The AC-DC Energy Nodes (ADENs) concept offers a transformative approach to modernizing power grids, particularly in the context of supergrids. By centralizing power flows from diverse renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind farms, ADENs enable efficient long-distance power transmission through HVDC technology. This design enhances the balance of supply and demand across regions and countries, significantly improving grid stability and resilience. However, the implementation of ADENs presents substantial technical, regulatory, and cybersecurity challenges. This study delves into these challenges while also addressing the geopolitical complexities of transnational connections, underscoring the critical importance of policy alignment for successful deployment.

Social networking sites have come into demand as a way of sharing ideas and opinions with other people. But unfortunately, people tend to misuse social media to write nasty comments. Victims' lives might be negatively impacted by behaviours that are abusive and humiliating. Social networks give people a great tool to share information on ideas on multiple topics and opinions. However, these platforms are often abused to announce toxic and offensive comments, which eventually negatively affect victims and demographics. This study offers a thorough method for identifying hate speech (HS) on social media by utilising cutting-edge ML algorithms. A publicly available Twitter dataset containing 159,571 tweets classified into six categories, including toxic and identity hatred, was utilised. The methodology comprises data collection, conditioning, and categorisation that employs BiLSTM, which is particularly appropriate for the tasks demanding contextual sensitivity. These operations include symbol removing, stemming and stop-word eliminating, feature extraction using TF-IDF, and using the Bag-of-Words model. For classification of the data between hate and non-hate, the dataset is then split into training and testing datasets and the BiLSTM model used to provide classifications for the text. The evaluation of the BiLSTM model demonstrates superior performance, achieving an accuracy86%, a precision90%, a recall86%, and an F1-score88% • A comparison between the model and other models such as SVM and CNN reveals the strength of the BiLSTM in contextual classification tasks. The results demonstrate that BiLSTM can tackle problems with hate speech detection, providing a strong answer to the problem of harmful content on social media and helping to make the internet a better place for everyone. © 2025 IEEE.

Business intelligence (BI) encompasses the tools and uses to gather, combine, examine, and display data about a specific firm. Using historical and current efficiency comparisons, these structures assist in formulating plans and choices to achieve better outcomes in the future. Additionally, it helps firms determine which business issues and industry trends require attention. It has several benefits, such as increasing responsibility and efficiency, but it carries some disadvantages, such as being expensive, complicated, and time-consuming to adopt. Using big data-driven approaches to optimize talent recruitment is essential for improved decisions in the cutthroat world of BI. The efficacy of many machine learning algorithms to increase recruiting performance and accuracy is compared in this investigation. For optimizing, cross-validating, and hyperparameter modification were employed. The Random Forest (RF) algorithm has the greatest accuracy (92.9%), trailed by the Gradient Boosting Classifying system (92.6%) and the neural network (NNs) models (92.7%). These findings imply that sophisticated ML algorithms, in particular RF and NN, can greatly improve BI platforms' hiring procedures. Recruiters can benefit from this research's insightful recommendations for incorporating advanced ML methods into talent recruitment plans. © 2025 IEEE.

Prior Knowledge-Driven Hybrid Prompter Learning for RGB-Event Tracking

Event data can asynchronously capture variations in light intensity, thereby implicitly providing valuable complementary cues for RGB-Event tracking. Existing methods typically employ a direct interaction mechanism to fuse RGB and event data. However, due to differences in imaging mechanisms, the representational disparity between these two data types is not fixed, which can lead to tracking failures in certain challenging scenarios. To address this issue, we propose a novel prior knowledge-driven hybrid prompter learning framework for RGB-Event tracking. Specifically, we develop a frame-event hybrid prompter that leverages prior tracking knowledge from the foundation model as intermediate modal support to mitigate the heterogeneity between RGB and event data. By leveraging its rich prior tracking knowledge, the intermediate modal reduces the gap between the dense RGB and sparse event data interactions, effectively guiding complementary learning between modalities. Meanwhile, to mitigate the internal learning disparities between the lightweight hybrid prompter and the deep transformer model, we introduce a pseudo-prompt learning strategy that lies between full fine-tuning and partial fine-tuning. This strategy adopts a divide-and-conquer approach to assign different learning rates to modules with distinct functions, effectively reducing the dominant influence of RGB information in complex scenarios. Extensive experiments conducted on two public RGB-Event tracking datasets show that the proposed HPL outperforms state-of-the-art tracking methods, achieving exceptional performance. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

When developing predictive models over a dataset, the model is globally optimized across the entire feature space to learn a decision boundary. However, when unobservable variables—which cannot be measured or estimated—interact with the observable variables, this can negatively impact the optimization applied to the decision boundary since the data samples introduced by unobservable variables may have little to no association with the applied global optimization. This, consequently, penalizes the entire decision boundary and model performance. This paper examines some of the detrimental effects of unobservable variables, particularly their role in creating new modes in the distribution of observable variables and reducing the separ ability of class distributions. Such challenges result in unrepresentative training data, complex skewedor warped decision boundaries, and decreased accuracy of model predictions, particularly for interpretable models like logistic regression and decision trees. Through two illustrative case examples, we highlight the need to address the challenges imposed by unobservable variables. We propose a strategy to mitigate these challenges by creating local regions with in the feature space through partitioning. This enables the optimization of local models with inthe regions to overcome the impact of un observ ability and complex decision boundaries indifferent feature space localities. Research into a more sophisticated partitioning strategy and where the partition should be relative to the sample of interest is left as future work. Through the analysis of the impact of un observability and the development of a partitioning method, we demonstrate the clear need for a partitioning strategy that integrates knowledge from multiple local models to estimate risk factors using information fusion. Accurate early diagnosis is crucial in addressing Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a chronic retinal disease that is a leading cause of blindness among the elderly. Medical imaging, particularly fundus imaging, is essential in facilitating timely detection and intervention. Due to the variability in image sizes within our dataset, this paper introduces the SABiT-MNet model, which effectively discriminates between healthy retinas, dry AMD, and wet AMD. The model integrates a novel scale-adaptive (SA) approach by combining an autoencoder with Big Transfer (BiT) as its backbone. Unlike traditional resizing methods, which often result in the loss of critical diagnostic information, the SA model dynamically adjusts to varying image sizes, preserving key retinal features essential for accurate diagnosis. The primary aim of this architecture is to retain crucial details in fundus images to ensure precise classification. In this study, 648 subjects were recruited through the Comparisons of AMD Treatments Trials study group, sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed SABiT-MNet model outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, including transformer-based models, achieving superior diagnostic accuracy. The model recorded performance metrics of 94% accuracy, 97% sensitivity, and 93.94% specificity. To further validate the robustness of the system, we tested it on the public ODiR dataset, where it achieved similarly promising results, confirming the effectiveness of our approach.

Device connectivity has been redefined by the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, enabling diverse applications in areas such as smart cities, smart homes, and healthcare. These applications produce massive amounts of data, making it a significant challenge to offload tasks to cloud servers. However, the physical distance between devices often leads to latency issues for IoT systems, impacting time-sensitive applications. Fog computing tackles this issue by processing data closer to IoT devices. However, a high user density can strain the capacity of a macro base station, potentially leading to congestion. Drone Base Stations (DBSs) provide a flexible solution by acting as mobile relays to reduce latency and traffic burden. To address this issue, this work proposes a drone-assisted load distribution strategy in IoT networks. In our proposed approach, we deploy DBS efficiently using a greedy optimization technique. However, after the deployment of DBS, an optimal base station assignment framework dynamically connects user equipment to the most suitable base station, helping to minimize latency and enhance network performance. This dual-phase approach provides a scalable and practical solution for realtime IoT applications. Through extensive simulations, ensures that our proposed approach achieves a more balanced assignment compared to baseline algorithms.

Myocardial strain imaging provides a valuable tool for detecting subclinical left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and adding prognostic value in assessing various types of heart disease. Recent studies have utilized highly accurate strain-dedicated techniques, such as displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE), to train a deep learning (DL) framework to predict the myocardial displacements/deformations from routine cine balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) images. However, these methods have shown limited performance in capturing the large rotational motion of the myocardium associated with twist and torsion over time, which are important aspects of myocardial mechanics. To address this gap, this paper introduces a novel DENSE-guided DL network that explicitly accounts for large rotational motion to further improve strain analysis of standard cine bSSFP images. Specifically, our proposed network includes two key components: (i) a time-series rotation estimation network employing a 3D convolutional encoder-decoder architecture to model the large rotational dynamics of the LV myocardium over time, and (ii) a radial motion prediction network based on deformable image registration. The output of these two sub-networks was integrated and refined through a fusion network to predict the final myocardial displacements, supervised by DENSE ground truth. Experimental results show that our method improves the accuracy of myocardial strain with effectively captured large rotations.

Physical rehabilitation is crucial in healthcare, facilitating recovery from injuries or illnesses and improving overall health. However, a notable global challenge stems from the shortage of professional physiotherapists, particularly acute in some developing countries, where the ratio can be as low as one physiotherapist per 100,000 individuals. To address these challenges and elevate patient care, the field of physical rehabilitation is progressively integrating computer Vision and Human Activity Recognition (HAR) techniques. Numerous research efforts aim to explore methodologies that assist in rehabilitation exercises and evaluate patient movements, which is crucial as incorrect exercises can potentially worsen conditions. This study investigates applying various deep-learning models for classifying exercises using the benchmark KIMORE and UI-PRMD datasets. Employing Bi-LSTM, LSTM, CNN, and CNN-LSTM, alongside a Random Search for architectural design and Hyper-parameter tuning, our investigation reveals the (CNN) model as the top performer. After applying cross-validation, the technique achieves remarkable mean testing accuracy rates of 93.08% on the KIMORE dataset and 99.7% on the UI-PRMD dataset. This marks a slight improvement of 0.75% and 0.1%, respectively, compared to previous techniques. In addition, expanding beyond exercise classification, this study explores the KIMORE dataset’s utility for disease identification, where the (CNN) model consistently demonstrates an outstanding accuracy of 89.87%, indicating its promising role in both exercises and disease identification within the context of physical rehabilitation. © The Author(s) 2024.

The increasing deployment of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) require computational support and coverage in applications such as maritime search and rescue. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can offer low-cost, flexible aerial services, and ground stations (GSs) can provide powerful supports, which can cooperate to help the USVs in complex scenarios. However, the collaboration between UAVs and GSs for USVs faces challenges of task uncertainties, USVs trajectory uncertainties, heterogeneities, and limited computational resources. To address these issues, we propose a cooperative UAV and GS based robust multi-access edge computing framework to assist USVs in completing computational tasks. Specifically, we formulate the optimization problem of joint task offloading and UAV trajectory to minimize the total execution time, which is in the form of mixed integer nonlinear programming and NP-hard to tackle. Therefore, we propose the algorithm of generative artificial intelligence-enhanced heterogeneous agent proximal policy optimization (GAI-HAPPO). The proposed algorithm integrates GAI models to enhance the actor network ability to model complex environments and extract high-level features, thereby allowing the algorithm to predict uncertainties and adapt to dynamic conditions. Additionally, GAI stabilizes the critic network, addressing the instability of multi-agent reinforcement learning approaches. Finally, extensive simulations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing benchmark methods, thus highlighting the potentials in tackling intricate, cross-domain issues in the considered scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.
