In this paper, a leader based containment control strategy for multiple unicycle agents is introduced. Similar results for the single integrator case examined in Ferrari-Trecate (2006) are derived based on the theory of partial difference equations on graphs established in Bensounssan and Menaldi (2005). The leaders converge to a desired formation based on a control law that is independent of the followers' states. Once the leaders have reached the desired formation, the followers converge to the convex hull of the leaders final positions. When the desired leader formation is infeasible, then (as was shown in Dimarogonas and Kyriakopoulos (2006)) the leaders converge to a configuration where they share the same velocities and orientations. We show in this paper that in such a situation, the followers converge to the same velocities and orientations as the leaders, with the same control law that was used for the followers in the initial containment control problem. The theoretical results are verified through computer simulations

This paper presents a conventional external scheme for controlling two neighboring static compensators (STATCOMs) from a supervisory level. The two STATCOMs are connected to two buses of a load area in a multimachine power system. The power network analyzed in this paper is a 45-bus 10-generator section of the Brazilian power system. Regulating the voltages at the points of connection to the power system is considered to be the primary objective of the local controllers of the two STATCOMs in this study. Based on the deviations of the voltages with respect to their corresponding reference values, the hierarchical control generates the appropriate signals in the form of the auxiliary reference signals for the line voltage control loops in the two devices. Simulation results are provided to show the proposed external controller improves the performance of the power system during small and large scale disturbances

To do so, they must also provide some sophisticated mechanism for exploiting the full potential of the environments they inhabit. Advancing on the way autonomous solutions usually deal with the SCM process, we have built a robust and highly-adaptable mechanism for efficiently dealing with all SCM facets, while at the same time incorporating a module that exploits data mining technology in order to forecast the price of the winning bid in a given order and, thus, adjust its bidding strategy. We present a resonant cantilever sensor for use in chemical and biological sensing applications. Electrostatically actuated suspended indium phosphide (InP) waveguides are used as the sensing cantilevers. This sensor uses an integrated optical detection scheme which eliminates the need for free space optical components seen in traditional systems. Discussions on device design as well as data collection methods are presented. Mass sensitivity in the range of Deltam = 6.6times10 -15 g is reported, comparable to similar cantilever sensor designs.
