The effects of changing learning rates, data augmentation percentage and numbers of epochs on the performance of Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Networks with Gradient Penalties (WGAN-GP) are evaluated in this study. The purpose of this research is to find out how they affect the data augmentation to enhance stability during training. In this research, the degree of system performance is measured using the Classification Model Utility approach. For this reason, this study aims to determine the interaction between learning rate, augmentation percentage and epoch value when using WGAN-GP to generate synthetic data for the recognition of the system performance. The results will provide the indications on how some of the hyper parameters can be adjusted up or down for having positive or negative consequences on the generation process for further research and use of WGAN-GP. It also provides insights into how the generative model is trained, and how that affects stability and quality of the result in various settings such as image synthesis or other generative tasks. © (2025), (Science and information Organization). Transfer function adaptation for effective feature selection with the side-blotched lizard algorithm

Feature selection is a crucial preprocessing step in data mining and machine learning, enhancing model performance and computational efficiency. This paper investigates the effectiveness of the Side-Blotched Lizard Optimization Algorithm (SBLA) for feature selection by developing six novel variants: Sbla-s1, Sbla-s2, Sbla-s3, Sbla-v1, Sbla-v2, and Sbla-v3, each employing distinct S-shaped or V-shaped transfer functions to convert the continuous search space to a binary format. These variants were rigorously evaluated on nineteen benchmark datasets from the UCI repository, comparing their performance based on average classification accuracy, average number of selected features, and average fitness value. The results demonstrated the superiority of Sbla-s3, achieving an average classification accuracy of 92.8% across all datasets, a mean number of selected features of 20, and an average fitness value of 0.08. Furthermore, Sbla-s3 consistently outperformed six other state-of-the-art metaheuristic algorithms, achieving the highest average accuracy on sixteen out of nineteen datasets. These findings establish Sbla-s3 as a promising and effective approach for feature selection, capable of identifying relevant features while maintaining high classification accuracy, potentially leading to improved model performance in various machine learning applications. © The Author(s) 2024.

Robust tube-based MPC with smooth computation for dexterous robot manipulation

Dexterous robot manipulation has shone in complex industrial scenarios, where multiple manipulators, or fingers, cooperate to grasp and manipulate objects. When encountering multi-objective optimization with system constraints in such scenarios, model predictive control(MPC) has demonstrated exceptional performance in complex multi-robot manipulation tasks involving multi-objective optimization with system constraints. However, in such scenarios, the substantial computational load required to solve the optimal control problem(OCP) at each triggering instant can lead to significant delays between state sampling and control application, hindering real-time performance. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a novel robust tube-based smooth MPC approach for two fundamental manipulation tasks: reaching a given target and tracking a reference trajectory. By predicting the successor state as the initial condition for imminent OCP solving, we can solve the forthcoming OCP ahead of time, alleviating delay effects. Additionally,we establish an upper bound for linearizing the original nonlinear system, reducing OCP complexity and enhancing response speed. Grounded in tube-based MPC theory, the recursive feasibility and closed-loop stability amidst constraints and disturbances are ensured. Empirical validation is provided through two numerical simulations and two real-world dexterous robot manipulation tasks, which shows that the seamless control input by our methods can effectively enhance the solving efficiency and control performance when compared to conventional time-triggered MPC strategies.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are developing so fast that they can bring revolutionary changes in ecological sustainability, public health, and community welfare. In contrast, the present waste management system has a set of inefficiencies due to some challenges, such as poor waste stream segregation, limited real-time data analysis, and negligible integration of recent technology. These challenges lead to environmental degradation, public health hazards, and inefficient usage of resources. This research targets these challenges by designing an IWM framework like AI-IoT for smart waste management. The system employs AI models powered by IoT sensors for efficient waste collection, classification, and optimization of recycling schedules. CNN (convolutional neural networks) with transfer learning enabled by Res-Net provides high-accuracy image recognition, which can be used for waste classification. Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) allow multilingual users to interact and communicate properly in any linguistic environment. Data collected from IoT-enabled smart bins is transmitted in real-time to a central control system for dynamic decision-making and follow-up analysis. A pilot exercise to verify the system's effectiveness was implemented in metropolitan settings to show the transformation: landfill dependency was decreased by 30 %, recycling efficiency was greatly increased to 90 %, and thus the cost of waste management was optimized. At the same time, environmental health inequity, causing pathogen-related threats, was reduced by 35 %. The model has an accuracy of 96.8 %. The features of the proposed framework not only provide solutions to the existing inefficiencies but also enhance scalability, cost-effectiveness, and global environmental standardization. Advancing Bankruptcy Forecasting With Hybrid Machine Learning Techniques: Insights From an Unbalanced Polish Dataset

The challenge of bankruptcy prediction, critical for averting financial sector losses, is amplified by the prevalence of imbalanced datasets, which often skew prediction models. Addressing this, our study introduces the innovative hybrid model XGBoost+ANN, designed to leverage the strengths of both ensemble learning and artificial neural networks. This model integrates a comprehensive set of features with parameters optimized through genetic algorithms, eschewing traditional feature selection approaches. Our research focuses on an unbalanced dataset of Polish companies and reveals that the XGBoost+ANN model, in particular, exhibits outstanding performance. Optimized using genetic algorithms and without feature selection, this model achieved the highest AUC (0.958), sensitivity (0.752), and accuracy (0.983) scores, surpassing other models in our study. This remarkable outperformance, along with the robust results, marks a substantial advancement in the field of bankruptcy prediction. It underscores the efficacy of our approach in addressing the persistent challenge of data imbalance, offering a more reliable and accurate solution for financial risk assessment. © 2013 IEEE.

A systematic Literature Review on the Security Attacks and Countermeasures Used in Graphical Passwords

This systematic literature review delves into the dynamic realm of graphical passwords, focusing on the myriad security attacks they face and the diverse countermeasures devised to mitigate these threats. The core objective of this paper is to identify existing security threats to graphical password schemes and the corresponding countermeasures developed to mitigate these attacks. The study process begins by identifying the usable databases and search engines to identify all the relevant resources. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were carefully selected to prioritize the study, focusing mostly on attacks and countermeasures related to graphical password schemes between 2009 and 2023. After thorough identification and selection progress, 59 studies met all the criteria. Among these studies, 47 mentioned shoulder surfing as a threat to graphical password schemes, while 20 discussed brute force attacks. Additionally, there were 21 papers on dictionary attacks, 13 on smudge attacks, spyware attacks, and social engineering, and 19 that discussed guessing attacks as threats to graphical password schemes. Furthermore, the papers identified several other attacks, including frequency of occurrence analysis attacks, video recording, eavesdropping, computer vision, sonar, and image gallery attacks, with the corresponding numbers of papers being 9, 17, 5, 2, 2, and 1, respectively. The results also highlight the countermeasures proposed in the study papers to mitigate the aforementioned attacks. Among the various countermeasures identified, most revolve around randomization, obfuscation, and password space complexity as the most commonly used techniques for enhancing the security of graphical password schemes. © 2013 IEEE.

Collaborative Service Provisioning for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.

This work is how to achieve high user throughput with high performance in congested areas by amending the existing coexistence methods and enhancing the performance metrics by updating some input metrics such as duty cycle period, energy detection threshold, data transfer period, etc. The simple topology will verify the basic concept of LTE-U/LAA coexistence with Wi-Fi. Then the indoor-crowded coexistence scenarios of LTE-LAA/U and Wi-Fi 6E in the 5 GHz will be the main idea of this study using the enhanced CAT-4 LBT algorithm design. The proposed model evaluated the coexistence performance based on CDF of throughput and latency. The transport layer of wireless communication will play a worthy role. When using the TCP protocol, the Wi-Fi throughput and latency will be more effective than the LAA operator. When using the UDP protocol, the LTE-LAA network has better throughput and latency than the Wi-Fi network. The throughput and latency for LTE-U and Wi-Fi operators are roughly identical using the FTP protocol. Overall, the throughput improved by 20%, and an approximately 2 ms delay time of the handover compared to the previous research results. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
