We consider numbers of the form (Equation presented) for (Equation presented) a Sturmian sequence over a binary alphabet and β an algebraic number with |β| > 1. We show that every such number is transcendental. More generally, for a given base β and given irrational number θ we characterise the Q-linear independence of sets of the form (Equation presented), where (Equation presented) are Sturmian sequences having slope θ. We give an application of our main result to the theory of dynamical systems, showing that for a contracted rotation on the unit circle with algebraic slope, its limit set is either finite or consists exclusively of transcendental elements other than its endpoints 0 and 1. The Microservice API Patterns (MAP) language and supporting website premiered under this name at Microservices 2019. MAP distills proven, platform- and technology-independent solutions to recurring (micro-)service design and interface specification problems such as finding well-fitting service granularities, rightsizing message representations, and managing the evolution of APIs and their implementations. In this paper, we motivate the need for such a pattern language, outline the language organization and present two exemplary patterns describing alternative options for representing nested data. The primary goal of any company is to increase its profits by improving both the quality of its products and how they are advertised. In this context, neuromarketing seeks to enhance the promotion of products and generate a greater acceptance on potential buyers. Traditionally, neuromarketing studies have relied on a single biosignal to obtain feedback from presented stimuli. However, thanks to new devices and technological advances studying this area of knowledge, recent trends indicate a shift towards the fusion of diverse biosignals. An example is the usage of electroencephalography for understanding the impact of an advertisement at the neural level and visual tracking to identify the stimuli that induce such impacts. This emerging pattern determines which biosignals to employ for achieving specific neuromarketing objectives. Furthermore, the fusion of data from multiple sources demands advanced processing methodologies. Despite these complexities, there is a lack of literature that adequately collates and organizes the various data sources and the applied processing techniques for the research objectives pursued. To address these challenges, the current paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the objectives, biosignals, and data processing techniques employed in neuromarketing research. This study provides both the technical definition and a graphical distribution of the elements under revision. Additionally, it presents a categorization based on research objectives and provides an overview of the combinatory methodologies employed. After this, the paper examines primary public datasets designed for neuromarketing research together with others whose main purpose is not neuromarketing, but can be used for this matter. Ultimately, this work provides a historical perspective on the evolution of techniques across various phases over recent years and enumerates key lessons learned. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

COVID-19 is a contagious infection that has severe effects on the global economy and our daily *** diagnosis of COVID-19 is of importance for consultants,patients,and *** this study,we use the deep learning network AlexNet as the backbone,and enhance it with the following two aspects:1)adding batch normalization to help accelerate the training,reducing the internal covariance shift;2)replacing the fully connected layer in AlexNet with three classifiers:SNN,ELM,and ***,we have three novel models from the deep COVID network(DC-Net)framework,which are named DC-Net-S,DC-Net-E,and DC-Net-R,*** comparison,we find the proposed DC-Net-R achieves an average accuracy of 90.91%on a private dataset(available upon email request)comprising of 296 images while the specificity reaches 96.13%,and has the best performance among all three proposed *** addition,we show that our DC-Net-R also performs much better than other existing algorithms in the literature.

Many domains require scalable algorithms that help to determine diagnoses efficiently and often within predefined time limits. Anytime diagnosis is able to determine solutions in such a way and thus is especially useful in real-time scenarios such as production scheduling, robot control, and communication networks management where diagnosis and corresponding reconfiguration capabilities play a major role. Anytime diagnosis in many cases comes along with a trade-off between diagnosis quality and the efficiency of diagnostic reasoning. In this paper we introduce and analyze FLEXDIAG which is an anytime direct diagnosis approach. We evaluate the algorithm with regard to performance and diagnosis quality using a configuration benchmark from the domain of feature models and an industrial configuration knowledge base from the automotive domain. Results show that FLEXDIAG helps to significantly increase the performance of direct diagnosis search with corresponding quality tradeoffs in terms of minimality and accuracy. Remote Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), as for instance offered in microservices architectures, are used in almost any distributed system today and are thus enablers for many digitalization efforts. It is hard to design such APIs so that they are easy and effective to use;maintaining their runtime qualities while preserving backward compatibility is equally challenging. Finding well suited granularities in terms of the architectural capabilities of endpoints and the read-write semantics of their operations are particularly important design concerns. Existing pattern languages have dealt with local APIs in object-oriented programming, with remote objects, with queue-based messaging and with service-oriented computing platforms. However, patterns or equivalent guidances for the architectural design of API endpoints, operations and their request and response message structures are still missing. In this paper, we extend our microservice API pattern language (MAP) and introduce endpoint role and operation responsibility patterns, namely Processing Resource, Computation Function, State Creation Operation, Retrieval Operation, and State Transition Operation. Known uses and examples of the patterns are drawn from public Web APIs, as well as application development and system integration projects the authors have been involved in. © 2020 ACM.

The downlink channel estimation is currently a critical bottleneck for IRS-assisted cell-free multiple input multiple output communication. Conventionally, most studies have employed deep learning methods to estimate the high-dimensional, complex cascaded channels generated by IRS, necessitating data collection from all users for centralized model training, which results in excessively large overheads, and data privacy problems. To tackle this challenge, a federated learning (FL)-based channel estimation framework incorporates coalition formation to guide the formation of FL user groups. We propose a coalition formation-enabled federated learning framework for channel estimation, utilizing a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approach to intelligently group users into multiple coalitions, thereby improving channel estimation accuracy. Moreover, considering that nodes with similar distances to the base station and similar received signal power have a strong likelihood that they experience similar channel fading, we designed a transfer learning method that incorporates both received reference signal power and distance similarity metrics. The transfer learning technique is designed to accelerate the convergence of DRL-federated learning process. Simulations reveal that the proposed algorithms significantly reduce communication overhead for local users and improve data privacy while maintaining commendable channel estimation accuracy. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper reports on the NTIRE 2023 Quality Assessment of Video Enhancement Challenge, which will be held in conjunction with the New Trends in Image Restoration and Enhancement Workshop (NTIRE) at CVPR 2023. This challenge is to address a major challenge in the field of video processing, namely, video quality assessment (VQA) for enhanced videos. The challenge uses the VQA Dataset for Perceptual Video Enhancement (VDPVE), which has a total of 1211 enhanced videos, including 600 videos with color, brightness, and contrast enhancements, 310 videos with deblurring, and 301 deshaked videos. The challenge has a total of 167 registered participants. 61 participating teams submitted their prediction results during the development phase, with a total of 3168 submissions. A total of 176 submissions were submitted by 37 participating teams during the final testing phase. Finally, 19 participating teams submitted their models and fact sheets, and detailed the methods they used. Some methods have achieved better results than baseline methods, and the winning methods have demonstrated superior prediction performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Let b be an algebraic number with |b| > 1 and H a finite set of algebraic numbers. We study the transcendence of numbers of the form (Equation presented) where an ∈ H for all n ∈ N. We assume that the sequence (Equation presented) is generated by coding the orbit of a point under an irrational rotation of the unit circle. In particular, this assumption holds whenever the sequence is Sturmian. Our main result shows that, apart from some trivial exceptions, all numbers of the above form are transcendental.
