Fused tapered Fan-in/Fan-out devices of few-mode multi-core fiber have received attentions in recent ten years. Most devices are based on special designed fibers which are called “bridge fiber”. A low insertion loss and low-cost Fan-in/Fan-out device using OM3 fiber as the bridge fiber is fabricated and demonstrated in this paper. The insertion losses of LPOl, LPlla, LPllb, and LP2la are less than 1dB, and the insertion loss of LP2lb and LP02 are 2.02dB and 2.2dB.

High power continuous-wave ytterbium-doped fiber lasers have unique advantages such as high electro-optical efficiency, excellent beam quality and good thermal management, and are widely used in industrial materials processing and scientific research. However, multi-kW $(\geqslant$ 10kW) high-power fiber lasers has encountered numerous technology challenges in double-cladding fibers. In this work, we designed and fabricated a triple-cladding ytterbium doped fiber with large core diameter by using Modified Chemical Vapor deposition (MCVd) combined with all-gas-phase doping method. An excellent laser performance could be demonstrated for such a fiber with an output power of more than 10 kW and a slope efficiency of 82%, no Transverse Mode instability (TMI) is observed. Long-term laser stability at 12 kW-level was carried out in a master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) laser system for 500 hours with power degradation less than 1%, meanwhile a stimulated raman scattering (SrS) suppression ratio that is larger than 45dB was obtained.

Selective adsorption of phosphorus (P) from the acidic leachate of sludge-incinerated ash (SIA) becomes more attractive due to avoiding removing heavy metals. Especially, layered double hydroxides (LdHs) as an anion adsorbent could be applied into this area owing to their good capacity on P-adsorption and low cost on preparation. Interestingly, SIA contains more aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe) needed to be removed prior to P-recovery, and removed Al and Fe could be utilized to synthesize LdHs, like Mg/Al-LdH and Mg/Fe-LdH. With this study, Mg/Al-LdH-r and Mg/Fe-LdH-r were economically synthesized with Al and Fe removed from SIA, which were similar in their chemical structures to commercial LdHs. The synthesized LdHs had a high P-adsorption capacity, up to 95.0%. "NaOH + desalinated brine" as a new desorption solution could achieve a desorption ratio at about 80%, which could reduce the liquid-solid ratio by at least 60%, greatly decreasing the desorption cost. Pot trials demonstrated that the desorbed and precipitated Ca-P could promote the growth of maize as well as a commercial P-fertilizer. Furthermore, the adsorbed phosphate by LdHs could be directly used as a slow-released P-fertilizer and also improve the pH value of acidic soil, completely deleting the desorption process. © 2023, The Authors. For operational effectiveness and cost savings, electric vehicle (EV) fleets must receive proper maintenance. However, reactive repairs and scheduled inspections are frequently the mainstays of traditional maintenance methods, which raises costs and results in more downtime. The predictive maintenance solution for electric vehicle fleets that the research proposes uses artificial intelligence (AI) and real-time data analysis to predict possible faults. The proposed system gathers and analyzes data from different car components to predict maintenance needs ahead of time by integrating IoT devices and machine learning techniques. Comparing the proposed system with existing systems, the study shows that it performs better in terms of accuracy (9 0%), lower rates of false positives (10) and negatives (5), and improved performance metrics (accuracy: 90%, precision: 88%, recall: 85%, F1-score: 86%). The proposed system presents a viable way to improve fleet management in electric vehicle operations, ensuring higher uptime, sustainability, and dependability. Higher cross-validation findings (average accuracy: 88%, average F1-score: 85% and improved maintenance effectiveness further support the claim.

With the rapid increase in renewable energy installation nodes and the substantial enhancement of switching frequencies in the new power system, this paper proposes a design scheme for a cloud simulation software that employs the Latency Insertion Method (LIM) to decompose large-scale new power system models into several subsystems, enabling multi-platform integrated parallel computing. The self-developed platform meets the demands of ultra-large simulation scales, ultra-small simulation time steps, and massive simulation computations in power systems. Experimental results demonstrate that the accelerated simulation technology, which integrates model segmentation using LIM with multi-core parallel execution, can enhance the simulation speed by up to 858 times while maintaining simulation accuracy. This significantly improves simulation efficiency and is suitable for large-scale simulations of new power systems.

Particle contamination is a common contributing factor for ignition in oxygen service. Metallic particle ignition and combustion in pressurized gaseous oxygen have been investigated by PIMM laboratory (French National Centre for Scientific research) and Air Liquide over the past 3 years. Metallic particles are ignited by a laser promoter, and a fast camera calibrated as an optical pyrometer is used to monitor ignition and combustion propagation. Typical outputs of the test are the ignition characteristics of particles (minimum ignition energy, or MIE, and ignition temperature), the combustion characteristics (temperature achieved during combustion, heat of combustion released by the combustion of particles and transferred to the underlying surface), and the consequences for the underlying metallic wall that is in contact with the burning particles (heat-affected depth, loss of confinement and extension of combustion propagation). These results are valuable inputs for assessing oxygen fire risk. The purpose of this paper is to present the abovementioned ignition and combustion behaviors of metallic particles in static gaseous oxygen at several pressure levels. Particle test parameters are mass, thickness of the particle layer, and chemical composition (pure iron, oxidized iron, SS316L, Inconel 625, and actual particles collected from industrial operations). Particles are deposited on metallic supports (copper, SS316L, Inconel 625) and ignited by low-power laser irradiation. The heat transfer to the underlying metallic support is determined for the support made of copper. The impact of particles burning on the support is illustrated for supports made of Inconel 625 exposed to SS316L particles and for supports made of SS316L and exposed to pure iron particles. To make coal-fired power generation more environmentally friendly,China has initiated a series of ultra-low emission ret-rofits to the air pollution control(APC)system of the existing power *** this study,a life cycle assessment(LCA)is conducted to analyze the environmental net benefits for the typical ultra-low emission retrofit of a 1000 MW power *** key processes,substances,and APC devices are verified and *** results confirm that the retrofit effectively decreases the environmental stress of acidification potential(AP),eutrophication potential(EP),and photochemical ozone creation potential(POCP)by 69%-79%,which can be attributed to significantly reduced emissions at the ***,the retrofit has also increased other impact categories by 24%-79%,primarily due to the consumption of additional elec-tricity and *** retrofit of selective catalytic reduction,electrostatic precipitator(ESP),and wet limestone flue gas desulfurization devices has a dominant effect on the impacts of EP,human toxicity potential(HTP),and AP.A newly installed wet ESP shows some environmental benefits(only for AP),but causes considerable burdens,in particular for the investigated impact categories global warming potential(GWP),marine aquatic ecotoxicity(MAETP),and abiotic depletion fossil(AdP fossil).The obtained results indicate that the hidden environmental consequences,which are associated with the production of energy and materials,need to be examined more comprehensively to inform the development of ultra-low emission technologies and strategies effectively.

The grid-forming battery energy storage system (BESS) plays important role in constructing new energy system. This paper presents a frequency domain modal-based stability analysis of virtual synchronous generator (VSG) controlled BESS. Both ac and dc side interactive dynamics of the grid-tied inverter system are considered, by establishing a hybrid ac/dc impedance network. Then, the frequency domain modal analysis (FMA) method for networked converter systems is applied to the BESS system, covering the eigen-sensitivity from the node level to parameter level. Using this method, key parameters that influence the BESS system’s weakly/negative damping modes most can be better analyzed and identified. The analysis results are validated via the time-domain simulations.

Background:It is well known that laparoscopic liver surgery can offer advantages over open liver surgery in selected ***,what type of procedures can benefit most from a laparoscopic approach has been investigated poorly thus *** aim of this study is thus to define the extent of advantages of laparoscopic over open liver surgery for lesions in the anterolateral(AL)and posterosuperior(PS)***:In this international multicentre retrospective cohort study,laparoscopic and open minor liver resections for lesions in the AL and PS segments were compared after propensity score *** differential benefit of laparoscopy over open liver surgery,calculated using bootstrap sampling,was compared between AL and PS resections and expressed as a delta of the ***:After matching,3,040 AL and 2,336 PS resections were compared,encompassing open and laparoscopic procedures in a 1:1 *** and PS laparoscopic liver resections were more advantageous in comparison to open in terms of blood loss,transfusion rate,complications,and length of ***,AL resections benefitted more from laparoscopy than PS in terms of overall and severe complications(d-difference were 4.8%,P=0.046 and 3%,P=0.046)and blood loss(d-difference was 195 mL,P<0.001).Similar results were observed in the subset for high-volume centres,while in recent years no significant differences were found in the differential benefit between AL and PS ***:The advantage of laparoscopic over open liver surgery is greater in the AL segments than in the PS segments.
