Since the hard disk drive industries continue to be highly competitive, many factories aim to reduce waste costs by developing their manufacturing process. This article presents the swage process (SP) development to join components: the head gimbal assembly with an actuator arm by explicit dynamics analysis (EDA). First, EDA was employed to determine the total deformation (δ) and equivalent (von Mises) stress (σ) after joining both components in the SP using a traditional lubricant currently used in the factory calculated by the friction coefficients. Then, the EDA results for the traditional lubricant were compared with the experimental results, and an agreement between both results was observed, confirming the EDA's credibility. Next, two additional different lubricants, including a non-lubricant as a control case, were investigated using the EDA. Finally, after comparing the EDA results for all four lubricants, the EDA results showed the proper type of lubricant, which can reduce the δ by 16.40% and σ by 9.40% compared to the traditional lubricant. Accordingly, the research findings were applied as important information for determining the best lubricant for other HDD generations to suit the SP, which can reduce waste costs from the trial and error method. © 2023 IEEE.

This article reports the effect of nozzle pressure ratio (NPR) and shape ratio (SR) on the gas flow of a 122 mm supersonic rocket, a convergent-divergent nozzle, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The NPR is the ratio between the pressure inlet and outlet, while the SR is the ratio between the outlet and throat areas of the nozzle. The CFD results revealed the gas flow, pressure (P), Mach number (M), temperature (T), shock, and jet for some conditions of NPR and SR, consistent with the theory. Furthermore, it was found that M increased with increasing NPR and/or SR. Furthermore, T enhanced with increasing NPR but decreased with increasing SR. This report can be used to further development of this nozzle type suitable for missions. © 2023 IEEE.

The Horn Transducer (HT) is one of the key components in ultrasonic applications, consisting of a front mass, piezoelectric, and back mass parts. Previously, most of the research focused on vibration study of the front mass part based on modal analysis, but the other parts were ignored;therefore, the research results have limitations to actual usage. This research presents the vibration analysis of HT included all parts, based on harmonic response analysis (HRA). First, a conventional HT of 28 kHz, 50 W, 220 V, front mass-radius (R) of 29 mm, and height (H) of 5 mm was investigated for the vibration analysis. Next, proposed designs were also investigated by varying the R as 27 mm - 32 mm, and H as 4 mm - 8 mm. All results were analyzed to find a suitable shape and investigated the designs that affected the vibration. The simulation results revealed that the longitudinal amplitude depends on R and H. In addition, the simulation results were consistent with an experiment and previous work. Finally, the suitable design with R of 29 mm and H of 7 mm provided the optimum vibration at 27,250 Hz. The outcomes of this research were applied to develop a high-performance ultrasonic cleaner. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

SeCoNet: A Heterosexual Contact Network Growth Model for Human Papillomavirus Disease simulation

Human Papillomavirus infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection, and causes serious complications such as cervical cancer in vulnerable female populations in regions such as East Africa. Due to the scarcity of empirical data about sexual relationships in varying demographics, computationally modelling the underlying sexual contact networks is important to understand Human Papillomavirus infection dynamics and prevention strategies. In this work we present SeCoNet, a heterosexual contact network growth model for Human Papillomavirus disease simulation. The growth model consists of three mechanisms that closely imitate real-world relationship forming and discontinuation processes in sexual contact networks. We demonstrate that the networks grown from this model are scale-free, as are the real world sexual contact networks, and we demonstrate that the model can be calibrated to fit different demographic contexts by using a range of parameters. We also undertake disease dynamics analysis of Human Papillomavirus infection using a compartmental epidemic model on the grown networks. The presented SeCoNet growth model is useful to computational epidemiologists who study sexually transmitted infections in general and Human Papillomavirus infection in particular. This article reports a transient thermal-electric analysis (TEA), a simulation of a Peltier cooling plate (PCP) aimed to develop into a mini refrigerator soon. This conventional PCP includes 110 Peltier cells, which are a series of connecting cells, and two sandwiched ceramic plates. First, the experiment measured the PCP's applied current (I) and temperature (T) under the desired conditions. Then, the TEA was employed to determine the I and T of the PCP, which were compared with the experimental results. As expected, the comparison shows the consistency between the simulation and experimental results, validating the credibility of the methodology and simulation results. The simulation results revealed that the temperature difference $(\Delta T)$ between the two sandwiched ceramic plates increased with the increase of I and the number of cells, as expected. Last, the proposed model of PCP, I of 500 mA, 126 Peltier cells, and reducing the gap between cells, could generate T of $-2.3761^{\circ}C$ on the cool ceramic plate lower than the conventional model of $-1.6495{ }^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ , about 44% reduction at the same I, suitable for developing the mini refrigerator. The novel of this article is the practical methodology of using transient TEA to help design the PCP for specific purposes.

A microwave kiln, made of silicon carbide and ceramic fiber, commonly employs in a household glassware production process. In this process, when the kiln was in a microwave oven, a microwave transmitted to the kiln generating a high temperature to fuse the glass inside. This article presents a thermal simulation to investigate the temperature inside the kiln based on multiphysics consisting of a high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The multiphysics results revealed the temperature inside the kiln in a transient state, consistent with the experimental results. As expected, the temperature increased with the increasing time of the process. Significantly, the silicon carbide had higher temperatures than the ceramic fiber;therefore, silicon carbide is a crucial material for generating heat inside the kiln. In addition, the temperature-increasing rate (TIR) inside the kiln depended on the kiln's thickness (Th). As a result, the thinner Th provided better TIR. The research findings can be applied to develop a high-efficacy household glassware production process. © 2023 IEEE.

This article reports the development of a 0.27 L small ultrasonic cleaning bath (SUCB) with a 45 kHz single transducer to enhance cleaning efficacy based on harmonic response analysis (HRA). First, the HRA results revealed the uneven acoustic pressure inside the SUCB emerged from the transducer, depending on the applied voltage. As expected, the higher the applied voltage, the greater the acoustic pressure, and away from the transducer, the acoustic pressure decreased, consistent with the foil corrosion test, confirming the research methodology's credibility. Then, the transducer has been redesigned to develop the SUCB. Last, using the HRA, the simulation results indicated that the redesigned transduce, adding front and back masses like a horn shape, enhanced the acoustic pressure and helped to increase cleaning efficacy compared to the conventional SUCB. The findings were applied to develop a new generation of the SUCB. This article presents a step-by-step HRA technique that can be practically used in manufacturing design.
