i.e., that the maximal distance between any two of their nodes scales logarithmically rather than linearly with their size. In addition, most social networks are organized so that no individual is more than six connections apart from any other, an empirical regularity known as the six degrees of separation. Why social networks have this ultrasmall-world organization, whereby the graph’s diameter is independent of the network size over several orders of magnitude, is still unknown. We show that the “six degrees of separation” is the property featured by the equilibrium state of any network where individuals weigh between their aspiration to improve their centrality and the costs incurred in forming and maintaining connections. We show, moreover, that the emergence of such a regularity is compatible with all other features, such as clustering and scale-freeness, that normally characterize the structure of social networks. Thus, our results show how simple evolutionary rules of the kind traditionally associated with human cooperation and altruism can also account for the emergence of one of the most intriguing attributes of social networks.

To provide a sustainable fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), several multiplexing techniques have been developed for this purpose. The correlation features are the main obstacle behind the network performance limitation, which imposes to a high level of multiple access interference. However, the development of multiplexing techniques helps to overcome these limitations, such as optical-code division multiple access (Optical-CDMA). Optical-CDMA is considered as one of the most powerful solutions for FTTH. This paper aims to enhance FTTH network performance by applying Zero cross-correlation code (ZCC) with Optical-CDMA with maximum link single-mode fiber. In the simulation, the system performance is demonstrated in terms of bit error rate, Q-Factor and eye diagram measurements.
