In this paper, we continue our investigations on digital nomadism and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the work-related aspects and lifestyle of digital nomads (DN). The findings presented in this empirical study reflect the analysis of the impact of COVID-19 outbreak (and its waves) on the market economy and work-life boundaries of DNs as perceived from posts and comments gathered from a Reddit community during the period of early March 2020 until the end of 2022. From this point, our results indicate that the massification of remote work among formal workers in response to COVID-19 pandemic has impacted both the formal labor market and the DN ecosystem. As a consequence, we argue that digital nomadism tends to play a critical role beyond work from (almost) anywhere (WFA) in a post-COVID-19 era taking into account the novel facets of nomadic work-lifestyle.

Project management is important for the success of a software project. Enhancing software project management effectiveness measurements should lead the project manager to advance practices that contribute to the successful development of software projects. This study aims to enhance project management effectiveness measurements in the direction of increase the likelihood of software project success. An enhanced evaluation model of software project management effectiveness has been proposed in this study. Correspondingly, the model fed into a developed software project management effectiveness evaluation tool. This measurement tool helps software development managers to evaluate, monitor and improve project management effectiveness in software projects. The developed software project management effectiveness evaluation tool has been validated by a feedback survey. Feedback survey participants have been demonstrated the importance of the developed project management effectiveness measurement tool. © 2020 ACM.

Suitably tailored forms of spatiotemporal modulation in electronic circuit networks have been recently employed to overcome fundamental challenges in modern electronic systems, including breaking reciprocity, squeezing the footprint of high-Q resonators, and overcoming the delay-bandwidth limit. Rotating patterns of temporal modulations have been used to synthesize angular momentum, which replaces magnetic bias to break reciprocity in integrated circuits. However, this approach is limited by trade-offs between modulation speed, footprint, and bandwidth of operation. Rotating switching patterns in commutated capacitor networks also enables compact filters and quasielectrostatic wave propagation, overcoming the delay-bandwidth limit. In this paper, we combine these mechanisms in an integrated-circuit ring that synthetically rotates in two dimensions, realizing an effective helicoidal motion that provides ultrabroadband quasielectrostatic nonreciprocal responses fitting within a theoretically infinitesimal size. We also analyze the impact of modulation signal noise on time-modulated nonreciprocal components and unveil the role of a dynamic noise mechanism based on which the noise level increases in the presence of a strong signal passing through the component, along with methods to mitigate this effect. We experimentally verify these principles in a three-port integrated circulator based on a 65-nm CMOS process that operates from dc to 1 GHz with a miniaturization factor of 2 × 106.

Since 2016, the demand for remote work has grown by nearly 400%, with 3.5 million remote job vacancies posted, and it is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. Therefore, one of the challenges in advancing remote work is fostering innovation, particularly serendipity, in a remote workforce. This fortunate discovery can pave the way for technological advancements, new business strategies, or even scientific revolutions. However, creating moments of serendipity in a remote work environment is a significant challenge. Thus, finding the right approach to stimulate serendipity in a remote work environment is an ever-evolving challenge. Therefore, this work aims to understand the possibilities of serendipity that collaboration tools used in remote work can support. The methodology used for this work was a Rapid Review. First, we explore the factors related to serendipity in physical offices, for which we identified twenty-three elements. Next, we compiled 38 strategies for remote work that were found to promote serendipity, which we organized in a framework for better observation. Our findings can serve as a starting point for designing new tools and identifying existing software and tools that already play a supportive role.

The Internet of Everything (IoE) is the paradigm of intelligent services that supports a ubiquitous and always-connected world of smart sensors and actuators, human and non-human in a cyber-physical lifestyle. Recent years have witnessed the fast proliferation of smart devices. In addition, these functional smart sensors possess powerful computation and communication capabilities and contribute to intelligent services outcomes of IoE-based applications. Then by adopting a knowledge-based approach on sensors smartness, we make a comparative assessment and classify smart sensors (image sensors, temperature sensors, proximity sensors, speed sensors, and sound sensors) regarding intelligence levels. We extracted valuable conclusions and inferences from this classification, providing insights and future directions towards promised benefits offered by distilled intelligence in smart sensors applications. Knowledge is an important asset in an organization. Aru Islands District is one of the districts in Maluku Province. The Government of Aru Islands District Maluku has a vision and mission as outlined in the Regional Strategic Plan or commonly referred to as RENSTRA. This vision and mission are an activity that requires a policy direction that is planned and integrated with the strategic environment of all related aspects. The strategic plan is then realized with the implementation of the government with regional autonomy which is the modern governance in realizing quality public services, fast, easy, fair and unlimited for the welfare and progress of the region. As Metaverse emerges as the next-generation Internet paradigm, the ability to efficiently generate content is paramount. AI-Generated Content (AIGC) emerges as a key solution, yet the resource-intensive nature of large Generative AI (GAI) models presents challenges. To address this issue, we introduce an AIGC-as-a-Service (AaaS) architecture, which deploys AIGC models in wireless edge networks to ensure broad AIGC services accessibility for Metaverse users. Nonetheless, an important aspect of providing personalized user experiences requires carefully selecting AIGC Service Providers (ASPs) capable of effectively executing user tasks, which is complicated by environmental uncertainty and variability. Addressing this gap in current research, we introduce the AI-Generated Optimal Decision (AGOD) algorithm, a diffusion model-based approach for generating the optimal ASP selection decisions. Integrating AGOD with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), we develop the Deep Diffusion Soft Actor-Critic (D2SAC) algorithm, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ASP selection. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that D2SAC outperforms seven leading DRL algorithms. Furthermore, the proposed AGOD algorithm has the potential for extension to various optimization problems in wireless networks, positioning it as a promising approach for future research on AIGC-driven services. In today's world, Bluetooth technology is integrated into almost every device we use, from wireless headsets, mice, and keyboards to cars and smart home devices. But with the convenience of this technology comes the risk of privacy and security breaches. Each Bluetooth device has potential vulnerabilities that cybercriminals can exploit and take advantage of. It is important to create awareness about various Bluetooth vulnerabilities, exploits, and ways to prevent them. This article examines the dark side of Bluetooth technology by explaining how hackers can find ways to bypass the advanced security features of laptops, phones, cars, or smart home devices to compromise the devices and steal personal sensitive data. A collaborative course called Global Awareness for Technology Implementation was conducted by the Faculty of engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. The objective of this course was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, perspectives, and experiences between Thai and Japanese students through project work, using an engineering design approach and the design thinking process to create innovation relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the class, experts shared their knowledge and experiences with the students. The students then worked on their respective projects to develop solution concepts using the design thinking process. The proposed ideas include the application for English class, smart water quality checker, hydrogen-based energy system for rural area, reduced wasted fashion solution, and auto waste sorting machine. Finally, this study concluded with a summary of the results and findings on the empathy process in the chosen SDGs, and of the commonalities and differences between Thailand and Japan in terms of ideation.
