In this paper, we deal with the charging scheduling optimization problem of electric vehicle using Stackelberg game. Stackelberg game is one of game theory classified as hierarchical, repeating, and non-cooperative game. The charging station determines the price to maximize its own profit from selling energy and each EV determines the energy demand to maximize the charge benefit by competing with other EVs. At this time, we guarantee that Nash equilibrium exists within the EV group. Finally, using numerical simulation, we show that the game reaches an Stackelberg equilibrium.

He has published more than 20 articles in reputed international journals has authored two books written articles and columns for newspapers and is quoted on issues related to leadership and marketing by various media platforms. His research work comprises construction of brand personality scale for media aesthetics and phenomenological design. His recent publications are on philosophy of a photograph hermeneutic reality of product and on philosophy of intimate spaces. R. Dhanuskodi has nearly 40 years of R&D experience at BHEL India in technical areas applicable for thermal power plants. He is a life member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and The Combustion Institute. He has won two BHEL’s Excel awards under the best author category for technical papers. He has visited France Netherlands and Germany under Indo-Europe Clean Coal Development Program. He has guided 42 UG PG and PhD project works. He holds 11 patents 40 copyrights and 2 design registrations. He has presented papers in 20 conferences and published in 10 national and international journals. R. Kaliappan completed his bachelors in electrical and electronics engineering and Masters in Computer Science. He has 36 years of research experience in different fields of power generation and power plant subsystems such as heat transfer studies on boiler circulation efficiency improvements of boiler subsystems product improvements/ enhancements and setting up test facilities for research studies. He has published a number of technical papers on MHD power generation and heat transfer studies in various national and international journals. This paper presents a new optimal power flow (OPF) formulation based on loadability maximization for islanded converter-dominated AC/DC hybrid microgrids. Hybridizing AC and DC at the distribution level brings the merits of AC and DC together as a valuable future layout for AC and DC technologies. Nevertheless, most recent AC/DC distributed resources and loads are converter-based resulting in low inertia. Further, the future distribution systems will allow investors and customers to plug their energy resources in and out. Such systems with a high penetration of converters and plug-and-play capability will have their own operational philosophy. During islanding in particular, loadability maximization is more pronounced due to the limited resources and being susceptible to any sudden and slow load/supply variations. Thus, the target of the system operator might be to increase the system steady-state stability margin by running OPF. In this work, the AC/DC OPF problem is formulated as a nonlinear constrained optimization problem, and solved by Interior Point method. The newly formulated OPF algorithm is tested on a modified 38-bus AC/DC hybrid microgrid. The developed AC/DC OPF can be a powerful tool for system planners and operators to explore the technical and economic challenges related to hybridizing the AC distribution systems. © 2017 IEEE.

With advancements in the science of detection and attribution studies, the influence of climate change over many events has now been quantified. Because of the rapidly increasing temperatures, vulnerable populations (adults older than 65 years, and children younger than one year of age) were exposed to 3·7 billion more heatwave days in 2021 than annually in 1986–2005 (indicator 1.1.2), and heat-related deaths increased by 68% between 2000–04 and 2017–21 (indicator 1.1.5), a death toll that was significantly exacerbated by the confluence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the local cooling and overall health benefits of urban greenspaces, only 277 (27%) of 1038 global urban centres were at least moderately green in 2021 (indicator 2.2.3), and the number of households with air conditioning increased by 66% from 2000 to 2020, a maladaptive response that worsens the energy crisis and further increases urban heat, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. The formation of vortices in the surrounding fluid is used as one of the indicators for measuring the efficiency of aerodynamic system designs. Automated vortex detection methods are needed to facilitate the exploration of large scale turbulent fluid flow simulations. Following the success of deep learning applications and algorithms, this paper details a data driven approach for detecting vortices using recurrent neural networks (RNNs). Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) are the RNN architectures utilized in this paper due to their ability to support long term memory. The method is able to identify if a data point belongs a vortex or not in different time frames by simply using its pressure, density and velocity attributes. The efficacy of the proposed approach is demonstrated on a 3D case of an unsteady flow around a cylinder. The experimental results indicates that the RNNs can detect vortices effectively without relying on feature engineering like in traditional machine learning methods. Furthermore, it is able to obtain improved performance in identifying vortices and capturing hidden patterns due to their ability to remember information over time. The prime advantage of this approach is that the vortices can be predicted rapidly. Hence, RNN has the potential to be used as a predictive tool in vortex detection. © 2018, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. All rights reserved.

In this study, we consider how the choice of DNA circuit elements influences the robustness of DNA feedback regulator, where there are two possible candidates for the amplifier as a gain element in the feedback circuit. We propose that the amplifier that is designed with irreversible reactions in a part of reaction scheme is more robust than the other that are designed with only reversible reactions against the harmful leak reaction between fuel strands.

Towards collaborative conceptual exploration

In domains with high knowledge distribution a natural objective is to create principle foundations for collaborative interactive learning environments. We present a first mathematical characterization of a collaborative learning group, a consortium, based on closure systems of attribute sets and the well-known attribute exploration algorithm from formal concept analysis. To this end, we introduce (weak) local experts for subdomains of a given knowledge domain. These entities are able to refute and potentially accept a given (implicational) query for some closure system that is a restriction of the whole domain. On this we build up a consortial expert and show first insights about the ability of such an expert to answer queries. Furthermore, we depict techniques on how to cope with falsely accepted implications and on combining counterexamples. Using notions from combinatorial design theory we further expand those insights as far as providing first results on the decidability problem if a given consortium is able to explore some target domain. Processing of audio-tactile multisensory stimuli presented within the space immediately surrounding our body, i.e., peripersonal space (PPS), is known to be facilitated and the boundaries of the PPS extended by body action such as walking. However, it is unclear whether the boundaries change when a sensation of walking is induced with no physical body motion. Here, we presented several vibration patterns on the soles of the feet of seated participants to evoke a sensation of walking and examined the change in reaction times to detect a vibrotactile stimulus on the chest while listening to a looming sound approaching the body, which was taken as a behavioral proxy for the PPS boundary. Results revealed that a cyclic vibration consisting of lowpass-filtered walking sounds presented at the soles that clearly evoked a sensation of walking decreased the reaction times, indicating that the PPS boundary was expanded forward by inducing a sensation of walking. © 2017 IEEE.
