The petroleum industry has a complex,inflexible and challenging supply chain(SC)that impacts both the national economy as well as people’s daily lives with a range of services,including transportation,heating,electricity,lubricants,as well as chemicals and *** the petroleum industry,supply chain management presents several challenges,especially in the logistics sector,that are not found in other *** addition,logistical challenges contribute significantly to the cost of *** regarding customer demand and supply significantly affects SC ***,SC flexibility can be maintained by addressing *** the other hand,in the real world,decision-making challenges are often ambiguous or *** some cases,measurements are incorrect owing to measurement errors,instrument faults,etc.,which lead to a pentagonal fuzzy number(PFN)which is the extension of a fuzzy ***,it is necessary to develop quantitative models to optimize logistics operations and supply chain *** study proposed a linear programming model under an uncertain *** model minimizes the cost along the refineries,depots,multimode transport and demand *** developed pentagonal fuzzy optimization,an alternative approach is developed to solve the downstream supply chain using themixed-integer linear programming(MILP)model to obtain a feasible solution to the fuzzy transportation cost *** this model,the coefficient of the transportation costs and parameters is assumed to be a pentagonal fuzzy ***,defuzzification is performed using an accuracy *** validate the model and technique and feasibility solution,an illustrative example of the oil and gas SC is considered,providing improved results compared with existing techniques and demonstrating its ability to benefit petroleum companies is the objective of this study.

Ama is a challenging and risky profession. The income of this profession is highly dependent on the weather and the tides. Although technology can conveniently assist Ama in checking weather and tide information, no platform currently integrates both and performs analysis for Ama's reference. Therefore, this study developed a system that uses data from the Central Weather Bureau and the Open Data Platform for Meteorological Data to build a dedicated database for integrated analysis. After obtaining the coastal hazard prediction results through algorithms and Recurrent Neural Networks, the information is displayed in an APP for the user's reference. The APP also records the user's current location, and if any danger occurs, it can report to the rescue unit through the APP. The rescue unit can know the location through the web page and proceed with the rescue. © 2023 IEEE.

The erosion wear of the valve spool in an electro-hydraulic control system was studied numerically in this paper. The prediction mathematical model was established on the basis of studying the erosion wear characteristics of the valve spool under different opening degrees and fluid motion parameters, and the erosion wear mechanism and wear law of the valve spool were summarized. The results show that the average wear rate of the valve spool surface increases with the increase of erosion velocity. The average wear rate of the spool surface decreases with the increase of particle diameter. The mass loss rate of the valve spool is related to the opening and the flow parameters of the valve port. The wear rate is positively correlated with the flow velocity and negatively correlated with the particle diameter and the hardness of the valve spool. © 2024 SPIE.

Rigorous Runtime Analysis of Diversity Optimization with GSEMO on OneMinMax: A Preprint

The evolutionary diversity optimization aims at finding a diverse set of solutions which satisfy some constraint on their fitness. In the context of multi-objective optimization this constraint can require solutions to be Pareto-optimal. In this paper we study how the GSEMO algorithm with additional diversity-enhancing heuristic optimizes a diversity of its population on a bi-objective benchmark problem ONEMINMAX, for which all solutions are Pareto-optimal. We provide a rigorous runtime analysis of the last step of the optimization, when the algorithm starts with a population with a second-best diversity, and prove that it finds a population with optimal diversity in expected time O(n2), when the problem size n is odd. For reaching our goal, we analyse the random walk of the population, which reflects the frequency of changes in the population and their outcomes. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). In the second stage of research and the first variant (S2V1), the highest result of the F1 score was 0.932 and for the second variant (S2V2) F1 score was 0.930. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

As the Industry 4.0 shifts towards the adoption of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in warehouses, decentralized decision-making has become a key design principle. Multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) is a problem that involves assigning tasks to AMRs while optimizing the performance of the system. However, modeling decentralized MRTA applications for optimization without a central instance poses significant challenges due to the autonomy and flexibility of AMRs. In this paper, we propose a simulative approach to address the fleet sizing problem combined with decentralized MRTA applications for AMRs. Based on simulation data, models have been developed that predict key performance indicators (KPIs) for different warehouse layouts and requirements, using techniques from machine learning and mathematical optimization. The model represents KPIs such as constraint satisfaction and utilization rates in a decentralized MRTA scenario including a self-organizing material flow application. Based on this model, we introduce a fleet size selection mechanism. This research contributes to the field of Industry 4.0 by providing a generalizable simulative approach that is adaptable to flexible warehouse environments, allowing for the application of any MRTA algorithm. Moreover, this approach allows the integration of different KPIs, facilitating the adaptation of requirements. © 2023 IEEE.

Fixed-Parameter Tractability of the (1+1) Evolutionary Algorithm on Random Planted Vertex Covers

We present the first parameterized analysis of a standard (1+1) Evolutionary Algorithm on a distribution of vertex cover problems. We show that if the planted cover is at most logarithmic, restarting the (1+1) EA every O(n log n) steps will find a cover at least as small as the planted cover in polynomial time for sufficiently dense random graphs p > 0.71. For superlogarithmic planted covers, we prove that the (1+1) EA finds a solution in fixed-parameter tractable time in expectation. We complement these theoretical investigations with a number of computational experiments that highlight the interplay between planted cover size, graph density and runtime. Chance constraints are frequently used to limit the probability of constraint violations in real-world optimization problems where the constraints involve stochastic components. We study chance-constrained submodular optimization problems, which capture a wide range of optimization problems with stochastic constraints. Previous studies considered submodular problems with stochastic knapsack constraints in the case where uncertainties are the same for each item that can be selected. However, uncertainty levels are usually variable with respect to the different stochastic components in real-world scenarios, and rigorous analysis for this setting is missing in the context of submodular optimization. This paper provides the first such analysis for this case, where the weights of items have the same expectation but different dispersion. We present greedy algorithms that can obtain a high-quality solution, i.e., a constant approximation ratio to the given optimal solution from the deterministic setting. In the experiments, we demonstrate that the algorithms perform effectively on several chance-constrained instances of the maximum coverage problem and the influence maximization problem. © 2023 The Authors.
