Fast graph stream classification using discriminative clique hashing 1

As many data mining applications involve networked data with dynamically increasing volumes, graph stream classification has recently extracted significant research interest. The aim of graph stream classification is to learn a discriminative model from a stream of graphs represented by sets of edges on a complex network. In this paper, we propose a fast graph stream classification method using DIscriminative Clique Hashing (DICH). The main idea is to employ a fast algorithm to decompose a compressed graph into a number of cliques to sequentially extract clique-patterns over the graph stream as features. Two random hashing schemes are employed to compress the original edge set of the graph stream and map the unlimitedly increasing clique-patterns onto a fixed-size feature space, respectively. The hashed cliques are used to update an "in-memory" fixed-size pattern-class table, which will be finally used to construct a rule-based classifier. DICH essentially speeds up the discriminative clique-pattern mining process and solves the unlimited clique-pattern expanding problem in graph stream mining. Experimental results on two real-world graph stream data sets demonstrate that DICH can clearly outperform the compared state-of-the-art method in both classification accuracy and training efficiency. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

Knowledge graph embedding aims at offering a numerical knowledge representation paradigm by transforming the entities and relations into continuous vector space. However, existing methods could not characterize the knowledge graph in a fine degree to make a precise link prediction. There are two reasons for this issue: being an ill-posed algebraic system and adopting an overstrict geometric form. As precise link prediction is critical for knowledge graph embedding, we propose a manifold-based embedding principle (ManifoldE) which could be treated as a well-posed algebraic system that expands point-wise modeling in current models to manifold-wise modeling. Extensive experiments show that the proposed models achieve substantial improvements against the state-of-theart baselines, particularly for the precise prediction task, and yet maintain high efficiency.

The purpose of this paper is to present the idea of multi-criterion mobile robot navigation. This is a combination of autonomous and master control. The robot can execute different traffic scenarios depending on the available data. It can realize its own autonomous route on the basis of information from external database, or a movement command stored in the memory of transponder, according to a specific key, independent on the vehicle itself. To accomplish this purpose, a model of mobile vehicle was designed and built. The dedicated software algorithm for the proposed navigation method was also proposed and developed. © 2017 IMAPS Europe.

General-Purpose Computation on Graphics Processing Units (GPGPUs) are becoming crucial in accelerating computing capacity. Due to the massive parallelism capabilities of GPUs, they can achieve impressive speedups of up to 32 times compared to common CPUs. However, writing highly parallel code and utilizing a GPU is challenging for programmers. Developers are facing new challenges since GPUs handle threads and parallelism differently from CPUs. Academia and industry proposed several profilers to support developers in terms of code optimization. These profilers often require an actual device (e.g., GPU) and take a long time for the profiling process. We propose HyPA, a hybrid Parallel Thread Execution (PTX) Analyzer that inspects PTX code statically and dynamically. HyPA implements a partly functional emulator that executes instructions that rely on runtime dependencies to count the number of executed PTX instructions and divergent branches. HyPa executes compiled kernels-the programs that run on GPUs-generated by the CUDA compiler and supports the full PTX 7.7 specification. Our functional emulator allows significantly faster analysis of PTX code compared to standard profilers. In our evaluation, we quantify this increase in performance through benchmark runs. HyPA achieved speedups of up to 536% compared to the nvprof profiler. Moreover, our approach can gather performance metrics beyond static analysis (e.g., branch efficiency) by a faster execution time than by profiling the application on an actual device. Enabling digitization by implementing Lean IT: lessons learned

Purpose: With the rise of digitization, IT organizations are challenged to provide efficient service delivery and offer innovative digital solutions while maintaining a constant resource capacity. To address this challenge, some IT organizations have adopted Lean Management (LM). Although LM is a standard production mode in manufacturing, it is less familiar to IT organizations. The purpose of this paper is to identify 12 lessons learned from companies who implemented LM in their IT organization (Lean IT) to free up their IT resource capacity from existing day-to-day operations so they could use it to enable their digitization strategy. Design/methodology/approach: A case study of two major international companies from different industries. Data were collected from 25 structured interviews. Findings: The lessons learned provide insights into how these companies implemented Lean IT, the potential outcomes they aimed for, what they did to achieve those outcomes, how they facilitated the implementation of Lean IT, and restrictions they encountered during the implementation. Research limitations/implications: The findings are based on a limited range of IT organizations. Practical implications: The lessons learned inform those implementing Lean IT because they explain how companies have implemented Lean IT to facilitate digitization and the benefits and pitfalls they encountered. A comparison of Lean IT and Lean Production shows that LM is transferable to IT organizations if domain specific requirements are respected. Originality/value: This paper reports the unique experience of companies implementing Lean IT, which can inform other companies in a similar situation. © 2018, Emerald Publishing Limited.

Hybrid-electric, unconventional aircraft solutions can possibly be the solutions for the ambitious emission reduction targets set by regulators, based on society's demands. One such disruptive solution is a morphing wing cargo UAV, with distributed propulsion. This paper investigates the aerodynamics, flight dynamics and control of a scaled down technology demonstrator UAV, built to validate the feasibility of the morphing wing concept. Several types of analyses are run to gain knowledge on the performance, stability and control properties of the aircraft. The flight mechanical effects of the distributed propulsion system are taken into account based on the integral momentum theorem. The increased flow speed behind propellers increases the local lift forces. Therefore, the distributed propulsion can be used to control the roll, pitch and yaw motion of the morphing wing aircraft. The nonlinear 6 degrees of freedom, distributed propulsion aircraft model is constructed utilizing the stability and control derivatives obtained from the aerodynamic analysis. Grid and Tensor Product (TP) type linear parameter-varying (LPV) models of the morphing wing aircraft are generated via Jacobian linearization and TP model transformation. The LPV models capture the parameter varying dynamics arising from the airspeed, morphing wing and payload weight variations. Gain scheduled lateral and longitudinal baseline controllers are synthesized using the grid-based LPV model of the aircraft. © 2020 IEEE.

The brain signal classification is the basis for the implementation of brain–computer interfaces (BCIs). However, most existing brain signal classification methods are based on signal processing technology, which require a significant amount of manual intervention, such as channel selection and dimensionality reduction, and often struggle to achieve satisfactory classification accuracy. To achieve high classification accuracy and as little manual intervention as possible, a convolutional dynamically convergent differential neural network (ConvDCDNN) is proposed for solving the electroencephalography (EEG) signal classification problem. First, a single-layer convolutional neural network is used to replace the preprocessing steps in previous work. Then, focal loss is used to overcome the imbalance in the dataset. After that, a novel automatic dynamic convergence learning (ADCL) algorithm is proposed and proved for training neural networks. Experimental results on the BCI Competition 2003, BCI Competition III A, and BCI Competition III B datasets demonstrate that the proposed ConvDCDNN framework achieved state-of-the-art performance with accuracies of 100%, 99%, and 98%, respectively. In addition, the proposed algorithm exhibits a higher information transfer rate (ITR) compared with current algorithms. © 2012 IEEE.
