Parkinson’s disease (PD) disorder is caused by the imbalance of inhibitory dopamine and excitatory acetylcholine neurotransmitters, which causes hindrance in locomotion. Freezing of gait (FOG), tremors, and bradykinesia are the most debilitating and disconcerting symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease (PD). FOG episodes occur due to neurological control disorder and motorized impairments, which sternly hinder voluntary movement and forward locomotion. The computational intelligence techniques can effectively predict PD from the sensor data. To detect the FOG episodes often experienced by PD patients, this paper utilizes a 5G spectrum that operates at 4.8 GHz. The main idea of the proposed system is to extract the wireless channel characteristics information (containing amplitude variances) that can be integrated into a 5G communication system. This system collects data through wireless devices such as dipole antennas, network interface cards, and RF signal generators. Five human activities were performed: fast walking, slow walking, sitting on a chair, FOG episodes, and voluntary stopping. We proposed a novel deep dual self-attention and Bi-LSTM fusion architecture for PD prediction to train the collected dataset. Two architectures have been proposed, namely Deep Dual Attention Neural Network (D2ANN) and BiLSTM Neural Network (BNN), for the classification of PD using Chanel State Information (CSI) data. After that, the most prominent information is extracted using self-attention activation. A newly informed weighted fusion approach is proposed, and tree growth optimization is employed for the best feature selection. Finally, the selected features are classified using a multilayer full SoftMax neural network. The experimental process was conducted on FOG wireless sensor network data and obtained the highest accuracy of 98.66%. Context-aware fire detection is a significant task in the era of new urban monitoring. Severe damage might result from fire events. To minimize the occurrence of these events, timely detection of fire accidents is necessary. Various machine-learning and deep learning methods are used for fire detection. Most of them do not focus on the extent of the fire or the damage it causes. All these methods need the detection of the criticality of the fire event. This work proposes an identification system based on Large Vision Models (LVMs) for fire detection. We proposed an intelligent criticality-aware fire detection system that can detect fire and its varying scales from small to large and generate alarming alerts accordingly. The model integrates advanced computer vision techniques with LVMs to explain the hidden context in a textual format. The system is tested on real-time data collected from surveillance cameras and achieves an accuracy of 86.67% in correctly identifying the context-based criticality of the fire events depicted in the input data. This proposed framework can revolutionize surveillance applications by enhancing security and responding to crucial fire incidents in real-time. The system provides an efficient method for allocating resources and facilitates rapid response to incidents to prioritize activities intelligently. Using this approach, we identified and prioritized fire incidents in the urban environment. © 2024 IEEE.

A Unified Multi-Domain Face Normalization Framework for Cross-domain Prototype Learning and Heterogeneous Face Recognition

Face normalization is a critical technique for improving the robustness and generalizability of face recognition systems by reducing intra-personal variations arising from expressions, poses, occlusions, illuminations, and domain shifts. Existing normalization methods, however, often lack the flexibility to handle multi-factorial variations and exhibit limited cross-domain adaptability. To address these challenges, we propose a Unified Multi-Domain Face Normalization Network (UMFN), which is designed to process facial images with diverse variations from various domains and reconstruct frontal, neutralized facial prototypes in the target domain. As an unsupervised domain adaptation model, the UMFN facilitates concurrent training across multiple cross-domain datasets and demonstrates robust prototype reconstruction capabilities. Notably, the UMFN functions as a joint prototype and feature learning framework, extracting domain-agnostic identity features through a decoupling mapping network and adversarial training with a feature domain classifier. Furthermore, we design an efficient Heterogeneous Face Recognition (HFR) network that integrates these domain-agnostic features and the identity-discriminative features extracted from normalized prototypes, enhanced by contrastive learning to improve identity recognition accuracy. Empirical evaluation on multiple cross-domain benchmark datasets validate the effectiveness of the UMFN for face normalization and the superiority of the HFR network for heterogeneous face recognition. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

In today’s healthcare landscape, where participation is widespread, the need for secure and efficient record management is evident. However, many healthcare organizations, particularly in regions like India, still rely on outdated paper-based methods for handling medical records. Unfortunately, these traditional approaches fall short in meeting the rigorous requirements for security, confidentiality, and efficiency in today’s digital age. This work presents a comprehensive framework that integrates modern technologies such as Smart Contracts, Ethereum Blockchain, and the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) to ensure secure storage, and seamless management of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). By leveraging these emerging technologies, our goal is to lead a shift in electronic medical record management. Traffic prediction of wireless networks attracted many researchersand practitioners during the past decades. However, wireless traffic frequentlyexhibits strong nonlinearities and complicated patterns, which makes it challengingto be predicted accurately. Many of the existing approaches forpredicting wireless network traffic are unable to produce accurate predictionsbecause they lack the ability to describe the dynamic spatial-temporalcorrelations of wireless network traffic data. In this paper, we proposed anovel meta-heuristic optimization approach based on fitness grey wolf anddipper throated optimization algorithms for boosting the prediction accuracyof traffic volume. The proposed algorithm is employed to optimize the hyperparametersof long short-term memory (LSTM) network as an efficient timeseries modeling approach which is widely used in sequence prediction *** prove the superiority of the proposed algorithm, four other optimizationalgorithms were employed to optimize LSTM, and the results were *** evaluation results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed approachin predicting the traffic of wireless networks accurately. On the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to emphasize the stability of the proposedapproach.

The prompt spread of COVID-19 has emphasized the necessity for effective and precise diagnostic *** this article,a hybrid approach in terms of datasets as well as the methodology by utilizing a previously unexplored dataset obtained from a private hospital for detecting COVID-19,pneumonia,and normal conditions in chest X-ray images(CXIs)is proposed coupled with Explainable Artificial Intelligence(XAI).Our study leverages less preprocessing with pre-trained cutting-edge models like InceptionV3,VGG16,and VGG19 that excel in the task of feature *** methodology is further enhanced by the inclusion of the t-SNE(t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding)technique for visualizing the extracted image features and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization(CLAHE)to improve images before extraction of ***,an AttentionMechanism is utilized,which helps clarify how the modelmakes decisions,which builds trust in artificial intelligence(AI)*** evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach,both benchmark datasets and a private dataset obtained with permissions from Jinnah PostgraduateMedical Center(JPMC)in Karachi,Pakistan,are *** 12 experiments,VGG19 showcased remarkable performance in the hybrid dataset approach,achieving 100%accuracy in COVID-19 *** classification and 97%in distinguishing normal ***,across all classes,the approach achieved 98%accuracy,demonstrating its efficiency in detecting COVID-19 and differentiating it fromother chest disorders(Pneumonia and healthy)while also providing insights into the decision-making process of the models.
