In this paper, we propose the first symmetric encryption scheme based on traversals in the supersingular isogeny graph and point mapping under the 2n -isogeny, using the Legendre form of elliptic curves. In a supersingular isogeny graph, an elliptic curve can be transformed into an isogenous curve and then back to another curve with the same j-invariant by the means of a dual isogeny. However there are more than one elliptic curves with the same j-invariant and using just the dual isogenies won't lead to a correct curve mapping as well as point mapping that is required for symmetric encryption schemes. With Legendre form of elliptic curves, we define the orientation of six curves with the same j-invariant and precisely defined the rotation function as well as the standardized isogeny. The rotation as well as the standardized isogeny are used to define the accurate backtracking of elliptic curve, meaning we can move back and forth between isogenous curves. This capability naturally enabled us to design a symmetric encryption scheme which is quantum-safe due to the difficulty of the underlying problem. Our encryption scheme can be used to securely sharing short/frequently-changing secondary keys/secrets. © 2025 IEEE.

Remote sensing images present classification challenges due to the complexity of their structural and spatial patterns. This research explores a hybrid approach that combines convolutional neural network (CNN) and attention through feature fusion to improve scene classification accuracy in remote sensing images. The proposed architecture utilizes EfficientNet and VGGNet to extract depth features separately. The extracted features are then integrated with Dynamic Selfattention (DSA), which dynamically focuses the model on the most relevant information in the image. DSA allows the model to adaptively assign weights to different parts of the image, thus improving the discriminative ability of the model. Furthermore, a feature fusion technique is applied to combine information from different layers of the CNN and DSA modules. Experiments conducted on the UC Merced dataset showed accuracies of 0.9181 and 0.9167. These results show that the combination of CNN, DSA, and feature fusion is an effective and robust approach for remote sensing image classification. © 2025 IEEE.

Accurately predicting dry matter intake (DMI) in lactating crossbred cows under semi-arid conditions is a critical challenge in dairy farming. Precise DMI predictions are essential for optimizing nutrient utilization and enhancing animal performance, particularly in semi-arid environments, where complex and dynamic conditions prevail. This paper introduces a novel Error-Based Evolving Takagi-Sugeno (EBETS) Fuzzy Model designed to address these challenges by dynamically adapting to real-time data and leveraging both current and historical information to enhance prediction accuracy. The EBETS model employs fuzzy set theory and multivariate Gaussian functions to model complex, nonlinear relationships between variables, offering a more robust and flexible approach to DMI prediction. In experiments involving data from 114 crossbred cows under semi-arid conditions, the EBETS model was compared to traditional models and an artificial neural network. It achieved a mean squared error of 0.25, which is more than 90% lower than that of all the other models, while demonstrating a higher correlation coefficient with the expected values, indicating superior predictive performance and reliability. These results underscore the EBETS model’s substantial superiority over existing methods, highlighting its potential to significantly improve dairy farming productivity by providing precise and reliable DMI predictions in challenging environmental conditions. The model’s ability to continuously learn and adapt to changing conditions makes it a promising tool for various applications in agricultural science. © 2013 IEEE.

Human food needs are increasing all the time. This condition is in line with the increasing world population and exacerbated by climate change. Agricultural products are one of the sources of food to meet food needs. The use of technology is one of the keys to success in increasing agricultural production. One of the technologies used in agricultural technology is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT in agricultural technology can be used to monitor soil and weather conditions to ensure that these conditions are in accordance with the needs of agricultural crops. The use of machine learning technology can be combined with IoT to help predict the types of crops that are suitable for planting based on soil and weather conditions. The results of the experiment show that the machine learning model can be used to predict the right types of plants to plant based on soil and weather conditions obtained through IoT. We study variable-length feedback (VLF) codes with noiseless feedback for discrete memoryless channels. We present a novel non-asymptotic bound, which analyzes the average error probability and average decoding time of our modified Yamamoto-Itoh scheme. We then optimize the parameters of our code in the asymptotic regime where the average error probability ∈ remains a constant as the average decoding time N approaches infinity. Our second-order achievability bound is an improvement of Polyanskiy et al.’s (2011) achievability bound. We also develop a universal VLF code that does not rely on the knowledge of the underlying channel parameters. Our universal VLF code employs the empirical mutual information as its decoding metric and universalizes the code by Polyanskiy et al. (2011). We derive a second-order achievability bound for universal VLF codes. Our results for both VLF and universal VLF codes are extended to the additive white Gaussian noise channel with an average power constraint. The former yields an improvement over Truong and Tan’s (2017) achievability bound. The proof of our results for universal VLF codes uses a refined version of the method of types and an asymptotic expansion from the nonlinear renewal theory literature. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Visible light communications (VLC) enable wireless data transmission using existing light-emitting diode (LED) illumination. This experimental study evaluates the performance of multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) configurations in indoor VLC systems by analyzing their impact on both communication and illumination. Various MIMO setups (2 × 2, 3 × 2, and 4 × 2) are compared against single input single output (SISO), and single input multiple outputs (SIMO) schemes, using commercial LED luminaires as transmitters. While the 4 × 2 MIMO configuration demonstrates superior overall performance, intermediate configurations like 3 × 2 or 2 × 2 MIMO offer an attractive trade-off between system complexity and performance enhancement, particularly in scenarios with space or cost constraints. The results show that MIMO configurations significantly outperform SISO systems, achieving reliable communication (BER ≤ 10−3) at practical indoor distances of up to 2 meters while maintaining illumination levels above 300 lux, where conventional SISO setups do not meet these dual requirements. Fine Tuning Attribute Weighted Naïve Bayes (FTAWNB) is a reliable modified Naïve Bayes model. Even though it is able to provide high accuracy on ordinal data, this model is sensitive to outliers. To improve the performance of FTAWNB, this research modified the Partial Instances Reduction (PIR) technique to make the FTAWNB more adaptive to outliers. Nevertheless, in contrast to the original PIR technique, which substitutes missing values for data values deemed outliers, the PIR technique suggested in this study replaces data values deemed outliers using a Naïve Bayes weighting approach. The attribute values from the outlier data are replaced with the highest probability values for the attributes in the actual class. This PIR technique is referred to as modified PIR. The FTAWNB model with modified PIR has been evaluated using the Gaming Disorder dataset. Replacing the four attributes with the least amount of information resulted in accuracy gains of 99.74%, an increase of 1.53% over the FTAWNB model. The experimental result shows that adding the modified PIR technique to the FTAWNB model can handle the outlier in the data, proving it by increasing the performance in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall without pruning the dataset used. © 2025, Ital Publication. The exponential growth of the number of devices connected to the Internet and the use of IoT applications increases the amount of data exchange over public channels in low-cost and low-power embedded systems. Images are the most widely shared files, and standard symmetric algorithms such as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) are optimized for text but not image encryption. Consequently, new approaches like chaotic encryption have attracted researchers’ interest. Chaotic encryption schemes have been analyzed mostly from a software standpoint, but recent advancements in the field, through the use of discrete chaotic maps, enabled the development of simpler hardware implementations of ciphers with promising reductions in power and cost and increased performance. This work presents the Field-programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation of a simultaneous permutation-diffusion chaotic encryption scheme utilizing a discrete-space chaotic map. The FPGA implementation of the cipher is analyzed considering area, maximum frequency, and power consumption, and comparisons are made with the AES. The proposed algorithm has a satisfactory trade-off between area, power and performance, obtaining a peak throughput 59% higher than state-of-the-art symmetric ciphers in the literature. Thus, the proposed cipher shows that chaotic ciphers are viable for both high-performance and low-power embedded devices. A General Framework for Clustering and Distribution Matching with Bandit Feedback

We develop a general framework for clustering and distribution matching problems with bandit feedback. We consider a K-armed bandit model where some subset of K arms is partitioned into M groups. Within each group, the random variable associated to each arm follows the same distribution on a finite alphabet. At each time step, the decision maker pulls an arm and observes its outcome from the random variable associated to that arm. Subsequent arm pulls depend on the history of arm pulls and their outcomes. The decision maker has no knowledge of the distributions of the arms or the underlying partitions. The task is to devise an online algorithm to learn the underlying partition of arms with the least number of arm pulls on average and with an error probability not exceeding a pre-determined value δ. Several existing problems fall under our general framework, including finding M pairs of arms, odd arm identification, and N-ary clustering of K arms belong to our general framework. We derive a non-asymptotic lower bound on the average number of arm pulls for any online algorithm with an error probability not exceeding δ. Furthermore, we develop a computationally-efficient online algorithm based on the Track-and-Stop method and Frank-Wolfe algorithm, and show that the average number of arm pulls of our algorithm asymptotically matches that of the lower bound. Our refined analysis also uncovers a novel bound on the speed at which the average number of arm pulls of our algorithm converges to the fundamental limit as δ vanishes. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Corrosion poses a significant challenge in industries due to material degradation and high maintenance costs, making effective inhibitors essential. Recent studies suggest expired pharmaceuticals as alternative corrosion inhibitors, but identifying the most efficient compounds can be time-consuming. This study applies machine learning models, particularly Gradient Boosting Regressor (GBR), to predict corrosion inhibition efficiency (CIE). The developed model is integrated into a web-based application, enabling real-time, accurate CIE predictions. Results show GBR as the more precise model for predicting CIE, with low error rates. The streamlit-based web application offers a user-friendly platform, facilitating quick identification of suitable inhibitors. It is flexible, supporting analysis beyond corrosion inhibitors, and significantly enhances the efficiency of the evaluation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
