COVID-19 is one of the severe problems in front of the world. The world is facing a second and third wave now. Different researchers are planning the pattern of spread based on wave one behavior, vaccination patterns, medical facilities, etc. This paper focuses on the main models for understanding the patterns discussed and valuable for understanding and addressing the COVID-19 issue. COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus that spreads very quickly from person to person. This virus has gripped the world even though many countries like the UK and Thailand have managed to contain its spread significantly. The first case of this virus was reported in India in March 2019. Almost all countries had to suffer human losses due to this virus. Countries are not prepared to face the consequences arising from this pandemic. The study found that social distance, geographic location, and temperature, among other parameters, could allow researchers to develop more accurate models. When the pandemic started to spread, the researchers' focus was on how to control the pandemic from spreading to other areas. When the pandemic began to slow down, the emphasis was on developing models related to recovery and the long-term impact caused by the pandemic. © 2021 IEEE.

Incorporating positive temperature coefficient(PTC)ceramic particles into polymers provides a prospective alternative solution for suppressing severe electric field distortions caused by negative temperature coefficient(NTC)of electrical resistivity within polymer insulation in high voltage direct current *** effect of the Curie temperature of PTC particles on the inhibition of the NTC effect of cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE)is investigated in this *** temperature coefficient particles with varied Curie temperatures are surface-modified and melt blending with *** modified particles are dispersed on averagely in the *** electrical resistivity,space charge behaviour,and direct current(DC)electrical breakdown strength of the samples are investigated at different temperatures,exploring the effect of the Curie temperature of PTC particles on suppressing the NTC effect of *** is demonstrated that the reduction in Curie temperature can further suppress the NTC effect of XLPE,enhance the DC strength at elevated temperatures,and inhibit the internal space charge *** reduction in the Curie temperatures means that the initiation of the PTC effect advances,exhibiting a higher potential barrier and inhibiting the NTC effect more *** work may give a reference for improving the temperature stability of DC properties for XLPE cable insulation.

On Achievable Covert Communication Performance under CSI Estimation Error and Feedback Delay

Covert communication’s effectiveness critically depends on precise channel state information (CSI). This paper investigates the impact of imperfect CSI on achievable covert communication performance in a two-hop relay system. Firstly, we introduce a two-hop covert transmission scheme utilizing channel inversion power control (CIPC) to manage opportunistic interference, eliminating the receiver’s self-interference. Given that CSI estimation error (CEE) and feedback delay (FD) are the two primary factors leading to imperfect CSI, we construct a comprehensive theoretical model to accurately characterize their effects on CSI quality. With the aid of this model, we then derive closed-form solutions for detection error probability (DEP) and covert rate (CR), establishing an analytical framework to delineate the inherent relationship between CEE, FD, and covert performance. Furthermore, to mitigate the adverse effects of imperfect CSI on achievable covert performance, we investigate the joint optimization of channel inversion power and data symbol length to maximize CR under DEP constraints and propose an iterative alternating algorithm to solve the bi-dimensional non-convex optimization problem. Finally, extensive experimental results validate our theoretical framework and illustrate the impact of imperfect CSI on achievable covert performance. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Hair editing is a critical image synthesis task that aims to edit hair color and hairstyle using text descriptions or reference images, while preserving irrelevant attributes (e.g., identity, background, cloth). Many existing methods are based on StyleGAN to address this task. However, due to the limited spatial distribution of StyleGAN, it struggles with multiple hair color editing and facial preservation. Considering the advancements in diffusion models, we utilize Latent Diffusion Models (LDMs) for hairstyle editing. Our approach introduces Multi-stage Hairstyle Blend (MHB), effectively separating control of hair color and hairstyle in diffusion latent space. Additionally, we train a warping module to align the hair color with the target region. To further enhance multi-color hairstyle editing, we fine-tuned a CLIP model using a multi-color hairstyle dataset. Our method not only tackles the complexity of multi-color hairstyles but also addresses the challenge of preserving original colors during diffusion editing. Extensive experiments showcase the superiority of our method in editing multi-color hairstyles while preserving facial attributes given textual descriptions and reference images.

The Internet of Things (IoT) devices have been deployed to realize smart environments such as smart cities, smart homes, smart health and smart grids. In these domains, the IoT devices collect and forward high volumes of sensitive and private data. It is therefore important that security schemes be developed to protect the exchanged data. In this regard, a myriad of authentication protocols have been developed over the recent past. However, these schemes deploy cryptographic primitives that result in extremely high communication, storage and computation complexities. In addition, some of these protocols still have numerous security and privacy issues that render them unsuitable for deployment in an IoT environment. For instance, untraceability, anonymity, key escrow problems and attack vectors such as de-synchronization and forgery attacks are frequently ignored. In this paper, a transient session key derivation protocol is developed to address some of these security and efficiency challenges. The security analysis executed shows that this protocol offers untraceability, device anonymity and perfect forward key secrecy. In addition, it is robust against de-synchronization, known secret key leakage, eavesdropping and forgery attacks. In terms of operational efficiency, this protocol incurs the lowest computation and communication complexities. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Several millions of people suffer from Parkinson’s disease ***’s affects about 1%of people over 60 and its symptoms increase with *** voice may be affected and patients experience abnormalities in speech that might not be noticed by listeners,but which could be analyzed using recorded speech *** the huge advancements of technology,the medical data has increased dramatically,and therefore,there is a need to apply data mining and machine learning methods to extract new knowledge from this *** classification methods were used to analyze medical data sets and diagnostic problems,such as Parkinson’s Disease(PD).In addition,to improve the performance of classification,feature selection methods have been extensively used in many *** paper aims to propose a comprehensive approach to enhance the prediction of PD using several machine learning methods with different feature selection methods such as filter-based and *** dataset includes 240 recodes with 46 acoustic features extracted from3 voice recording replications for 80 *** experimental results showed improvements when wrapper-based features selection method was used with K-NN classifier with accuracy of 88.33%.The best obtained results were compared with other studies and it was found that this study provides comparable and superior results.

As one of the staple horticultural crops, Shallot requires accurate monitoring to understand its cultivation better and to face environmental challenges in lowland regions. Nevertheless, there are still limited studies on mapping shallot agriculture using remote sensing data. In this study, we aimed to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of mapping shallot cultivation in lowland areas by leveraging high-resolution Sentinel-2 imagery combined with machine-learning techniques, specifically Random Forest, to classify the cultivation areas accurately. Preprocessed Sentinel-2 data using Google Earth Engine and validation data from field surveys and high-resolution satellite imagery inspection are utilized to create training and testing datasets for the machine learning model. Our findings reveal that the Random Forest model resulted in an Overall Accuracy of 88% and a total area of 12,121 hectares in July 2023. The proposed method can be used to estimate the planting and harvested area regularly to support smart-climate agriculture. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

CMD: A Cache-assisted GPU Memory Deduplication Architecture

Massive off-chip accesses in GPUs are the main performance bottleneck, and we divided these accesses into three types: (1) Write, (2) Data-Read, and (3) Read-Only. Besides, We find that many writes are duplicate, and the duplication can be inter-dup and intra-dup. While inter-dup means different memory blocks are identical, and intra-dup means all the 4B elements in a line are the same. In this work, we propose a cache-assisted GPU memory deduplication architecture named CMD to reduce the off-chip accesses via utilizing the data duplication in GPU applications. CMD includes three key design contributions which aim to reduce the three kinds of accesses: (1) A novel GPU memory deduplication architecture that removes the inter-dup and inter-dup lines. As for the inter-dup detection, we reduce the extra read requests caused by the traditional read-verify hash process. Besides, we design several techniques to manage duplicate blocks. (2) We propose a cache-assisted read scheme to reduce the reads to duplicate data. When an L2 cache miss wants to read the duplicate block, if the reference block has been fetched to L2 and it is clean, we can copy it to the L2 missed block without accessing off-chip DRAM. As for the reads to intra-dup data, CMD uses the on-chip metadata cache to get the data. (3) When a cache line is evicted, the clean sectors in the line are invalidated while the dirty sectors are written back. However, most read-only victims are re-referenced from DRAM more than twice. Therefore, we add a full-associate FIFO to accommodate the read-only (it is also clean) victims to reduce the re-reference counts. Experiments show that CMD can decrease the off-chip accesses by 31.01%, reduce the energy by 32.78% and improve performance by 37.79%. Recent breakthroughs in computer vision have led to the invention of several intelligent systems in different sectors. In transportation, this advancement led to the possibility of proposing autonomous vehicles. This recent technology relies heavily on wireless sensors and Deep learning. For an autonomous vehicle to navigate safely on highways, the vehicle needs equipment to aid with detecting road anomalies such as potholes ahead of time. The massive improvement in computer vision models such as Deep Convolutional Neural networks (DCNN) or vision transformers (ViT) resulted in many success stories and tremendous breakthroughs in object detection tasks;this enabled the use of such models in different application areas. But many of the reported results are theoretical and unrealistic in real-life. Usually, the nature of these models is extensive;they are trained on High-performance computers or cloud computing environments with GPUs, which challenge their usage on edge devices. However, to come up with a light model that can fit into embedded devices, the model size has to be reduced significantly so that the performance will not be affected. Therefore, this paper proposes a lightweight model of pothole detection for an embedded device. The model achieved a state-of-the-art accuracy of 98%, with the number of parameters reduced to more than 70% compared with a deep CNN model;the model can be trained and deployed on embedded devices such as smartphones efficiently. © 2022 The authors and IOS Press. Earlier generations of mobile technology experienced exponential growth in mobile customers, disruptive ecosystems like Internet of Things applications, and massive channel capacity needed to connect trillions of devices. 5G networks are a vital solution. 5G aims to provide 10 Gbps to a single user, as well as quality of service, increased spectrum efficiency, ultra-reliable communication, extended device battery life, massive machine-type communication (mMTC), and a 1000-fold capacity gain. Due to the heavy traffic volume and high resource consumption of 5G applications like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and wireless body area networks, there are major barriers to channel capacity and potential service disruptions for other users. New strategies are needed to increase spectral efficiency and channel capacity. This paper explores many major new wireless technologies that aim to increase spectral efficiency and channel capacity to meet growing user demands and improve network performance. This paper also examines these technologies' benefits and research challenges. Massive Multi-Input Multi-Output (mMIMO) technology's effectiveness and potential distinguish it for 5G and Beyond 5G (B5G) networks, offering a variety of benefits and characteristics. This article can also assist researchers who are conducting in-depth studies, as well as wireless network operators who aim to streamline the development of 5G and B5G networks. © 2024 IEEE.
