In order to suppress the switch voltage spike in the tapped-inductor boost (TIB) converter, a passive lossless snubber with minimum voltage stress is proposed. It consists of two capacitors and three diodes and takes advantage of the leakage inductance of the tapped-inductor. Moreover, it can readily be incorporated into an existing system since it does not modify the original TIB topology. The TIB converter employing the proposed snubber features zero current soft-switching of the switching devices, significantly relieveddiode reverse-recoveries, and higher step-up ratio than the original TIB converter without a snubber. The proposed circuit is analyzed in detail, and some experimental results are also presented.

A high-efficiency boundary conduction mode (BCM) tapped-inductor boost converter for constant output current applications is proposed. Besides the well-known advantages from the BCM operation such as the significantly relieveddiode reverse-recovery and switching loss, the proposed converter shows a switching frequency which is insensitive to the output voltage variations. This makes the proposed converter very attractive in small form factor mobile LEddriver applications. The circuit is analyzed in detail, and a design guideline is presented. Experimental results from an LEd backlight driver prototype for a 14" notebook computer are also presented.

This paper mainly focuses on EMC issues on wireless power transfer, including emission which may cause the interference to otherradio equipment, immunity, and human body protection. The general overview on the EMC andrelevant issues are shown. We examined the advantages of embeddedsystems on cloud computing. Specifically, we left only minimum functions (controller and communication) in the enddevice while implementing remaining functions (other controller / data processing / storage) into the server on cloud computing. As an experiment, we developed a system capable of recognizing car number plate. Leveraging cloud computing allows us to obtain such benefits as smooth performance, reduceddevelopment time, simpler embeddedsystem and potential of functionality and performance that were thought impossible. Through developing the number plate recognition system, we are convinced of realizing such potential.

With the emergence of energy crisis and environmental pollution, the concept of microgrid (MG) is receiving much attention today. The optimal operation scheduling is an important research topic in the field of MG. In this paper, binary gravitational search algorithm (BGSA) is proposed to optimize the operation scheduling of MG dynamically, which includes dynamic optimal unit commitment and powerdispatch. At first, according to the characteristics of MG operation and its internal relations between different time periods, a mathematical optimization model is established to achieve the least operation and environmental cost, while meeting the loaddemand andsystem operating requirements. In order to solve this complex optimal problem, BGSA is proposed to optimize the unit commitment and powerdispatch of MG. The simulation results show that the proposed method has efficient performance in optimizing operation scheduling of MG dynamically, and thus can improve the technical level of MG operation for more economic and environmental benefits.

The basic concept of smart environment is to be aware of the context information related to environmental and human behavioral changes, and to provide appropriate services accordingly. To obtain the context information, people often use video cameras, microphones, and otherdevices. These devices can obtain a wealth of environmental information, but could easily lead to privacy issues. Large environmental information also need more computing resources to process the information. In this paper, we study human behavior identification based on simple sensors. Using fuzzy logic we analyze the sensordata and try to identify fourdifferent activities. Experimental results show that the proposed method can correctly identify 83.7 % of these four activities. results given here will be useful fordesigning smart homes, smart office, and so on.
