The process of froth flotation is widely used in the mining industry to separate minerals from ores. Maintaining the froth concentration grades at a stable level is crucial for efficient separation of valuable minerals. The classical monitoring methods of the mineral concentration grades currently used in the mining industry are expensive and time-consuming. These methods typically require manual sampling and laboratory analysis, which can delay decision-making and increase costs. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach that employs Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to monitor the froth concentration grades in real-time. A real-world industrial image dataset is transformed from pixel intensities to froth descriptors using FFT, enabling the identification of complex patterns of the flotation froth. The extracted features are used as input to a Machine Learning and Neural Network models to predict the concentrations of Pb, Fe, Cu, and Zn in the cleaner banks of the Lead flotation circuit. We train and test our approach using a labeled dataset from the industrial flotation circuit and evaluate its performance using a new industrial dataset. The results show that our approach achieves a precision of up to 4.16 MAE for the concentrate grades of Zn, Pb, Fe, and Cu, indicating significant potential for real-time monitoring of the froth concentration grades using the FFT-ML approach. The proposed approach has the potential to improve the operational performance and efficiency of complex polymetallic flotation circuits in mineral processing. © 2023 IEEE.

Stability analysis of controlled nonlinear systems is a problem of fundamental importance in system engineering. This paper elaborates an explicit numerical technique to maximize a quadratic Lyapunov function for the class of polynomial nonlinear models. Using the computed Lyapunov function an enlarged subsets of the basin of attraction of an asymptotically stable equilibrium can be computed in an iterative analytical way. We mainly use the Carleman linearization technique that converts a nonlinear autonomous system of finite dimension into an equivalent linear infinite dimension one. We implement the sampling technique as a numerical tool allowing the maximization of estimated regions of attraction. An example is given to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. The numerical study analysis of the designed scheme is led using the Matlab software environment. © 2022 IEEE.

Decision making can be a complex and challenging task, particularly in the context of an overwhelming amount of information available on the web. Recommender systems have emerged as a solution to aid decision making by suggesting relevant items based on users' preferences and needs. However, traditional content-based recommender systems have been criticized for their lack of diversity in recommendations. On the other hand, collaborative filtering suffers from scalability issues due to the high computational complexity of similarity calculations for large datasets. To overcome these limitations, we propose a hybrid recommender system that leverages Linked Open Data and Ant Colony Optimization. Our approach utilizes semantic databases to improve the precision of recommendations and ACO algorithm to optimize the selection of diverse items. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed system outperforms traditional recommendation systems in terms of decision aid and provides users with personalized and diverse recommendations. This research can contribute to the development of decision aid applications and improve the quality of decision making.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the digitalization of medical records and health data. This makes it possible to build sophisticated systems that facilitate rapid data retrieval, processing and analysis. An example of such systems is Question-Answer ones. It can help domain experts efficiently retrieve the required data by asking questions in natural language. Question-Answering systems based on Knowledge Graphs have found applications in various fields. Our work aims to build a question-Answering chatbot for electronic medical records. Thus, healthcare professionals can ask questions in natural language, and the chatbot will iteratively build and execute appropriate SPARQL queries over a given Knowledge Graph containing digital medical records to return relevant data. © 2024 IEEE.

The transition towards intelligent road infrastructure in smart cities has become inevitable, necessitating the inclusion of intelligence in traffic signs. Integrating advanced technologies into smart road infrastructure helps improve road safety, traffic management and the overall efficiency of the trans-portation system. Using smart traffic signs, real-time information can be provided to drivers. Additionally, integrating sensors and connectivity into traffic signals enables communication with vehicles, facilitating active safety measures and efficient traffic flow management. In this paper, we propose a driver assistance system based on I2V (infrastructure to vehicle) communication. This system is capable of detecting and even recognizing road signs using a code. The results obtained from our proposed method demonstrate its effectiveness.

Computational models of emotional learning observed in the mammalian brain have inspired diverse self-learning control approaches. These architectures are promising in terms of their fast learning ability and low computational cost. In this paper, the objective is to establish performance–guaranteed emotional learning–inspired control (ELIC) strategies for autonomous multi–agent systems (MAS), where each agent incorporates an ELIC structure to support the consensus controller. The objective of each ELIC structure is to identify and compensate model differences between the theoretical assumptions taken into account when tuning the consensus protocol, and the real conditions encountered in the real system to be stabilized. Stability of the closed-loop MAS is demonstrated using a Lyapunov analysis. Simulation results based on the consensus task of a group of inverted pendulums demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed ELIC for stabilization of nonlinear MAS.

Spatiotemporal clustering is one of the most advanced research topics in geospatial data *** has been challenging to discover cluster features with different spatiotemporal densities in geographic information data *** paper presents an effective density-based spatiotemporal clustering algorithm(DBSTC).First,we propose a method to measure the degree of similarity of a core point to the geometric center of its spatiotemporal reachable neighborhood,which can effectively solve the isolated noise point misclassification problem that exists in the shared nearest neighbor ***,we propose an ordered reachable time window distribution algorithm to calculate the reachable time window for each spatiotemporal point in the data set to solve the problem of different clusters with different temporal *** effectiveness and advantages of the DBSTC algorithm are demonstrated in several simulated data *** addition,practical applications to seismic data sets demonstrate the capability of the DBSTC algorithm to uncover clusters of foreshocks and aftershocks and help to improve the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of dynamic spatiotemporal processes in digital earth.
