Empirical mode decomposition of near-infrared spectroscopy signals for predicting oil content in palm fruits

Oil content estimation in palm fruits is a precious property that significantly impacts oil palm production,starting from the upstream and *** content can be used to monitor the progress of the oil palm fresh fruit bunch(FFB)and be applied to identify product *** on the near-infrared(NIR)signals,this study proposes an empirical mode decomposition(EMD)technique to decompose signals and predict the oil content of palm ***,350 palm fruits with Tenera varieties(Elaeis guineensis ***),at various ages of maturity,were harvested from the Cikabayan Oil Palm Plantation(IPB University,Indonesia).Second,each sample was sent directly to the laboratory for NIR signal measurements and oil content ***,the EMD analysis and arti-ficial neural network(ANN)were employed to correlate the NIR signals and oil ***,a robust EMD-ANN model is generated by optimizing the lowest possible *** on performance evaluation,the proposed technique can predict oil content with a coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.933±0.015 and a root mean squared error(RMSE)of 1.446±*** results demonstrate that the model has a good predictive capacity and has the potential to predict the oil content of palm fruits directly,without neither solvents nor reagents,which makes it environmentally ***,the proposed technique has a promising potential to be applied in the oil palm *** like this will lead to the effective and efficient management of oil palm production.

Current and future trends in seismic acquisition point towards higher geophone densities (forecasted to be 1M nodes per survey). The geophones’ high operating precision and a sampling rate of a few milliseconds leads to a huge aggregate data rate in the geophone array. To handle this large data rate a hierarchy of multiplexed lines (including fiber optic cables) are used, resulting in substantial deployment costs. This work considers wireless geophone networks to mitigate these costs. Because of limited bandwidth of the wireless medium, compression of acquired data is needed. We assess lossy source coding (signal compression) performance using a rate-distortion tradeoff based on a physical model of the earth. The distortion criterion used is mean squared error. The earth’s physical model considered here consists of a randomly layered subsurface structure where the acoustic impedance of the earth varies as a homogeneous spatial random process. The rate distortion performance is assessed in terms of the parameters of this physical model e.g., the speed of sound underground and correlation length of acoustic impedance process. In comparison with previous work, this paper derives a closed form expression for the autocorrelation function for the reflection process for the 3D subsurface volume. We also show from the resulting rate-distortion curves that the compression performance improves both as the coding bock length increases and as the correlation length of the medium properties increases. The rate-distortion surface as a function of normalized MSE and sound of speed underground is also computed and validated through extensive simulations. © ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2025.

A traditional courier service provider in the Philippines operating region-wide, is commended to innovate their business process by leveraging technologies in response to digital civilization. A courier system curated to meet the business needs of the courier service provider is developed in this study. The Scrum methodology was followed in developing the system. It incorporates descriptive analytics, forecasting and recommendation analytics to assist the top-level management in decision making. Notably, the FastAPI framework was used to develop the recommender model and implement time series forecasting using ARIMA. The designed system was evaluated by 66 stakeholders, it gained a mean average score of 4.43, indicating that user expectations towards the system's quality are highly accepted. © 2024 IEEE.

Vigenère encryption algorithm is a classical cryptographic algorithm featuring a polyalphabetic stream cipher, which as numerous limitations pertaining to finding the size and length of the encryption key. This study presents the process of enhancing the Vigenère algorithm using 6S-substitution and 2S-transposition techniques with the novelty of accommodating a 103-character set based on the selected ASCII and Unicode characters. It adopts the three-security metrics such as the degree of diffusion, degree of confusion, and integrity check for measuring the security level. Experiment results showed that the enhanced Vigenère algorithm produced more secure ciphertexts. Using PHP, the proponents tested and simulated ten (10) data sets to ensure the consistency of the results at each security level. The results exhibited a vigorous outcome starting the degree of diffusion output, the original Vigenère yields 1.8% while the enhanced Vigenère obtains 68.75% with an increase of 66.95%. Secondly, the result in the degree of confusion test, the former algorithm results in 1.88%, on the other hand, the latter obtains 53.39% with an increase of 51.51%. In the integrity check, the former gets 2.42% while the latter advances to 57.11%, increasing 54.69%. Thus, it is evident that the test result for the Enhanced Vigenère has a higher percentage than the original Vigenère in providing better security in the ciphertext and improving the overall encryption and decryption processes. © 2024 IEEE.

The main objective of this article is to compare user comments from 4 Fintech applications in Indonesia using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) algorithm. This research is word processing research carried out using text mining. The statistical population is comments from Fintech users Ovo, Dana, LinkAja, and Doku, with data taken from May 2022-May 2023. LDA and the Python programming language are applied to analyze the data and implement text mining algorithms from topic modeling. Each application group has different topic coherence, each application group is analyzed and 4 large categories are found, namely system convenience, system problems, customer service (CS) problems, and service ease. The results of text mining and processing using Coherence and Latent Dirichlet allocation can be used to identify hidden topics and be used as input for system improvements © 2023 IEEE.

With the advancement of technology and the development of IT, such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and optimization theory have triggered revolutions in many fields. Along with the massive digital dataset, it also gives the reform motivation to promote traditional teaching and learning. How to find the appropriate information that students are interested, valuable, and easy to be understood in the vast amount of information, and bring their creative ability, is still a difficult thing. A Recommender System (RS) for e-learning based on learners’ Science Knowledge (SK) is a powerful tool to solve such problems, which can guarantee the quality and efficiency of the science teaching and learning in the international context. It is one of science research directions with great research value. This paper discusses the overall framework design of a wisdom RS for conceptual learning (CL) in science, which analysis models are based on SK of the students, using a big data software platform. The research sample is made of totally 621 junior students who take the subject of an introductory in science concepts (SC) in computer studies of program, Macao Polytechnic Institution, from 2006 to 2021 academic year. According to the students’ SK, their CL methods have been classified into six types of thinking modes, which has three different corresponding understanding levels for each mode. The appropriate recommended materials to the students who are interested in the information provided, such as, text-based teaching materials, computer assisted materials, simulation tools and game activities, can increases the motivations of the students to learn, considered their different characteristics and understanding. The performance of this RS has been tracked over a period of 16 years, which can effectively improve the personalized teaching quality in the area of computer science, since it may be useful in heightening students’ motivation and interest in CL in science. The experiment was carried out by growing BaTiO3 (Undoped or Li-doped) on p-type Si(1 0 0) substrates using the Chemical Solution Deposition (CSD) method and spin coating at a rotational speed of 3000 rpm for 60 s, followed by heating at 850 °C. The characterization results show that the bandgap energy value of the thin film due to lithium doping reduces the bandgap energy value. This is presumably because the donor atom added to a semiconductor causes the allowable energy level to be slightly below the conduction band. The presence of this new band causes the thin film bandgap energy to decrease with a five-valent tantalum dip. The morphological properties showed that the BaTiO3/Si(1 0 0) thin film particles in the deposited lithium had a fairly homogeneous grain. With the addition of lithium acetate as a binder into barium titanate, the grain size is getting smaller because it is suspected that the lithium-ion radius is smaller than the barium-ion radius. Measurement of I-V on the thin film shows that the output voltage value increases with more light intensity hitting the surface of the thin film. The greater the light intensity, the greater the energy of the photons, so the electrons are easier to jump. The three things above (both electrical and morphological properties) conclude that the thin films grown have the potential for photovoltaics. © 2023

Full-marathon and Half-marathon distances are categorized as road running. Full-marathon running is becoming increasingly popular, and Half-marathon is increasing worldwide in both sexes and all age groups. Some aspects might relate to Full-marathon and Half-marathon running performance during training and races. Technology also plays an essential role in supporting runners and running races. Technology like artificial intelligence (AI) now supports the running athlete, not only predicting performance and results. It can also be used later to help the coach generate training programs for the athlete. This research aimed to find many aspects of marathons and performance and analyze them to see if artificial intelligence could later support them. It used secondary data and a systematic literature review proposed by Kitchenham. Out of the 58 articles, 21 of them (36.21%) received a score of 1 from Q1. Additionally, 19 articles (32.76%) received a score of 1 from both Q2 and Q3. Among the 58 articles, 9 (15.52%) received a total score of 3, with all three Q1, Q2, and Q3 scores being 1. This indicates that artificial intelligence will likely support the content of these nine articles. Several factors were also discovered to be connected to marathons and athletic performance. These findings suggested that additional investigation into marathons and performance, later backed by artificial intelligence, remained pertinent and essential. © 2024 IEEE.

The question of the extent to which neutral States are allowed to share (cyber-enabled) data during international armed conflict has rarely been addressed by governments and academia. There are two reasons for this gap: first, States are traditionally reluctant to publicly discuss or internationally regulate sharing of information with partners. Second, the law of neutrality has become a niche discipline in the past years when major international armed conflicts (IAC) were often considered to be passé. However, in today’s digitalized societies, information has acquired a value similar to physical goods. Supporting a belligerent with data may therefore be just as problematic from a neutrality perspective as delivering weapons. This paper discusses the important implications of the law of neutrality for neutral States to share data obtained in cyberspace. After introducing a neutrality framework that takes contemporary State practice into account, I illustrate that the discussions on neutrality in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war are neither new nor unaddressed. A short case study will outline the inherent tensions between a neutral State’s impartiality and its preventive obligations. Weighing these two factors in the context of an interconnected, cyber-driven security landscape, I argue that during an IAC, a neutral has the ability, but not the obligation, to share certain information with selected partners. However, this does not include militarily actionable data, as such sharing would violate the neutral State’s fundamental impartiality obligations.

People increasingly prioritize a balanced diet to enhance well-being, yet making informed dietary choices remains challenging amidst the abundance of options. To address this, we developed a meal image recognition and healthy meal combination recommender system, integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI). Convolutional neural networks were used for precise meal image recognition to identify diverse food items. The generative AI-augmented recommendation engine offers personalized meal suggestions aligned with nutritional goals and dietary preferences, utilizing a nutrition knowledge base to ensure overall well-being. The system's feasibility was validated, illustrating its excellence in meal recognition accuracy, recommendation diversity, and user engagement. By integrating generative AI, the system shows its potential to enhance dietary recommendations and public health. © 2024 IEEE.
