Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are rapidly transforming the landscape of online services. From intelligent chatbots to hyper-personalized recommendations, AI-driven technologies are enabling online providers to deliver more customized, streamlined, and human-like digital experiences. This paper examines the growing role and impacts of AI and automation across a range of online industries, products, and interactions. It analyzes key applications like natural language processing, computer vision, predictive analytics, and robotic process automation that are automating everything from customer service to supply chain logistics. The benefits of these technologies, including 24/7 availability, scalability, and cost savings, are discussed along with challenges around data privacy, transparency, and workforce impacts. This paper outlines the merging of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) with Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) and space communication systems. The usage of AI drives decision-making in critical domains of telecommunications and space explorations requires transparency and interpretability. However, traditional AI models often operate as 'black boxes,' making it difficult to understand their decision-making processes. This lack of explainability poses significant risks, including misinterpretation of signals, undetected anomalies, and erroneous decision-making, which can compromise the integrity of communication systems. Specifically, the challenges include accurately distinguishing between legitimate signals and attacks in anti-jamming scenarios, understanding the behaviour of complex models like LSTM in traffic prediction, and ensuring the reliability of telemetry data despite errors and noise. Integration of XAI techniques within O-RAN architecture and space communication protocols can ensure trust, reliability and safety in AI-enabled systems. This paper investigates the opportunities and challenges of incorporating XAI in O-RAN and space communications. Additionally, it presents the implications of XAI, the need for interpretability in autonomous spacecraft operations, anomaly detection and decision support for mission-critical tasks. By bridging the gap in AI transparency and advanced communication technology, this paper aims to present a detailed analysis of implemented AI and Machine Learning (ML) in the telecommunication domain. It also presents the challenges currently faced in the intersection of XAI and communication. Use cases of XAI in the domain of Open Radio Access Network and Space Communications in light of LIME and SHAP techniques were presented to give a hypothetical modelling for future experimentation to provide local and global interpretation and explanations for the currently employed AI/ML models in the respective domains. Deep neural networks (DNNs) have emerged as the most effective programming paradigm for computer vision and natural language processing applications. With the rapid development of DNNs, efficient hardware architectures for deploying DNN-based applications on edge devices have been extensively studied. Emerging nonvolatile memories (NVMs), with their better scalability, nonvolatility, and good read performance, are found to be promising candidates for deploying DNNs. However, despite the promise, emerging NVMs often suffer from reliability issues, such as stuck-at faults, which decrease the chip yield/memory lifetime and severely impact the accuracy of DNNs. A stuck-at cell can be read but not reprogrammed, thus, stuck-at faults in NVMs may or may not result in errors depending on the data to be stored. By reducing the number of errors caused by stuck-at faults, the reliability of a DNN-based system can be enhanced. This article proposes CRAFT, i.e., criticality-aware fault-tolerance enhancement techniques to enhance the reliability of NVM-based DNNs in the presence of stuck-at faults. A data block remapping technique is used to reduce the impact of stuck-at faults on DNNs accuracy. Additionally, by performing bit-level criticality analysis on various DNNs, the critical-bit positions in network parameters that can significantly impact the accuracy are identified. Based on this analysis, we propose an encoding method which effectively swaps the critical bit positions with that of noncritical bits when more errors (due to stuck-at faults) are present in the critical bits. Experiments of CRAFT architecture with various DNN models indicate that the robustness of a DNN against stuck-at faults can be enhanced by up to 105 times on the CIFAR-10 dataset and up to 29 times on ImageNet dataset with only a minimal amount of storage overhead, i.e., 1.17%. In addressing the challenges of limited semantic labeling data and imprecise segmentation regions prevalent in the semantic segmentation of ship flame images, this study introduces a semi-supervised semantic segmentation method tailored for ship flame images. This approach is grounded in the principles of pairwise similarity with strong-weak perturbations. Adopting a pseudo-label self-learning strategy, the method employs weak-strong perturbation pairwise similarity, ensuring the propagation of high-confidence predictions during label generation, and thereby enhancing performance. Additionally, to tackle the inherent difficulties presented by smoke enveloping and obscuring flame regions in ship images, we have conceived a Vertical Continuity Feature Enhancement module. This module empowers the model to discern more explicit inter-class boundaries. Empirical evaluations on our proprietary dataset substantiate the superiority of our method, registering an improvement of 4.12 percentage points in mIoU over other semi-supervised approaches. Such results attest to the efficacy of the proposed pairwise similarity approach and the Vertical Continuity Feature Enhancement module in flame semantic segmentation. © 2023 IEEE.

Surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms (SAEAs) have demonstrated promising optimization performance in addressing expensive dynamic optimization problems or expensive multimodal optimization problems. However, none of existing SAEAs are designed specifically for tackling expensive dynamic multimodal optimization problems (EDMMOPs). Therefore, in this paper, a first SAEA for tackling EDMMOPs is proposed. First, a nearest density clustering is designed to divide the population into a number of subpopulations, enhancing the diversity of the population. Then, a surrogate-assisted evolutionary optimizer is developed to construct surrogate models for each subpopulation and evolve all solutions in subpopulations by means of the built surrogate models, accelerating the population's converge towards several optimal solutions rapidly. Finally, a transfer learning-based prediction is devised to generate initial samples for next environment by leveraging the stored training samples in the previous environments. To assess the performance of our proposed algorithm, a set of complex benchmark problems is adopted, and the experimental results confirm its superior performance over several competitive algorithms on most test cases. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper explores the benefits, challenges, and implications of integrating social media platforms into mobile government and examines its impact on enhancing citizen engagement and improving service delivery. Social media can incorporate citizen-government interactions by enabling the realtime communication, fostering transparency, and promoting public participation. Government agencies can leverage social media platforms to reach citizens directly, with different demographic characteristics, disseminate information efficiently, and get valuable feedback. Different successful use cases discussed, where social media has been employed in mobile government initiatives, such as during emergencies cases, policy formulation, and service promotion. Using the systematic Literature Review, the results show one key benefit of leveraging social media in mobile government platforms is enhanced citizen engagement and increase the user satisfaction. Social media creates interactive spaces where citizens can voice opinions, express concerns, and participate in decision-making processes. It facilitates the formation of virtual communities and encourages collaboration between the user and the service provider. © 2023 IEEE.

User feedback is an approach for users to review the service process and plays a critical role in reviewing service approaches. One of these is Mobile Government (eGovernment) services, which aim to facilitate government services for public use. As mobile government (mGovernment) services gain prominence in public service delivery, understanding user insights and feedback is paramount for ensuring service excellence. Using a systematic Literature Review (SLR), the authors gathered and analyzed qualitative studies that explored user perspectives, experiences, and expectations related to the role of users' feedback on online services. This review highlights critical areas for service improvement, including user interface design, accessibility, responsiveness, and information accuracy. By synthesizing and integrating user insights, this study recommends optimizing mGovernment services and creating more user-centric platforms. The findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge on mGovernment service quality and offer practical implications for policymakers and service providers. By prioritizing user feedback and incorporating it into service design and development, mGovernment platforms can be tailored to meet users' needs, ultimately enhancing their overall experience and engagement with public services. © 2023 IEEE.
