This paper compares the efficiency of on-off Keying (OOK) modulation formats non-return-to-zero (NRZ) and return-to-zero (RZ) in both electrical and optical chromatic dispersion compensation. While In electrical compensator feed forward-decision feedback equalizer (FFE-DFE) method was applied, Dispersion Compensation Fiber (DCF) was chosen to evaluate the effect of modulation format on them. Transmission distance, subsequently are varied in both systems with mentioned compensation systems to evaluate the Bit Error Rate (BER) regarding to mentioned modulation techniques.

This paper presents our work toward organizing and managing various forms of federations of virtualized infrastructures. We adopt the Ponder2 policy framework and the SMC architecture as a powerful engineering approach, which we apply to semantic-aware management of federations of Future Internet (FI) virtualized infrastructures. To cater for context-awareness, we plan for a common information model, based on the network Description Language (NDL), capturing a common set of abstractions of virtualized resources and services, nodes, routers and switches, custom network topologies with specific bandwidth demands, etc. To handle management of generic complex federated environments, we employ structural patterns to model federations as graphs, whose vertices represent SMCs and edges denote the type of relationship between them. We give an illustration of such structures corresponding to existing FI experimental platforms in the US and Europe and we provide examples containing inter-domain management responsibilities as missions. Finally, we propose to augment the Ponder2 framework with single & multi-domain resource provisioning capabilities, enabling efficient sharing of virtualized networked facilities among federation users.

Providing consistent security services in on-demand provisioned Cloud infrastructure services is of primary importance due to multi-tenant and potentially multi-provider nature of Clouds Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environment. Cloud security infrastructure should address two aspects of the IaaS operation and dynamic security services provisioning: (1) provide security infrastructure for secure Cloud IaaS operation, (2) provisioning dynamic security services, including creation and management of the dynamic security associations, as a part of the provisioned composite services or virtual infrastructures. The first task is a traditional task in security engineering, while dynamic provisioning of managed security services in virtualised environment remains a problem and requires additional research. In this paper we discuss both aspects of the Cloud Security and provide suggestions about required security mechanisms for secure data management in dynamically provisioned Cloud infrastructures. The paper refers to the architectural framework for on-demand infrastructure services provisioning, being developed by authors, that provides a basis for defining the proposed Cloud Security Infrastructure. The proposed SLA management solution is based on the WS-Agreement and allows dynamic SLA management during the whole provisioned services lifecycle. The paper discusses conceptual issues, basic requirements and practical suggestions for dynamically provisioned access control infrastructure (DACI). The paper proposes the security mechanisms that are required for consistent DACI operation, in particular security tokens used for access control, policy enforcement and authorisation session context exchange between provisioned infrastructure services and Cloud provider services. In China, there are many actual problems in some enterprises' performance management, such as the target dislocation, the unscientific assessment indicator, the assessment results' not linking to rewards and punishments, assessment system solidification and so on. All these problems have affected the effectiveness display of performance management to a great extent. In view of this, this article has constructed performance management system based on the balanced scorecard, taking advantage of balanced scorecard in the strategic management and the performance management. Finally, the article demonstrates the validity and rationality of the research through the case study of Company A.

As the capacity of independent innovation is a vital measure standard for the success of a city's construction, the goal of this paper is to analyze and comment it. In order to make the research result more objective and precise, a system of evaluating indicator which includes the ability of innovation input, management, guarantee and output has been established. Moreover, by using the method of Principal Component Analysis, the capacity for independent innovation of nine cities in the Wanjiang city-region is clearly realized. Finally, hoping that this paper would be helpful to the construction of Wanjiang city-region for industrial transfer and provide a policy basis for the macroscopic readjustment and control as well as management.

Software testing is an important and valuable part of the software development life cycle. Due to time, cost and other circumstances, exhaustive testing is not feasible that's why there is a need to automate the testing process. Testing effectiveness can be achieved by the State Transition Testing (STT) which is commonly used in real time, embedded and web-based kinds of software systems. The tester's main job to test all the possible transitions in the system. This paper proposed an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) technique for the automated and full coverage of all state-transitions in the system. Present paper approach generates test sequence in order to obtain the complete software coverage. This paper also discusses the comparison between two metaheuristic techniques (Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony optimization) for transition based testing.

Power penalty assessment of OXADM device model-analytical analysis

This OXADM are located in the nodes, which have more than two switching directions in ring networks. The function of OXADM is to flexibility switch the wavelengths among the different input and output ports. Because of the OXADM's imperfect performance, the insertion loss and crosstalk are induced in the system. Analytical modeling method is using to analyze the OXADM structure in crosstalk or power leakage that lead to the power penalty. To overcome this problem, power penalty is needed to be supplied. The insertion of this power penalty depends on few parameters. The parameters that we going to investigate here will be in term of number of operating wavelengths and number of input/output ports as well as the Q factor. The variation of this parameters will affects the amount of the desired power penalty. Simulation results in higher crosstalk or higher power penalty needed as the number of OXADM increases. As the sum of the wavelength and the number of input/output for each OXADM increases, the power penalty will increased as well. Investigation on the maximum Q factors is 6 to get the minimum power penalty at the lowest BER for most of the combination of the sum of the wavelength and the number of input/output for each OXADM.

This study introduces a low cost technique for testing and monitoring process that can be applied specifically for Fiber-to-the-Home Passive Optical network (FTTH-PON). The simplest and low cost method would be using a Optical Power Meter (OPM) which is able to detect the total loss on the network. However, to identify faulty sections of a network, segmentation need to be done together with the optical power meter. Another testing and troubleshooting method would be using the Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). The OTDR within the network is able to detect the component that causes losses in the network. However, elements acting as a power splitter are not being able to be detected by the OTDR. Therefore, the Access Control system (ACS) is developed to bypass those elements and allows the use of OTDR entirely. This method is proven to be a faster method than the first. Additionally, it can be upgraded to monitor the line status by accumulate all the result in one display computer screen. But this mechanism is not interested to be discussed detail in this study. The new configuration of FTTH is named as modified FTTH. In the end, we compare the installation cost between the conventional and modified FTTH for different network size according to number of users. © Asian network for Scientific Information.

Functional analysis and security tests of online collaborative working platform for Shanghai EXPO 2010

The paper presents functional analysis and security tests of online collaborative working platform for 2010 Shanghai EXPO participants. Under the framework of the computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) platform, we illustrate the project development procedure including operating environments, development environments, and document designs. All the design procedures obey on the online Shanghai EXPO requirements. After the platform is established, we make functional analysis and security tests by both our team and a third party. The experimental results show that the online Shanghai Expo CSCW platform is secure and efficient for distributed participant services. Copyright © 2010 Binary Information Press.

The proposal of OXADM application in FTTH network

With the drastically growth in optical communication technology, a lossless, low-crosstalk and multifunction optical switch is most desirable for large-scale photonic network. To realize such a switch, we have introduced the new architecture of optical switch that embedded many functions on single device. The asymmetrical architecture of OXADM consists of 3 parts;selective port, add/drop operation, and path routing. The unique features offered by OXADM has extended its application to Fiber to-the Home Technology (FTTH), here the OXADM is used as a wavelength management element in Optical Line Terminal (OLT). Each port is assigned specifically with the operating wavelengths and with the dynamic routing management to ensure no traffic combustion occurs in OLT. Protection and restoration mechanisms have been applied in backbone networks, but access networks are not considered significantly in the scope of survivability. Towards that, this paper describes our recent approach toward advanced customer access network through the development of an access control system (ACS). The ACS focuses on providing survivability through the OXADM restoration scheme against failure by means of dedicated and shared protection that is applied in FTTH-EPON. A next feature is the high speed restoration achieved by automatic re-routing using fiber status monitoring. Each OXADM has a node controller which receives reports on the status periodically from access control system (ACS). When a failure is detected, The ACS will send a command to the related OXADM to be activated. The proposed restoration system is the first in its kind which covers the survivability in the drop section of FTTH access network.
