The accuracy of de-embedding techniques depending on de-embedding layout patterns has been verified by experiment up to 110 GHz for CMOS circuits. The accuracy of the measured characteristics is affected significantly by the de-embedding procedure, which has been done for the raw measurement data. The de-embedding patterns and some transmission lines (TL) as test device were designed and fabricated using 40 nm CMOS process. From the experiment results, it was confirmed that each characteristic of the TL, such as propagation constant and characteristic impedance, has a different suitable de-embedding pattern to set a reference plane at a different desired position.

In this paper, a novel integrated circuit (IC) and system for smart grid applications is proposed that can harvest the renewable energy to support power to the direct current (dC) load and the alternative current (AC) load. In addition, an intelligent design and management tool is developed to design the proposed system and to judge the system operation situation for making the maintenance decision. Finally, the renewable energy harvesting system's information will be posted in an online system. Users can thus get the proposed system's information at any time and from anywhere. The accurate and excellent performance of the proposed IC and system is confirmed from the computer simulated and experimental results.

Microblogging websites such as Twitter are increasingly being used by businesses/campaigners for timely dissemination of information to their followers. The diffusion of a tweet depends on several factors: the activity of the follower nodes, the responsiveness of follower nodes to tweets from the source node, the out-degree of the follower nodes, the content of recent related tweets seen by the follower node, etc. Using such factors, in this paper, we propose a framework to measure the effectiveness of an information campaign over Twitter. We consider a positive as well as a negative metric to measure the impact of a tweet: while retweets are used to measure the positive impact, the lack of a timely response from an active follower node is taken as a potential negative impact. We investigate the scheduling of tweets to increase the net positive impact while keeping the net negative impact below a desired level. We propose and study several scheduling algorithms by casting the problem in a Markov decision Process (MdP) framework. In order to compare our algorithms, we estimate the model parameters from tweet data collected using the Twitter API from an arbitrarily selected node and its 6837 followers over several months. For this dataset, we find that if successive tweets in the campaign are novel, then substantial gains over user activity based scheduling can be obtained by scheduling tweets in time slots where the ratio of the expected positive and negative metrics is high. We call this the Maxratio policy and we show that it is optimal under certain conditions. In cases where we are not certain about the response of users to successive related tweets, we identify another algorithm (which we call Maxreach) as a robust alternative. 为提升片上网络在自相似通信特征下的网络性能，依据片上网络数据流的自相似特性，通过建立虚通道目相似排队模型，提出一种基于自相似排队模型的片上网络缓存分配算法。算法首先利用已建立的排队模型计算虚通道缓存溢出概率，然后依次为溢出概率最大的虚通道缓存队列递增缓存深度，每次增加一个微片，直至达到总缓存配额阈值。实验结果表明，与现有的基于排队模型的算法相比，文中算法在相同缓存开销下可获得更小的平均包延迟，在同等平均包延迟下可节约25％的缓存开销。

A random energization of unloaded transformers may cause large inrush currents and overvoltages;they lead to malfunction of protection relays and possibly to mechanical damages of the transformers windings. The paper describes the reduction of those stresses by the implementation of a controller system installed in a 400kV pumped storage power plant Transformer, circuit breaker and controller system are from independent manufacturers. Firstly, the assessment of the circuit-breaker parameters (on site) is presented. Secondly, specific operating conditions of the 400kV circuit breaker have been performed, leading to non zero residual flux values. Thirdly, several energizations of the step-up transformer have been performed, leading to a substantial reduction of inrush currents, when the synchronous controller is active. The principles of such a synchronous controller are also addressed, and a comparison with EMTP simulations is presented.

ring normal operations, response or quality variables of a process will follow a input-output relation that depend on certain key sensor variables. A soft-sensor with limited model size can be developed. When the process enters into a “faulty” state, the structure, of this model may change. Moreover, disturbance that is not reflected by sensor outputs may also be present. In this paper, we introduce a recursive soft-sensor modeling algorithm which employs a nonnegative garrote (NNG) variable selection procedure. This model can be used for both prediction, and detection of structural model change and the emergence of disturbance. The advantages of the proposed method were demonstrated by a simulation example and an industrial application to temperature prediction of a blast furnace hearth.

The IEEE rAS Ontologies for robotics and Automation Working Group is dedicated to developing a methodology for knowledge representation and reasoning in robotics and automation. As part of this working group, the Autonomous robots sub-group is tasked with developing ontology modules for autonomous robots. This paper describes the work in progress on the development of ontologies for autonomous systems. For autonomous systems, the focus is on the cooperation, coordination, and communication of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The ontologies serve as a framework for working out concepts of employment with multiple vehicles for a variety of operational scenarios with emphasis on collaborative and cooperative missions.

Service discovery is critical for mapping logical resource name to physical resources in large-scale distributed systems. The traditional domain Name system (dNS) deployed on the Internet, however, suffers from slow-down, vulnerability for denial of service attacks, and does not support fast updates. To address these problems, a novel decentralized service discovery approach based on peer-to-peer approach, but dNS and distributed hash tables not quite perfect together. We explore one such transitional scheme integrating legacy dNS into peer-to-peer service network. Our system introduces dNS elements with slight modifications, at the same time inheriting P2P’s fault-tolerance and load balance prosperities. The experimental evaluation shows that proposed scheme achieves higher data availability and provides efficient query with lower latency.

Thermionic Emission Microscope (THEM) developed at CEErI has an electrostatic immersion lens to magnify the image. The geometry of lens and potentials are optimized to achieve a magnification of about 15 times with a clear image. The design of deflection plates and lens are carried out using OmniTrAK 3-d to ensure required deflection of beam without losing laminarity and beam interception with plates. Faraday cage, containing a narrow aperture, is designed to obtain elemental currents with low secondary emission. The emission picture of a B-Type cathode has been obtained. The results are satisfactory.
