Model Predictive Control (MPC) has been increasingly adopted by various converters due to its numerous advantages, including fast dynamic response, multi-objective control, and ease of implementation. However, MPC's variable switching frequency can degrade waveform quality compared to conventional control techniques that utilize proper modulation methods. To address this issue, combining MPC with a PWM technique allows the converter to operate at a fixed switching frequency, resulting in what is known as modulated model predictive control (M2PC). This study proposes an M2PC for a four-leg converter that is coupled with an indirect matrix converter at the input. The proposed M2PC enhances the output waveform quality using a PWM technique for the four-leg converter while maintaining a low fixed switching frequency. The performance of this approach is demonstrated through the implementation of the proposed M2PC technique in the MATLAB/Simulink environment, showing improvements in waveform quality. © 2024 IEEE.

In the original publication, the author has found few errors in the figures 2, 4, 11 and 12 which significantly impact both the paper's quality and the reputation of the journal. These issues undermine the clarity of the methodology and the novelty of the research. 1. Each column represents a different case in the experiment, corresponding to the number of UAVs in both the obstacle-free and obstacle areas. However, in Fig. 2, the first row contains identical subfigures across all columns, while the subfigures in the remaining rows are identical to each other The incorrect Fig. 2 appears as below: (Figure presented.) Nonlinear equations systems(NESs)are widely used in real-world problems and they are difficult to solve due to their nonlinearity and multiple *** algorithms(EAs)are one of the methods for solving NESs,given their global search capabilities and ability to locate multiple roots of a NES simultaneously within one ***,the majority of research on using EAs to solve NESs focuses on transformation techniques and improving the performance of the used *** contrast,problem domain knowledge of NESs is investigated in this study,where we propose the incorporation of a variable reduction strategy(VRS)into EAs to solve *** VRS makes full use of the systems of expressing a NES and uses some variables(i.e.,core variable)to represent other variables(i.e.,reduced variables)through variable relationships that exist in the equation *** enables the reduction of partial variables and equations and shrinks the decision space,thereby reducing the complexity of the problem and improving the search efficiency of the *** test the effectiveness of VRS in dealing with NESs,this paper mainly integrates the VRS into two existing state-of-the-art EA methods(i.e.,MONES and DR-JADE)according to the integration framework of the VRS and EA,*** results show that,with the assistance of the VRS,the EA methods can produce better results than the original methods and other compared ***,extensive experiments regarding the influence of different reduction schemes and EAs substantiate that a better EA for solving a NES with more reduced variables tends to provide better performance.

The optimisation of control engineering tools based on digital twin capabilities and other cyber-physical metaverse manufacturing system (CPMMS) components are crucial for the successful performance. This study proposes a model for optimising control engineering tools using digital twin capabilities and other CPMMS components to solve the open issues. The main contributions and novelty aspects of the methodological process are outlined as follows: Formulated and developed is a decision matrix based on a utility procedure for 10 control engineering tools with digital twin capabilities and other three CPMMS components (Programmable-Logic-Controller and Human-Machine-Interface, Internet of Things connectivity and cybersecurity features). This matrix accounts for the uncertainty associated with tool assessment and transformation evaluation issue;formulated and develop an integrating fuzzy weighted with zero-inconsistency-interval-valued spherical fuzzy rough sets (IvSFRS-FWZIC) and combined compromise solution (CoCoSo) methods. The IvSFRS-FWZIC method is utilised to assign importance degrees to the digital twin capabilities and other CPMMS components. The applicability and robustness of the proposed approach are validated and evaluated through conducting sensitivity, correlation, and comparative analyses. The proposed approach can assist managers in analysing and selecting the most suitable tool for developing CPMMS. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The armature coil of the superconducting synchronous motor for electric aircraft requires a current of 1,000 A or more. However, a single superconducting tape at liquid nitrogen temperatures is insufficient for this operating current. Therefore, the armature coil should be composed of multi-strand parallel conductors. If the coil is constructed from parallel conductors, the inductance balance between the parallel conductors will be collapsed, so the current distributions will be non-uniform. As a solution for this issue, the uniform current distribution can be achieved by the transposition technique that changes the order in which tapes are stacked. Our previous research has developed the transposition method for the 2n-strand parallel conductors (n = 1, 2, 3, and so on). However, some of the superconducting synchronous motors are actually designed using a number of parallel conductors other than 2n. This study focused on the three- and the six-strand parallel conductors. We analytically clarified the unique transposition configuration for the three-strand parallel conductors that achieves uniform current distribution, and the transposition configuration for the six-strand parallel conductors by combining the transposition configuration for the three- and two-strand parallel conductors. As a result, the current distribution ratio became less than ±5% when the number of turns of the double pancake coil was a multiple of six by applying the transposition. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A novel score function based on the Poincaré metric is proposed and applied to a decision-making problem. Decision-making on Fuzzy Sets (FSs) has been considered due to the flexibility of the data, and it is applied to the decision-making. However, decisions with FSs are sometimes nondecisive even for different membership degrees. Hence, Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (IFSs) data is applied to design a score function for the decision-making with the Poincaré metric. This function is supported by the profound information of IFSs;IFSs include hesitation degree together with membership and non-membership degree. Hence, IFS membership and non-membership degree are expressed as two-dimensional vectors satisfying the Poincaré metric for simplification. At the same time, the proposed approach addresses the hesitation information in the IFS data. Next, a score function is proposed, constructed and provided. The proposed score function has a strict monotonic property and addresses the preference without resorting to the accuracy function. The strict monotonic property guarantees the preference of all attributes. Additionally, the existing problem of score function design in IFSs is addressed: they return zero scores even with different meanings for the same membership and non-membership degree. The advantages of the proposed score function over existing ones are demonstrated through illustrative examples. From the calculation results, the proposed decision score function discriminates between all candidates. Hence, the proposed research provides a solid foundation for the hesitation analysis on the decision-making problem. © 2024 The Authors.

In this paper, we discuss an IEEE 754 compliant normalized floating-point divide and square root unit that utilizes iterative approximation. We provide a robust architecture that allows multiple formats and all IEEE 754 rounding modes while still exhibiting high-performance. Moreover, we also adhere to the IEEE 754 2019 standard and demonstrate methods for rounding results to all five rounding modes using iterative approximation. Performance, Power, and Area estimates are determined from physical synthesis using ARM-based standard cells in a TSMC 28nm process. This paper also presents comparisons versus other implementations and demonstrates the efficient of the approach presented here.

We address the problem of sequentially selecting and observing processes from a given set to find the anomalies among them. The decision-maker observes a subset of the processes at any given time instant and obtains a noisy binary indicator of whether or not the corresponding process is anomalous. We develop an anomaly detection algorithm that chooses the processes to be observed at a given time instant, decides when to stop taking observations, and declares the decision on anomalous processes. The objective of the detection algorithm is to identify the anomalies with an accuracy exceeding the desired value while minimizing the delay in decision making. We devise a centralized algorithm where the processes are jointly selected by a common agent as well as a decentralized algorithm where the decision of whether to select a process is made independently for each process. Our algorithms rely on a Markov decision process defined using the marginal probability of each process being normal or anomalous, conditioned on the observations. We implement the detection algorithms using the deep actor-critic reinforcement learning framework. Unlike prior work on this topic that has exponential complexity in the number of processes, our algorithms have computational and memory requirements that are both polynomial in the number of processes. We demonstrate the efficacy of these algorithms using numerical experiments by comparing them with state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.
