In this paper, we consider a multiuser multi-antenna two-way relay system in which multiple pairs of partners communicate via a single relay node. The total transmit power of the relay node is shared by all pairs of partners. In order to allocate the limited power with both efficiency and fairness, we introduce a sequential second price auction as a mechanism to achieve such goals. First, we provide the system model and formulate the channel capacity of each pair. Then, we construct an algorithm which leads to the equilibrium of a sequential second price auction with full information assumption and sophisticated bidding strategy. The equilibrium result is used for allocating the relay power among pairs of partners. Finally, we provide the simulation results considering both randomness of user locations and time-varying nature of wireless channels, which show that the proposed algorithm has a good performance in total channel capacity, system efficiency, and fairness. © 2012 Springer science+Business Media, LLC.

Tactical networks are used in military and rescue operations to provide timely and accurate information to operating teams. Tactical networks have traditionally used long distance narrow band radio links. However, although these links provide robust real-time communication the limited bandwidth makes them less suited for high data-rate applications. To support high-data rate TCP applications such as providing digital images and maps, emerging tactical networks use shorter range but higher data-rate wide band radio links and multihop. Due to the requirement of cheap up-front cost, most MANET research has focused on Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) networks. However, in tactical networks, where bounded delays are important, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) can give better possibility to support the Quality of Service needed for real-time communication. The purpose of this paper is to assess and compare the throughput of three state-of-the-art TCP versions and two routing protocols over TDMA based MANETs.

In this paper, we revisit the problem of target detection in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Because that the practical environment of WSNs is very complex, and usually the target signal is mixed with a lot of random noises, the phenomenon impacts the performance of target detection experiment. This paper set forth a new way to improve the system performance. We introduce gather multiple sample when we get the observation signals. After obtaining the samples, we calculate the judgments of each sensor by fusion rule. At last local sensors transfer their judgments to the fusion center. We prove that the method is better than single sample through Monte Carlo experiments because of the full use of the observation signals. © 2012 The Journal of China Universities of Posts and Telecommunications.

In this paper, we study the quality of service requirement and guaranteed-rate scheduling problem for combined-input-crosspoint-queued (CICQ) switches. Using crosspoint buffers between input queues and output ports, the input and output scheduling can be decoupled in CICQ switches. Here we propose a new guaranteed-rate scheduling algorithm which is divided seperately into input and output scheduling. Simulation results show that our algorithm can perform better than existing scheduling schemes in both packet loss and jitter control.

Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) require an efficient intrusion detection scheme to identify malicious attackers. Traditional detection schemes are not well suited for WSNs due to their higher false detection rate. In this paper, we propose a novel intrusion detection scheme based on the energy prediction in cluster-based WSNs (EPIDS). The main contribution of EPIDS is to detect attackers by comparing the energy consumptions of sensor nodes. The sensor nodes with abnormal energy consumptions are identified as malicious attackers. Furthermore, EPIDS is designed to distinguish the types of denial of service (DoS) attack according to the energy consumption rate of the malicious nodes. The primary simulation experiments prove that EPIDS can detect and recognize malicious attacks effectively. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Resource admission control is widely introduced to control the network resources, schedule the resources and admit new services. Resource reservation protocol (RSVP) is a transport layer protocol designed to reserve resource across a network for an integrated services internet. RSVP makes an appointment for each flow and the information of status grows fast with the increase of flow number, it isn't suitable for Ad Hoc networks because the cost of connection maintenance is more expensive than establishment. In this paper, we introduce a distributed resource admission control mechanism for Ad Hoc networks (DRACM), which can adapt to dynamic changes in mobile Ad Hoc network by close to call or packet transmission time granularity. DRACM responses rapidly to re-routing, can re-build a resource reservation in minimal service degradation or least service interruption. Meanwhile, we adopt client-oriented control mechanism, can also support multicast and meet the heterogeneity of receivers. © 2012 ICST Institute for computer science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

The admission control (AC) is one of the crucial components of in QoS-providing mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). The responsibility of AC is to estimate the state of the network resources and decide whether application data can be admitted without promising more resources. AC should achieve a right balance between admission accuracy and network resource waste. It aims to admit as many sessions as possible, while utilizing the network's resources fully and efficiently. Conversely, any inaccuracy in the admission decisions can result in the pledging of more resources than are available, leading to false admissions. However, the existing metrics are only network resource or performance related, thus, it is preferred to have a metric that can measure the effective AC protocols as it influences in achieving QoS demands of the sessions. Therefore, in this work we present observation-based admission control performance metrics quantifying the satisfaction of both single session and the entire network. Also we predict the possibilities of false admission and successful completion of a session and give discuss about the metrics. Finally, we proposed a design of feedback-based admission control using the metrics we presented for feedback parameters, the verification and implementation of our design and the effectiveness of the metrics is mentioned in the future works. © 2012 ICST Institute for computer science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
