The load balancing problem is becoming the main technical obstacle in HLA distributed simulation development with the increasing scale of distributed simulation system. The solution of task-federate mapping and federate-processor mapping used to be determined based on experiences and the entity is taken as a task granularity in simulations in order to simplify the model in previous studies. Neither the experience methods nor the previous studies could solve the huge communication overhead or load imbalance problem effectively in large scale distributed simulation. The static load balancing optimization of HLA distributed simulation is divided into task-federate mapping and federate-processor mapping, and a two-stage mapping allocation optimization method is proposed in this paper. Decreasing communication overhead of the system is the main mission in the task-federate mapping stage and the load balancing is studied in the federate allocation stage. The effectiveness of the proposed method, which developed a new direction for static load balancing distribution optimization in distributed simulations, is verified with experiments.

In smart building, services are stored as rules and achieved by rule analyzing and executing. However, the irrational contents of rules and conflicts between rules may bring confusion and maloperation in the rule system. In this paper, we propose a lightweight rule verification and resolution framework to solve the problem which provides content anomaly detection and rule conflict detection. We also provide a quick resolution strategy for rule conflicts based on conflict-scenario-analysis so as to guarantee the rule system performing appropriately.

In this paper we propose a novel target-tracking control scheme for a carangiform robotic fish based on a faithful dynamic model that combines rigid-body dynamics with Lighthill's large-amplitnde elongated-body *** first average the dynamic model under periodic tail-actuation,which results in an average model with tail-beat patterns(bias,frequency,and amplitude) as new control inputs that axe nonlinearly *** introducing two new state variables,the orientation angle error and the distance between the robotic fish body and the target location,we derived the dynamic equations for these variables, which are then used in backstepping-based controller design.A hybrid controller is proposed,where the switching is determined by whether the orientation error is above a threshold *** Lyapunov analysis,we show that the trajectory of the robotic fish will converge to the target point if the given condition is ***,the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is demonstrated through simulation results.

Motivated by the need for efficient control design, in this paper we consider the averaging of dynamics for a tail-actuated robotic fish, based on an experimentally validated dynamic model that incorporates rigid body dynamics and Lighthill's large-amplitude elongated-body theory. We first show that classical averaging theory fails in this case because of the relatively large oscillatory input in the driving terms. On the other hand, while the first-order geometric averaging method for systems with highly oscillatory inputs is able to capture the original time-dependent dynamics, the resulting average model is overly complex for controller design. We propose a novel control-oriented, data-driven averaging approach for robotic fish dynamics, where a scaling function is introduced on top of the classical averaging method. We run extensive simulations for different combinations of tail-beat bias, amplitude, and frequency, and find that the scaling function is constant for the force equations and varies linearly with the tail-beat bias for the moment equation. The validity of the resulting average model has been confirmed in simulation results for open-loop dynamics with new sets of tail-beat parameters, and for closed-loop dynamics when proportional control of the tail-beat bias is used in target tracking.

In this paper, we demonstrate six types of metamaterial absorbers （MMAs） by measuring their absorptivities in an X-band （8 12 GHz） rectangular waveguide. Some of the MMAs have been demonstrated previously by using the free space measurement method, and the others are proposed firstly in this paper. The measured results show that all of the six MMAs exhibit high absorptivities above 98%, which have similar absorbing characteristics to those measured in the free space. The numerically obtained surface current densities for each MMA show that the absorbing mechanism is the same as that under the free space conditions. Such a demonstration method is superior to the conventional free space measurement method due to the small-scale test samples required, the simple measure device, and its low cost. Most importantly, the proposed method opens a way to enable MMAs to be used in microwave applications such as matched terminations.

BP neural network for failure pattern recognition has been used in hydraulic system fault ***, its convergence rate is relatively small and always trapped at the local minima. So a new modified PSO-BP hydraulic system fault diagnosis method was proposed,which combined the respective advantages of particle swarm algorithm and BP algorithm. Firstly, the inertia weight and learning factor of the standard particle swarm algorithm was improved, then BP neural network's weights and thresholds were optimized by modified PSO algorithm. BP network performance was ameliorated. The simulation results showed that this method improved the convergence rate of the BP network, and it could reduce the diagnostic errors. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

This paper investigates a new approach for efficiently calculating nozzle thrust based on a reduced order model formed by the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) technique. The investigation has been done on the nozzle of MK66 rocket motor as a prototype problem. Here, the focus is on the thrust response in or near the design condition. It was found that the proposed method performs exceptionally well even with a few POD basis functions extracted from limited number of flow snapshots. Various interpolation techniques for estimating the dynamic of the reduced order model have been investigated as well. In the current study, the results suggested that there is no significant difference in the thrust estimation from those techniques.

In this paper, we introduce a hybrid optimization algorithm with the Branch-and-Bound Method and the Ant Colony Optimization to solve the multi-chromosomal reversal median problem. We convert the large-scale genome into TSP maps at first. Then we use a hybrid optimization algorithm with the Branch-and-Bound Method and the Ant Colony Optimization to solve the problem. In our improved algorithm, we increase the search speed by implement multi-branch parallel search of ACO. Our extensive experiments on simulated datasets show that this median solver is efficient.

this paper introduces a new approach for visualizing multidimentional weather-direction-related time-series data sets called "3D Spring Model". Spring Model is designed to visualize pattern behind large time-series weather data set and to clearify seasonal structure in the data. In addition, it supports visibility of seasonal shift and wind direction anomaly by direct comparison betweem successive spring cycles. The visualization contained three data types: (1) Weather parameter (such as windrun, temperature or rainfall etc.), (2) Wind directions and (3) time. We mapped the color to the model in such the way that it comply with human perception using color gradient. Level-Of-Detail scheme is applied and adjustable resulting different pattern time focus for users. Spring Model is highly self-contained for accumulative long term data. It is interactive, flexible and user-friendly. Spring Model is very well-suited to high computing power visualization environment. At the end of the paper, the observation of weather pattern in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand using Spring Model was proposed as the case study to present the model vast applications. © 2012 IEEE.
