The purpose of this study is to find the influence factors of blockchain technology adoption of payments system in Indonesia banking industry. Moreover, the researchers proposed new model of payment system by using blockchain technology in Indonesia banking industry. All this time, the researchers of blockchain in payment systems were done in major countries such as UK, USA, Australia, Scotland, Germany, Japan, France, Italy, and China. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) used as a method in this study and there were five databases that taken as references, such as IEEE, Science direct, AIS electronic, ACM and Google Scholar. The researchers were found 26 references Studies Included in Quantitative Synthesis and 9 variables (Easy to use, Usefulness, Transaction fees, Risk perception, Behaviour intention of use, Attitude toward, Cognitive style, Subjective Norm, Effectiveness). Based on the result of data analysis and discussion, there were two conclusions in this study, the first, the researchers found nine factors that expected tobe used as a reference if Indonesia banking industry wants to adopt blockchain technology for payment system;and second, the researchers had to propose payment system model by using blockchain technology in Indonesia banking industry. © 2018 IEEE.

Polaritons enable subwavelength confinement and highly anisotropic flows of light over a wide spectral range, holding the promise for applications in modern nanophotonic and optoelectronic devices. However, to fully realize their practical application potential, facile methods enabling nanoscale active control of polaritons are needed. Here, we introduce a hybrid polaritonic-oxide heterostructure platform consisting of van der Waals crystals, such as hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) or alpha-phase molybdenum trioxide (α-MoO3), transferred on nanoscale oxygen vacancy patterns on the surface of prototypical correlated perovskite oxide SmNiO3 (SNO). Using a combination of scanning probe microscopy and infrared nanoimaging techniques, we demonstrate nanoscale real-time reconfigurability of complex hyperbolic phonon polaritons patterned at the nanoscale with unmatched resolution. Hydrogenation and temperature modulation allow spatially localized conductivity modulation of SNO nanoscale patterns, enabling robust real-time modulation and nanoscale reconfiguration of hyperbolic polaritons. Our work paves the way towards nanoscale programmable metasurface engineering as a new paradigm for reconfigurable nanophotonic applications facilitated by a hybrid material platform exploiting extreme light-matter interactions in polaritonic systems. © 2021, CC BY.

Red-black trees with constant update time

We show how a few modifications to the red-black trees allow for O(1) worst-case update time (once the position of the inserted or deleted element is known). The resulting structure is based on relaxing some of the properties of the red-black trees while guaranteeing that the height remains logarithmic with respect to the number of nodes. Compared to the other search trees with constant update time, our tree is the first to provide a tailored deletion procedure without using the global rebuilding technique. In addition, our structure is very simple to implement and allows for a simpler proof of correctness than those alternative trees. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Although research activity plays a big role in institutional ranking and provides a great benefit for university lecturer, the process of managing all research activity is tedious and exhausting. In most university, management must be able to collect all hundreds of proposals and reports;not to mention they must be able to accommodate the process of reviewing every single proposal. They also need to monitor all research output in final report and make sure that all of the outputs are correctly achieved from proposed target. In addition to the problems stated, previous activities are done manually, leaving a lot of opportunity to improve and automate the process. All of the addressable opportunity for improvement are explained and explored, thus a model of the web application is created. This paper presents the design of web application used to solve persistent problem in research management, specifically in Binus University. The design methodology is divided into two phases: requirement engineering phase, and system design. Upon finishing the requirement engineering phase, system model is depicted using Unified Modeling Language, specifically: Activity Diagram, Use Case Diagram, and Conceptual Class Diagram. © 2018 IEEE.

Topological insulating phases are usually found in periodic lattices stemming from collective resonant effects, and it may thus be expected that similar features may be prohibited in thermal diffusion, given its purely dissipative and largely incoherent nature. We report the diffusion-based topological states supported by spatiotemporally-modulated advections stacked over a fluidic surface, thereby imitating a periodic propagating potential in effective thermal lattices. We observe edge and bulk states within purely nontrivial and trivial lattices, respectively. At interfaces between these two types of lattices, the diffusive system exhibits interface states, manifesting inhomogeneous thermal properties on the fluidic surface. Our findings establish a framework for topological diffusion and thermal edge/bulk states, and it may empower a distinct mechanism for flexible manipulation of robust heat and mass transfer. © 2021, CC BY.

Tumor metastasis is one of the main factors responsible for the high fatality rate of cancer. Metastasis can occur after malignant cells transition from the epithelial phenotype to the mesenchymal phenotype. This transformation allows cells to migrate via the circulatory system and subsequently settle in distant organs after undergoing the reverse transition. The core gene regulatory network controlling these transitions consists of a system made up of coupled SNAIL/miRNA-34 and ZEB1/miRNA-200 subsystems. In this work, we formulate a mathematical model and analyze its long-term behavior. We start by developing a detailed reaction network with 24 state variables. Assuming fast promoter and mRNA kinetics, we then show how to reduce our model to a monotone four-dimensional system. For the reduced system, monotone dynamical systems theory can be used to prove generic convergence to the set of equilibria for all bounded trajectories. The theory does not apply to the full model, which is not monotone, but we briefly discuss results for singularly-perturbed monotone systems that provide a tool to extend convergence results from reduced to full systems, under appropriate time separation assumptions. Tiny perturbations may trigger large responses in systems near criticality, shifting them across equilibria. Committed minorities are suggested to be responsible for the emergence of collective behaviors in many physical, social, and biological systems. Using evolutionary game theory, we address the question whether a finite fraction of zealots can drive the system to large-scale coordination. We find that a tipping point exists in coordination games, whereas the same phenomenon depends on the selection pressure, update rule, and network structure in other types of games. Our study paves the way to understand social systems driven by the individuals' benefit in the presence of zealots, such as human vaccination behavior or cooperative transports in animal groups.

Background Calls for healthcare systems to reduce disparities in cancer care access and outcomes draw on comparisons of existing measures across race and ethnicity subgroups. This approach may hide inequities driven by systematic bias in the timing of care delivery. The goals of this study were to: (1) identify differences in the timing of care delivery between racial groups, and (2) determine whether these differences could be identified from quality measures. Methods Retrospective decedent follow-back study of hospitals treating Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with advanced cancer aged 65–99 who died April–December 2016. Among hospitals serving at least 11 decedents of color (including Black or African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Other) and 11 White decedents, we calculated hospital-level differences between White decedents and decedents of color for 1) any use of palliative care and hospice (Measures) and 2) daily counts of palliative care and hospice use for each day in the 6 months before death (Signatures). Findings The cohort included 30,319 decedents across 217 hospitals, of whom 7,852 (25.9%) were people of color (POC). The median of the hospital-specific aggregate measure difference was −5.35% (IQR = 12.83) for palliative care, indicating more POC received any palliative care, and 3.66% (IQR = 12.45) for hospice care, indicating more White people (WP) received any hospice care. We identified 5 high-level cluster-group descriptions of inequality from signatures. Inequality information from signatures matched those from measures in only 46.5% and 39.2% of hospitals for palliative and hospice care, respectively. Interpretation Signatures incorporating timing of care delivery using longitudinal data revealed patterns of racial-ethnic inequalities in end-of-life cancer care otherwise missed by traditional aggregate quality measures. In the era of Cloud platforms, microservices have multiplied, becoming a de facto standard for software reuse. With so many alternatives, a challenge still open is to find the most adequate one, given a set of requirements and priorities. In this context, we present DIRECTOR, a Cloud microservice selection framework based on different perspectives: technical, social and semantical. Emerging results prove that it can support software acquisition via discovery and comparison of microservices, being able to recommend the fittest among hundreds of candidates.

Automatic text-based personality recognition on monologues and multiparty dialogues using attentive networks and contextual embeddings

Previous works related to automatic personality recognition focus on using traditional classification models with linguistic features. However, attentive neural networks with contextual embeddings, which have achieved huge success in text classification, are rarely explored for this task. In this project, we have two major contributions. First, we create the first dialogue-based personality dataset, FRIENDSPERSONA, by annotating 5 personality traits of speakers from Friends TV Show through crowdsourcing. Second, we present a novel approach to automatic personality recognition using pre-trained contextual embeddings (BERT and RoBERTa) and attentive neural networks. Our models largely improve the state-of-art results on the monologue Essays dataset by 2.49%, and establish a solid benchmark on our FRIENDSPERSONA. By comparing results in two datasets, we demonstrate the challenges of modeling personality in multi-party dialogue. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
