A novel trust transmission method which is based on the similarities of nodes in trust models is proposed in this paper. Trust transmission is evaluated by calculating the similarity between recommenders when trustor does not have direct interaction with trustee. However, when there does not have direct recommenders, trust transmission is realized by guaranteed trust chains. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the trustworthiness of node behavior to some extent and is practical especially in case when nodes do not know each other. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012.

We propose an active optical clock scheme in four-level configuration with cesium atoms. The population inversion has been established experimentally between 7S 1/2 state and 6P 3/2 state in a thermal cesium cell with a 455.5 nm pumping laser. It can be used to generate active optical clock laser output in a bad cavity laser regime at the wavelength of 1469 nm.

With the development of web service, more and more attention has been drawn to web service in recent years. However, the damage caused by service security problems is becoming more and more serious nowadays. This paper develops a web service security analysis tool, WSSecTool, which is based on program slicing. This tool includes three modules namely slicing module, safety publishing module and testing module. Slicing module analyzes source codes of web service to generate method dependence graph (MDG). After MDG is generated, the tool slices MDG to detect the unsafe methods and the spread of them. Safety publishing module helps to hide unsafe methods to make them invisible to outer users after publishing. Testing module can test the services published by this tool to validate the correctness and feasibility of our analysis method. The experiments show that our tool is effective and practical. © 2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the co-tier and cross-tier interference mitigation problem using power control in a two-tier OFDMA femtocell network. By considering the femtocell base station (BS) as the auctioneer and the femtocell users as the bidders, we formulate this problem as an auction game, which aims at minimizing the total power radiated by the femtocell BS and guaranteeing the throughput requirement of the femtocell. Moreover, we propose a novel auction-based distributed algorithm, which can simultaneously allocate the power and subchannel resource through the auction game and achieve the near optimal performance with low computational complexity. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate our proposed algorithm can effectively allocate power and frequency while obtaining a good performance of throughput requirement and power consumption.

We developed a network platform that is responsible for an uninterrupted and seamless connectivity from the train to the wayside through heterogeneous wireless access technologies. However, limiting the offered services to only an onboard Internet is not a feasible business case. A viable one should extend to a broad spectrum of railway communication services like: train control, diagnostics, real time passenger information, entertainment, security CCTV surveillance etc. In a highly dynamic environment (from the communication link point of view) such a fast moving train, it is necessary to introduce prioritization among different traffic classes. This will implicitly determine under what conditions a certain flow should get suspended or dropped in order to preserve the flows of a higher priority as long as possible and to ensure that they meet their QoS demands. The first step towards this goal is data traffic differentiation.

We present a tunable triple-band μ-negative metamaterial composed of loop resonator and ferrite. The tunable triple-band-stop transmission spectrum of such metamaterial is investigated numerically by full wave simulations. Moreover, the corresponding effective parameters are retrieved to illustrate the tunable μ-negative characteristic.

Diffusion-based communication refers to the transfer of information using molecules as message carriers whose propagation is based on the law of molecular diffusion. Path loss can have a major impact on the link quality in molecular communication as the signal strength is shown inversely proportional to the cube of the communication distance. In this paper, various diversity techniques for Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) transmissions based on molecular diffusion are proposed to improve the communication performance in nanonetworks in the presence of Multi-User Interference (MUI). Analogous to radio communication, the concept of diversity and Spatial Multiplexing (SM) can be successfully applied in molecular communication. To the best of our knowledge, our paper is the first which investigates the aspects of MIMO transmissions for molecular communication. Numerical results show that the proposed diversity techniques can successfully lower the error rate. Further performance improvement can be obtained by properly allocating molecules among the transmission nodes if the Channel State Information (CSI) is available at the transmitter end. To optimize the system throughput, a dynamic switching mechanism between the diversity mode and the Spatial Multiplexing (SM) mode can be employed.

communications based on diffusion refers to the transfer of information using molecules as message carriers whose propagation is governed by the laws of Brownian motion. Molecular communication is considered to be one of the most promising approaches for the end-to-end communication between nanoscale devices. In this paper, both an optimal and a suboptimal receiver detection scheme are proposed for a diffusion-based binary digital communication system in the presence of ISI. The transmission of binary information is accomplished by using On-Off Keying (OOK) with only one molecule. The proposed system can serve as the theoretical basis for end-to-end communication in molecular nanonetworks where molecules of different types are used by different nanoscale devices. The effect of channel memory resulting from the residual molecule diffusion from previous transmissions is treated analytically in the formulation of the detection schemes. Numerical results show that the proposed detection schemes can maximize the mutual information over a practical range of the parameter of signaling interval without a priori information. A channel capacity of 1 bit per channel utilization during a signaling interval can be ultimately achieved by extending the duration of the signaling interval, even with infinite channel memory.

Diffusion-based communications refers to the transfer of information using particles as message carriers whose propagation is based on the law of particle diffusion. Though still at an early stage, there have been growing interests and research efforts dedicated to this communication technology. It has been identified that diffusion-based communications is one of the most promising approaches for end-to-end communication between nanoscale devices in the near future. In this paper, the design of a binary digital communication system is proposed based on particle diffusion. Stochastic signaling through On-Off Keying (OOK) for random particle emission and a diffusion channel with memory is considered. The diffusion is considered in the cases of one, two, and three dimensions. The receiver detection problem is formulated by using an information-theoretic approach. The optimal decision threshold for the receiver detection is derived through mutual information maximization for two cases, namely, when the a priori probability of bit transmission is fixed and known to the receiver and when this probability is unknown to the receiver. Numerical results indicate that in the case of diffusion in one or two dimensions, the information of a priori probability plays a key role in optimizing the system performance, while it does not when considering the diffusion in three dimensions.

It is often impractical to obtain global channel knowledge and conduct centralized optimization for wireless networks. We study distributed weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) in general MIMO interference networks, named B-MAC interference networks. It is desirable to exploit the structure of the problem to design distributed algorithms with high performance and low signaling overhead. We recently unveiled a polite water-filling (PWF) structure satisfied by all Pareto optimal inputs of important achievable regions of the B-MAC interference networks. The PWF offers an elegant method to decompose a network into multiple equivalent single user channels and thus, facilitates the design of distributed algorithms. Based on the PWF, we design efficient distributed algorithms which only need local channel knowledge and converge to a stationary point of the WSRM problem. For TDD networks, the duality inherited in PWF and the channel reciprocity are further exploited to reduce the signaling overhead. The proposed algorithms are shown by simulations to outperform the state-of-the-art.
