In recent years, wide bandgap semiconductor devices such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) have been increasingly applied in electric drive systems, effectively enhancing system power density. However, the high-frequency and high-speed characteristics of SiC devices exacerbate electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues within the system. Additionally, the cables in electric drive systems exhibit significant antenna effects, radiating conducted EMI into the surrounding space, thereby affecting the normal operation of other sensitive equipment. Therefore, it is essential to research motor drive system topologies that can actively suppress EMI and predict radiated interference in motor drive systems. The topology of a four-module motor paired with parallel inverters can achieve active suppression of EMI at the source. This paper conducts a simulation-based prediction of radiated interference for a parallel inverter-driven four-module motor system. It analyzes the coupling mechanisms of common mode and differential mode radiated interference and validates the radiated interference from both DC and AC cables through simulations, predicting the impact on surrounding sensitive equipment in practical systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Power electronic switching devices and pulse width modulation (PWM) not only improves the performance of motor drive systems, but also brings about common-mode voltage (CMV) issues, that challenging the normal operation of the system. This article proposes a zero common-mode voltage modulation strategy based on unified voltage modulation for a 60° Y-connected six-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor system driven by a dual three-phase inverter. The theoretical basis and zero common-mode implementation scheme of unified modulation are analyzed, and the effectiveness of the proposed zero common-mode voltage modulation strategy is finally verified through simulation. © 2024 IEEE.

The superior performance of object detectors is often established under the condition that the test samples are in the same distribution as the training data. However, in many practical applications, out-of-distribution (OOD) instances are inevitable and usually lead to uncertainty in the results. In this paper, we propose a novel, intuitive, and scalable probabilistic object detection method for OOD detection. Unlike other uncertainty-modeling methods that either require huge computational costs to infer the weight distributions or rely on model training through synthetic outlier data, our method is able to distinguish between in-distribution (ID) data and OOD data via weight parameter sampling from proposed Gaussian distributions based on pre-trained networks. We demonstrate that our Bayesian object detector can achieve satisfactory OOD identification performance by reducing the FPR95 score by up to 8.19% and increasing the AUROC score by up to 13.94% when trained on BDD100k and VOC datasets as the ID datasets and evaluated on COCO2017 dataset as the OOD dataset. © 2023 International Society of Information Fusion.

The paper presents a description of the research methodology dedicated to a two-step discretisation process applied to the input numeric data, with combining the characteristics of selected supervised and unsupervised algorithms, which leads to extended processing of some attributes in train and test sets. The methodology was illustrated with the investigations carried out in the domain of stylometric analysis of texts, for two datasets prepared for the task of binary authorship attribution. The several variants of transformed input data obtained were subjected to exploration using two selected machine learning methods capable of inducing knowledge from both continuous and categorical forms, namely the PART and J48 classifiers. The results from the experiments indicate that, as can be expected, supervised transformations of data work well enough, however, they do not always return the best outcome. The two-step processing of some attributes shows sufficient promise to warrant a closer study, as opposed to always unconditionally relying only on supervised algorithms as outperforming all other approaches. © 2023 The Authors. Decision reducts and rules belong to forms used for the representation of knowledge learnt from input data while using a rough set approach in the exploration stage. As with any patterns that capture properties of data, the size is considered as the most important indicator of their quality, as a more general and concise description allows for improved understanding and simplified interpretation. The size of a reduct is given by its cardinality, and for a rule it is a number of included conditions, both referred to as lengths. These lengths undergo transformations along with data transformations, so such processing as discretisation leads to changed characteristics of existing patterns and through them also reducts and rules. The paper presents research with contributions in the observations focused on the influence of supervised and unsupervised discretisation on properties of attributes, induced decision reducts, and rules, offering a deeper insight into relations among them. © 2023 The Authors. The paper describes the energy consumption from the battery based on the current measurements for various cases, i.e., speed (PWL adjustment) and loads. The main purpose of the research is to have additional and reliable information about power consumption and battery life estimation for autonomous guided vehicles (AGV). The authors propose a two-step algorithm. In the first step, a linear classifier was proposed. Then, the KNN classifier was tested;however, it did not give satisfactory results, so it was finally decided to use the random forest to estimate the load and PWL. The time domain current measurement is evaluated, and the beforementioned algorithms process the selected statistical measures. It has been proven that a two-step algorithm allows for achieving high accuracy. Based on the current observation, the paper is a good starting point for further investigation of the AGV because it is usually implemented in the AGV - so it does not require additional hardware. Moreover, it can lead to better energy management and increase battery lifetime. © 2023 IEEE.

Evaluation is a process that compares the results with the target, an initial situation with the final one. ‘Evaluate’ means making an assessment based on some measure or information and referring to some criteria. The Formative evaluation is a process which is used by trainers and trainees and provides feedback on updating current teaching and learning methods in order to improve trainer’s achievement in relation of teaching goals. In this case study a research was carried out using the technique of formative evaluation in order to evaluate two thematic areas with the cooperation of the program’s leaders. The aim of the study was to extract conclusions and opinions about the program’s value, the achievement goals and the organisation implementation requirements and how all this results will been feed backed to program managers and policymakers with the appropriate information which are necessary to adopt appropriate corrective interventions for programs quality improvement. It is well known that nowadays children tend to spend lot of time playing games on mobile devices at the expense of reading books. The current research aims to explore ways to design and develop a mobile application, attractive for children, that uses voice recognition technology and gamification techniques to help children read more and better and to track the progress of reading. The application is implemented with Flutter, Dart and Firebase and is addressed to children, the books being made available in encyclopedia format. By integrating technologies such as NLP and gamification the application aims to improve reading fluency among children, but also to give them the opportunity to accumulate new and exciting information in the same time. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, information and knowledge represent the fundamental wealth of an organisation. Enterprises try to utilise this wealth to gain advantage when making decisions such as a project’s acceptance. After a project finishes, a quality management plan defines its quality level. The business intelligence theories help the individual to evaluate the proposed plan in order to target the project’s results. But, do all the evaluation methods have the same reliability? We check the project’s quality by using paper and online questionnaire administration. Although the scope is the same, there are differences, giving different results. So, we intelligently investigated the quality of the university educational process. The results show that the administration method has a significant effect on overall results. Thus, the quality check of a project using questionnaires needs to have an attentive design, avoid points that introduce uncertainties and able to show the real opinion of the respondents. Estimation of importance for considered features is an important issue for any knowledge exploration process and it can be executed by a variety of approaches. In the research reported in this study, the primary aim was the development of a methodology for creating attribute rankings. Based on the properties of the greedy algorithm for inducing decision rules, a new application of this algorithm has been proposed. Instead of constructing a single ordering of features, attributes were weighted multiple times. The input datasets were discretised with several algorithms representing supervised and unsupervised discretisation approaches. Each resulting discrete data variant was exploited to construct a ranking of attributes. The effectiveness of the obtained rankings was confirmed through a rule filtering process governed by weighted attributes. The methodology was applied to the stylometric task of authorship attribution. The experimental outcomes demonstrate the value of the proposed research method, as it generally led to improved predictions while taking into account a noticeably decreased sets of attributes and decision rules. © 2024 The Authors.
