Utilizing the sleep switch transistor technique and dual threshold voltage technique, a source following evaluation gate (SEFG) based domino circuit is presented in this paper for simultaneously suppressing the leakage current and enhancing noise immunity. Simulation results show that the leakage current of the proposed design can be reduced by 43%, 62%, and 67% while improving 19.7%, 3.4%, and 12.5% noise margin as compared to standard low threshold voltage circuit, standard dual threshold voltage circuit, and SEFG structure, respectively. Also, the inputs and clock signals combination static state dependent leakage current characteristic is analyzed and the minimum leakage states of different domino AND gates are obtained.

Analyzing user's browsing sequences is an important task of web usage mining. It can help the web administrators or designers improve the web structure or tune the performance of the web servers. Mining on the sequences of such clicking patterns (MSCP) can be considered as a data mining task. MSCP is usually a costly task due to its considerable amount of time for computation and storage for archiving a huge amount of data. Running MSCP becomes inefficient or even not workable on a computer with limited resources. This paper explores the deployment of MSCP in a distributed grid computing environment and demonstrates its effectiveness by empirical cases. The use of a grid-environment and associated experimental results are presented and discussed.

Most area-defense formulations follow from the assumption that threats must first be identified and then neutralized. This is reasonable, but inherent to it is a process of labeling: threat A must be identified and then threat B, and then action must be taken. This manuscript begins from the assumption that such labeling (A & B) is irrelevant. The problem naturally devolves to one of Random Finite Set (RFS) estimation: we show that by eschewing any concern of target label we relax the estimation procedure, and it is perhaps not surprising that by such a removal of constraint (of labeling) performance (in terms of localization) is enhanced. A suitable measure for the estimation of unla-beled objects is the Mean OSPA (MOSPA). We derive a general algorithm which provided the optimal estimator which minimize the MOSPA. We call such an estimator a Minimum MOSPA (MMOSPA) estimator.

Many techniques have been developed to accelerate micro-architecture simulation since it is becoming increasingly urgent as the complexity of workloads and simulated processors increases. However, most of popular techniques need profiles or trial simulations to determine parameters before real simulations. When the number of dynamic instructions of workloads such as SPEC CPU2006 is huge, the profiles or trial simulations often take a long time. What's worse, any changes of benchmarks need to repeat the above work. This paper proposes a novel approach based on fractals to solve this problem. It employs the generation procedure of trisection Cantor Set, a classic fractal, to select instructions simulated in detail. We implement a simulator named CantorSim using the trisection Cantor fractal approach. The simulator is evaluated with benchmark programs from SPEC CPU2000 and SPEC CPU2006. We show that our approach is micro-architecture independent as the same parameter value for a single program yields similar results on processors with different configurations. The unified analytical model used to determine sampling parameters for different benchmarks indicates the proposed approach can save a lot of time for preparing parameters. On the other hand, for SPEC CPU2000 and SPEC CPU2006, CantorSim is slightly faster than SMARTSim. The validated average CPI relative errors of the SPEC CPU2000 and SPEC CPU2006 are 3.2% and 2.2% respectively. Therefore, our proposed approach can simplify acceleration of simulations significantly without sacrificing speed and accuracy.

Using both the modified supply voltage and body voltage, an optimized keeper technique is presented in this paper to tradeoff the performance of domino OR gates. The simulation results show that the novel technique can highly improve power/speed efficiency and robustness to noise. In addition, because of employment of body biased voltage, the optimized keeper technique enables to minimize effect of the strong process parameter variation.

Fractional-slot concentrated windings are adopted to design a prototype of 10 kW permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with high-inductance in terms of requirements of a new wind power system based on current source converter. The generator characteristics at different operation modes are analyzed by finite element method. The simulation results show that the cogging torque is small with the sine wave of Back EMF and small fluctuation of output rectified DC current, which meet the requirements of wind power system based on current source converter.

A background model using image subtraction in an intelligent video surveillance system could make severe errors in detection and tracking of objects due to changes of natural phenomena such as shadows and wind. Adaptive background models have been proposed in order to solve these problems, but most previous methods can make a ghost and sometimes miss the left objects which have stopped moving for a while. In this paper, we propose an adaptive background method to robustly track left objects and to effectively remove ghosts. The proposed method is based on background subtraction using adaptive median filtering and background update using motion information. In this method, the background is firstly updated based on the motion information in a pixel unit and secondly updated again based on the contour of the objects in a non-motion region unit. The method prevents the left objects from absorbing into the background and removes the ghosts quickly. In the experiments, we prove an effectiveness of our method through the comparison with the previous adaptive median filtering background subtraction.

In this paper, we propose a novel feature representation based on color-based Local Binary Pattern (LBP) texture analysis for face recognition (FR). The proposed method exploits both color and texture discriminative features of a face image for FR purpose. We evaluate the proposed feature using three public face databases: CMU-PIE, Color FERET, and XM2VTSDB. Experimental results show that the results of the proposed feature impressively better than the results of grayscale LBP and color features. In particular, it is shown that the proposed feature is highly robust against severe variations in illumination and spatial resolution.
