The multi-agent energy management system (EMS) is needed to coordinate multiple agents of a microgrid to provide efficient operation of the system. In this study, multi-agent EMS is seen as the middle controller between primary and tertiary control levels. It is responsible for determining the relevant set points based on data gathered from the tertiary control level and sending them to the appropriate primary control level agents. The main objective of this paper is to propose a new optimization model for multi-agent EMS to minimize errors between the forecasted and real-time data at every predetermined time interval. Rather than using a traditional centralized microgrid controller to determine the dispatch of resources, a new framework-based multi-agent coordination is proposed to achieve the following objectives: minimizing load shedding, maximizing load dispatch and reliability, providing frequency, and maintaining voltage stability. © 2023 IEEE.

Internet of Things (IoT) networks are expected to be a key enabler technology for smart cities, due to their ability to offer real-time monitoring. In this work, we propose a novel medium access control (MAC) protocol, inspired by the synergy of slotted ALOHA and hybrid automatic repeat request with code combining (HARQ-CC), termed as code combining slotted ALOHA (CCSA), to improve the performance of IoT networks with multiple randomly deployed sensors. Specifically, we provide analytical closed-form expressions for the network's outage probability as well as for its average throughput when CCSA is applied. Finally, we provide simulation results that reveal the authenticity of the derived expressions and reveal the capabilities of HARQ-CC to significantly improve the network's performance when the sensors' access is based on a random access scheme. © 2023 IEEE.

Inductive wireless power transfer (WPT) faces significant challenges in achieving high efficiency and stable output power for charging mobile devices like EVs. Using circular pads (CP) as the transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) and a self-oscillating controlled inverter, this paper demonstrates a robust WPT system that maintains high constant transfer efficiency and output power in a defined region regardless of coupling coefficient variations without communication between Tx and Rx or control circuits for the receiver side. In contrast to couplers with non-identical Tx and Rx pads and multiple decoupled coils in the Rx pad, the compact CP-CP magnetic coupler with a single identical coil on the Tx and Rx is more robust at a wider transfer distance (air gap) and lateral and rotational misalignment between the Tx and Rx. The proposed 1-kW robust WPT system with up to a 20 cm air gap between the Tx and Rx and up to 12 cm lateral misalignment in all directions at a 15 cm air gap and all degrees of rotational misalignment can tolerate coupling variations and achieve constant output power with 93% constant transfer efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the evolving landscape of EV traction inverters, addressing key technical goals outlined by US Drive and analyzing parameters such as voltage, power density, and efficiency. Through innovative methodologies, a high-efficiency SiC-based traction inverter is developed to overcome challenges like spatial constraints. Leveraging international benchmarks, a cutting-edge SiC-based 800V 243 kW traction inverter with a power density of 60 kW/L is presented, poised to surpass US Drive's 2025 targets. Speech emotion recognition(SER)is an important research problem in human-computer interaction *** representation and extraction of features are significant challenges in SER *** the promising results of recent studies,they generally do not leverage progressive fusion techniques for effective feature representation and increasing receptive *** mitigate this problem,this article proposes DeepCNN,which is a fusion of spectral and temporal features of emotional speech by parallelising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and a convolution layer-based *** parallel CNNs are applied to extract the spectral features(2D-CNN)and temporal features(1D-CNN)representations.A 2D-convolution layer-based transformer module extracts spectro-temporal features and concatenates them with features from parallel *** learnt low-level concatenated features are then applied to a deep framework of convolutional blocks,which retrieves high-level feature representation and subsequently categorises the emotional states using an attention gated recurrent unit and classification *** fusion technique results in a deeper hierarchical feature representation at a lower computational cost while simultaneously expanding the filter depth and reducing the feature *** Berlin Database of Emotional Speech(EMO-BD)and Interactive Emotional Dyadic Motion Capture(IEMOCAP)datasets are used in experiments to recognise distinct speech *** efficient spectral and temporal feature representation,the proposed SER model achieves 94.2%accuracy for different emotions on the EMO-BD and 81.1%accuracy on the IEMOCAP dataset *** proposed SER system,DeepCNN,outperforms the baseline SER systems in terms of emotion recognition accuracy on the EMO-BD and IEMOCAP datasets.

Controlled islanding plays an essential role in preventing the blackout of power *** there are several studies on this topic in the past,no enough attention is paid to the uncertainty brought by renewable energy sources(RESs)that may cause unpredictable unbalanced power and the observabilit>T of power systems after islanding that is essential for back-up black-start ***,a novel controlled islanding model based on mixed-integer second-order cone and chance-constrained programming(MISOCCP)is proposed to address these ***,the uncertainty of RESs is characterized by their possibility distribution models with chance constraints,and the requirements,e.g.,system observability,for rapid back-up black-start measures are also ***,a law of large numbers(LLN)based method is em-ployed for converting the chance constraints into deterministic ones and reformulating the non-convex model into convex ***,case studies on the revised IEEE 39-bus and 118-bus power systems as well as the comparisons among different models are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed *** results show that the proposed model can result in less unbalanced power and better observability after islanding compared with other models.

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable performance across various machine learning tasks. Yet the substantial memory footprint of LLMs significantly hinders their deployment. In this paper, we improve the accessibility of LLMs through BitMoD 1 , an algorithm-hardware co-design solution that enables efficient LLM acceleration at low weight precision. On the algorithm side, BitMoD introduces fine-grained data type adaptation that uses a different numerical data type to quantize a group of (e.g., 128) weights. Through the careful design of these new data types, BitMoD is able to quantize LLM weights to very low precision (e.g., 4 bits and 3 bits) while maintaining high accuracy. On the hardware side, BitMoD employs a bitserial processing element to easily support multiple numerical precisions and data types; our hardware design includes two key innovations: First, it employs a unified representation to process different weight data types, thus reducing the hardware cost. Second, it adopts a bit-serial dequantization unit to rescale the per-group partial sum with minimal hardware overhead. Our evaluation on six representative LLMs demonstrates that BitMoD significantly outperforms state-of-the-art LLM quantization and acceleration methods. For discriminative tasks, BitMoD can quantize LLM weights to 4 -bit with < 0.5% accuracy loss on average. For generative tasks, BitMoD is able to quantize LLM weights to 3-bit while achieving better perplexity than prior LLM quantization scheme. Combining the superior model performance with an efficient accelerator design, BitMoD achieves an average of $1.69 \times$ and $1.48 \times$ speedups compared to prior LLM accelerators ANT and OliVe, respectively. 1 Code is available at: https://***/yc2367/BitMoD-HPCA-25

In power systems, there is a growing concern regarding the stability of systems with high levels of grid-following inverter-based resource penetration. One potential solution is to replace grid-following inverters with grid-forming ones;however, determining an effective placement for grid-forming inverters with limited information remains challenging, particularly for models lacking analytical formulation. This paper proposes a method for determining an effective placement of grid-forming inverters using weighted participation factors. The verification process employs the integral time absolute error criterion. A case study conducted on a two-area system demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2024 IEEE.

Morse code is one of the oldest communication techniques and used in telecommunication systems. Morse code can be transmitted as a visual signal by using reflections or with the help of flashlights, but it can also be used as a non-detectable form of communication by using the tapping of fingers or even blinking of eyes. In this paper, we develop a computer vision based approach that automatically characterizes the characters conveyed wherein a person can communicate to system or another person through Morse code with eye gestures. We can decode this visual eye tracking based language with the help of our automatic computer vision driven method. Our approach uses a normal webcam to detect the gestures made by the eyes and are interpreted as dots and dashes. These dots and dashes are used to represent the Morse code-based words. Image processing techniques-based blink and pupil detectors are employed. Blink detector helps us to detect a blink and the time that took for each blink. A blink that takes 2 to 4 seconds is acknowledged as a dot whereas a blink that takes more than 4 seconds is represented as a dash. The pupil detector helps us to detect the movement of the pupils, and if pupils move towards right with respect to a person then it is acknowledged as next letter and if the pupils are moved towards left with respect to a person then it is acknowledged as next word. In this way, we decode the Morse code which will be communicated using eyes and establish a non-detectable communication between a person and an automatic system. Our experimental results on an unconstrained visual scene with preliminary greeting words indicate the promise of an automatic eye tracking based system with success rate of 98.25% that can be of use in non-verbal communications. © 2023 River Publishers.
